This lovely home sits among the aspens and pines in one of the most beautiful places in all of Angel Fire, you will not be disappointed. Just a couple of minutes drive to the ski slopes and a quick 1-2 minutes to the grocery store. You can go year round to the Country Club and have dinner at Elements or enjoy indoor swimming and the weight room. Easily accessible year long and chains are not required. Double decks, one on first and second floor providing front row seats to Deer, Elk and an occasional Bear!!! while you sip your morning coffee. The kitchen is complete, dishes, glassware and flatware for at least 12 are in the cabinets.
It has DISH satellite TVs, a wood burning stove and WIFI. Tile throughout this home, granite counter tops and full size laundry room downstairs.
Go for the Day
The New Mexico Vietnam Memorial
Stop by the memorial on the hill near the flashing yellow light on the edge of town. A difficult time, is explained well through exhibits in the museum. The memorial in this beautiful valley is educational, moving and should not be missed.
Eagle Nest
It is about 10 miles from AF to Eagle Nest with its local shops and eateries, Eagle Nest State Park and lake. Fishing, boating and camping for the outdoors folks. Shops and restaurants all in walking distance on the main street.
Red River
30 miles from AF is the old west mining and skiing destination of Red River, popular with the tourists with plenty see and do. Several quaint old buildings have wooden sidewalks. All kinds of merchants from souvenir shops to art galleries, eateries and bars line the main street. The Red River flows through the middle of town. Bobcat Pass ( you go over it on the road between Red River and Eagle Nest) has horseback riding, cowboy chuck-wagon style dinners with storytelling and music in the summer months. Snowmobiles and ATV's available for rent to explore the Bob Cat Pass area.
Taos and the Taos Pueblo
Taos is one of the oldest human settlements in the nation and is only 25 miles from Angel Fire. The beauty of its location, the culture of the Native Americans with their pueblos and churches drew Georgia O'Keefe and other artists to the Taos area creating an artist colony that is still thriving today. Artists often did and still do speak of the 'light in Taos' with reverence. You must see Taos, where the sky, high desert and Sangre de Christo mountains converge and you too will understand the enchanted qualities of the Taos light. With its stunning location, culture, shops, dining, renowned art galleries and museums it is no wonder Taos was recently voted as the #2 top small town in America in May 2012 issue of Smithsonian Magazine.
Mother nature's handywork is all around you. A masterpiece is just a few miles out of town on the road to Santa Fe - the Rio Grande River Gorge. Park you car and walk out on the bridge. It's awesome and you can even go whitewater rafting and fishing in the area. You can't see it all in one day.
The High Road to Taos
This is a breathtaking route from Taos to Santa Fe through high mountain villages. A route you should not miss if you are in the area. Check your highway map for details.
Santa Fe
It's 90 miles from AF to Santa Fe - voted in the top 10 travel destinations in America by Conde Nast Travel for 20 years and recently ranked #2 best shopping in the USA. That's for anything from art to antiques, clothing to fine jewelry. There are too many art galleries and museums and sights to list here. A great day trip is driving the 90 miles from AF to Santa Fe via Taos then returning from Santa Fe to Taos via the Taos High Road, then on the AF. You will see the Rio Grande River Gorge along the highway from Taos to Santa Fe.
Angel Fire is a great home base for exploring the Enchanted Circle. Check the village visitors center at the corner across from Lowe's Valley Market for maps and all kind of literature on area attractions.
STAY TRIPS
If you're not feeling like leaving town, you'll have to choose between things you can do in the village, like shopping, eating, hiking, biking, riding our new zip lines on the mountain, ride your ATV in the 300,000+ acre Kit Carson National forest just outside the village, go horseback riding, fishing, golfing or wildlife spotting. In winter we have skiing (downhill and cross country), snow shoeing, snowboarding, tubing and snowmobiling. You never have to leave the check out time.
Whether you are here for winter sports or a respite from the summer heat, the Angel Fire area is a great place to use as your home base to explore our beautiful Enchanted Circle of northern New Mexico.

About the host
Hosted by Sam & Kim Carlton

We lived in Albuquerque and then moved to the Dallas Area. After missing New Mexico, it's weather, the Chiles, the balloon fiesta, we bought this home. After having to start from the studs on this home it is finally finished and practically a new home. A lovely relaxing and fun place for us to vacation with our family. Not suitable for children under 7 or adults who have difficulty maneuvering a Spiral Staircase.
Why they chose this property
The home is 2.8 miles from the lift. There is no Shuttle from the house, however you can park at Village Ski Shop and walk to the ski area or catch the shuttle. If you rent equipment from there it is free to park and you get $3.00 off per rental. Also, you can store your skis there overnight, for free!!!
