About this property
Relax and Enjoy Sweeping Views of the Mountains and Bay
Enjoy beautiful views of the mountains of Acadia National Park across the bay right from your living room or deck. Take a five-minute walk on a scenic path through an open meadow of wildflowers and blueberries (in season) to our private family beach. Try some kayaking or simply enjoy a day of collecting shells, sunbathing or swimming.
The comfortable 2BR 2BA apartment is private with its own outside entrances and deck. The main floor has a kitchen, living room, master bedroom & bath, and a deck with retractable awning and comfortable deck furniture. The second bedroom and bath, as well as the laundry room, are on the lower garden level, which is sunny and bright with large windows. The layout is ideal for two couples travelling together, or for a family desiring a little extra space.
Located on Newbury Neck, one of Maine's most beautiful peninsulas, this is an excellent place to enjoy the best of Maine. Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor are just 35 miles (45 minutes) away - close enough for an easy day trip for sightseeing and shopping - but far enough away to escape the crowds and cruise ships at the end of the day. We are 12 miles from the village of Blue Hill, known for its excellent restaurants, art galleries, summer concerts and a beautiful hiking trail to the top of Blue Hill Mountain.
We have more than 1000 feet of private beach on the property and are within walking distance (1.5 miles) of the public beach and Perry's Lobster Shack where in the summer one can sit outside on the dock and enjoy a traditional Maine lobster dinner.

About the host
Hosted by Ginny

We are quiet, retired professors who enjoy sailing, skiing, travelling and reading. We have travelled much of the world, but we love Maine and would not want to live anywhere else.
Why they chose this property
My parents bought the property in 1952. My father was an Air Force Officer so we lived all over the United States, but every summer we came to Maine. As children we loved our summers in Maine, and as adults we grew to love the other seasons as well (especially fall and winter!) My husband and I built our retirement home on the property in 2002 and added the apartment for family in 2004. We began renting the apartment to the public in 2015 and have truly enjoyed sharing this beautiful place with guests from all over the world.
What makes this property unique
It is unusual on the east coast of the US to see mountains right next to the ocean, but Acadia National Park offers this unique scenery, and we have a wonderful view of this from our front porch. We love the quiet pace of Newbury Neck -- biking on the road, walking on our wooded trails, enjoying the beach, and simply soaking in the amazing views.
