Wonderful peaceful stay in a comfortable home. Owners did a great job updating the property. We were very comfortable and appreciated the ease of working with vrbo and the property owners.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Sisu house. Diane was very welcoming and had everything we needed. Our kids enjoyed the fire pit and looking through the books about Minnesota while relaxing in the living room. There is so much to do nearby, we explored several state parks. We would definitely stay here again!
My 2 children and I stayed here for 3 nights while we explored the North Shore. The location was perfect for driving up and down the shore. The house was on a beautiful and quiet property. Very neat and clean with a lot of homemade items that have a warm and inviting feeling. Stocked with games, books, info on the north shore. Host was very nice! Would love to stay again.
What a cute and comfortable place to stay. A perfect “home” away from home for sightseeing, hiking and exploring from Jay Cooke State Park up to Grand Portage State Park. Very clean, did some grilling and cooking, but also ate out some. Not so expensive you felt you had to eat there for every meal.Thank you! Hope to be back again sometime.
Very clean and well kept. If you come with babies, consider bringing a gate for the stairway. Bathroom is downstairs, living area is upstairs. Owner was helpful and obviously loves this little house. Would definitely recommend bringing bugspray if you plan on being outside later in day. Will stay here next time we come.
The sisu house is awesome every thing you need is there it is comfortable and feels like home Diane has done a great job providing everything you need for your stay. I wouldn’t change a thing. Thank you again
Another relaxing and fun vacation! The Sisu House is our go-to every winter. The hosts provide wonderful accommodations and are very responsive. We appreciate the opportunity to stay here year after year!
This home was perfect for our family of four. We stayed for a weekend of snowmobiling and this location was wonderful. Plenty of space to park truck and trailer. Home was beautiful and was equipped wonderfully. Only suggestion would be a more comfortable couch. Diane was an excellent and very responsive host.
We really enjoyed our stay and really enjoyed learning the history of the house.. the house was very clean and easy to find.. would definitely stay here again
We had a wonderful time exploring the area, and this cabin was the perfect location for us. Clean, quiet, spacious, and very cozy. Would definitely stay again when we come back to the area.
Me and my sister stayed here for a few nights and it was a wonderful place to stay! Plenty of space and the fireplace was nice! Not too far from Ely or some of the state Parks in the area while still being private. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend for anyone looking for a nice place to stay up north!
Beautiful little home with obvious care taken to clean and maintain it. Kitchen is well stocked with everything you would need. Would definitely stay again.
We used the cabin as our base camp for our Father and Son hunting trip. We have stayed here before and will again. We love it! So comfortable and inviting. Works very well for our group of 4.
Very well kept home, comfortable and easy access to trails and Tettegouche State park. Would definitely consider booking again if we stayed in the area.

About the host
Hosted by Diane Lindberg
This is my childhood home, recently & totally renovated. We are proud of our Finnish heritage and that's why we chose the Sisu name. Sisu in Finnish means tenacity in the face of adversity, guts, 'stick to it'- tiveness
What makes this property unique
We wanted to keep the feeling and charm of an older home. But we do enjoy and have installed modern comforts (most recent: central air conditioning and WIFI)
