Located in Grand Rapids, this lodge is in a rural area and on the beach. Itasca County Historical Society Museum and The Gilbert Mansion are cultural highlights, and some of the area's attractions include The Myles Reif Center Performing Arts Center and Judy Garland Museum. Make sure you get close to the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.
Peterson Bay Lodge/log home booking summer 2026 now and going fast!: 3 nights minimum is required with a 10% discount for extending to a week! Promotional discounts for members and early booking discount of 10% as well on any length of stay. So discounts on top of discounts for a week. And note that those late June weeks Friday to Friday are great for fishing!
I also rent a Forester Fisher 18 foot pontoon for the length of your stay only. Prices vary so contact me for details. See pics. I am very reasonable on rates compared to local Marine rentals and monitor the prices regularly. I do want to insure that the renter of the pontoon in your group has had experience with a boat or pontoon before renting. A simple understanding of your experience is all we are wanting to know and ask that you follow the pontoon instructions/rules you will receive. Thanks!
A public boat access on lake makes it convenient to launch your own boat as well. Plenty of dock space for your boat on the docks at my property.
My place is a highly rated Norway pine lodge on a sand beach and crystal clear Little Bass Lake! Great fishing from the docks, diving dock or out on this deep lake (72 feet). Kayaks, canoe, paddleboat and paddleboard and water mat provided.
I have a Four season hand-scribed log home on Little Bass lake on a private 5.0 acre lot at end of dead end road. Only 1 distant neighbor. Interior finished with knotty pine ceiling and Australian Cyprus wood floors, and Tamarack paneling. Huge Lake superior stone real fireplace with firewood provided. Full kitchen including fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, stove, oven and center island and all the utensils for cooking. Watch the stars and northern lights from the large deck facing the quiet bay at the South end of Little Bass Lake. There is good fishing right from docks. A-Frame vaulted ceilings with master BR and bath in loft. Main floor has 2 large bedrooms, full bathroom, kitchen and great room and has a 4 season porch that is great for family meals any time of year. The walkout basement is unfinished but there are laundry facilities and an elliptical for use by guests.
The campfire pit makes an excellent spot for conversation, singalongs and S'mores. Firewood provided.
A 150-acre 70 foot deep lake, Little Bass has an abundant fishery including northern pike, large mouth bass, good crappie fishing, and even the occasional walleye. You will want to fish for walleye early or late as its such a clear body of water:)
See the beach pics. Sand beach for building sand castles and sand bottom out to 5 feet. There is a diving dock platform to swim or kayak to.
There is also great cross country skiing, downhill skiing/tubing, hiking and bike trail system close by in the Chippewa National Forest. Just google Itasca county trails or Mount Itasca to find them
Broadband wireless internet and basic cable TV included with a smart tv for streaming. I also have a high chair and a pack n play for infant guests! Please let me know if you need these put out for you!
Thanks! Randy
Ps: my cleaners are excellent and sanitize all surfaces. I’ve received many compliments. My cleaning fee is just what they charge me.
PPS: Sustainable practices: In addition to recycling bins in the basement which are clearly labeled, you are coming to a Forest and I love trees. You will see that I have planted many white and red pines on the property and that I nurture them. And though I try to insure a view of the lake from the lodge, I have worked hard not to cut down any more trees that necessary in the building process. So I think of my lodge as my 'treehouse'. Trees as you know take carbon out of the atmosphere. And of course looking at their beauty in addition to the water and blue skies always makes me feel calm and at ease. There are views of the lake from lodge but it is also very forest like and private at the lodge. A short walk to the beach gives you the full beach and lake experience.

This Grand Rapids lodge is on the beach, 2.9 mi (4.7 km) from Mississippi River, and within 6 mi (10 km) of Bass Brook Wildlife Management Area and Pokegama Dam Recreation Area. Blackwater Lake and Portage Park are also within 6 miles (10 km).
Spacious very clean cabin. Kitchen was great for cooking- very well stocked. Enjoyed evenings around a big bonfire area telling stories. Lovely quiet location with a nice sandy beach for swimming. Host was super responsive and helpful. Enjoyed our stay!!!
House was beautiful and nicely furnished! The grassy yard was also nice. We had a few fires outside and took the kayaks out one evening. It rained pretty hard one day so we enjoyed the puzzle stash and played card games. Overall a great stay!
Everything was lovely and Randy is very easy to get a hold of should you need anything or have questions. The cabin is beautiful and the kayaks, paddle board and paddleboat were so nice to have to use on the lake.It was fun jumping off the floating dock and fishing off the docks was great. My kids want to go back. So that’s a win
The lodge was even more beautiful in person. Great layout and set up regardless of the weather or season. Randy was very easy to work with and communicated as needed throughout the process. Crystal clear water, great for swimming and fishing. Fish off the dock with a worm and you catch a panfish eveey cast. Great experience for younger kids. And for the older kids, the pontoon and kayaks brought much success with larger bass and northern. We hope to be back!
Love the property and the seclusion. A beautiful lake is the icing on the cake. A fantastic spot for a group of friends to get together for the weekend
Loved the whole thing!! From the communication with the owner, to the beautiful 10 days around Christmas with the family....had a blast. Beautiful property in the winter time for sure. Thanks Randy!

Beautiful home. Well equipped and stocked. Quiet peaceful setting
Plenty of room for everyone on our family retreat. Convenient location to services in Grand Rapids and area fishing
My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Randy's beautiful cabin and have already booked it again for next fall. Also appreciated how easily it was to communicate with him. Highly recommend!
We stayed here labor day weekend (my husband, myself and our 2 kids ages 11yrs and 3yrs) We rented the pontoon which was well worth it as we went fishing everyday. The cabin is beautiful and the location was so private and relaxing! We will definitely go back!
Thoroughly enjoyed our time at Randy's beautiful log home and property. Whole family joined in on fishing, swimming, boating, kayaking, paddle-boating, outdoor yards games, and bonfires. Host was very kind and accommodating. Highly recommend!
Everything from reserving, communicating, staying and relaxing was easy and enjoyable. The log cabin is beautiful and well-equipped. The beach area, water toys and pontoon were fun! Could not ask for anything more, this stay exceeded our expectations and Randy is a wonderful host. Will definitely be returning next year!
Everything was as listed. Randy, the owner, was very helpful. Great floor plan and location. A truly relaxing vacation.

Great winter weekend
Fantastic winter weekend. Great house, well stocked kitchen with crockpot, and a great fireplace with plenty of split wood. We skied, snowshoes and enjoyed the gorgeous views.
We had a great stay in the Northwoods of Minnesota. We fished off the dock and took out the pontoon too. Kids enjoyed the kayaks and paddleboat. At night we all relaxed by the fire. The property was just what we needed and we loved the log home charm.
From the fire pit to the pontoon boat to the beautiful location, this property was worth every penny!! Gorgeous log cabin with plenty of room! The deck is heavenly! Only complaint would be the mosquitos, but they sell spray for that …lol!!
Very relaxing area. House is beautiful and very clean. Huge deck, spacious master area, awesome season screened in porch. The owner was very easy to communicate with. Highly recommend!
Beautiful property! Comfortable beds and plenty of space for our family! Screened in porch was wonderful and the spacious deck was a beautiful place to have coffee in the morning! The beach was sandy and the kids had fun fishing off the dock and swimming! We had a wonderful time and we had everything we needed at our fingertips! Thank you for a wonderful week!
