Cosy dining nook with standard lamp and river views. Woodland Barn is an eco-friendly cottage with air-source heat pump running the underfloor heating and hot water.
Woodland Barn is a converted stables and hayloft. It is a split-level property with the living space (lounge and dining nook) on the ground floor with 6 steps leading up to the kitchen and bathroom and another 6 steps leading up to the bedroooms.

What a beautiful place with fantastic views of the river Severn and surrounding country side. We stayed at woodland Barn over New year. The accommodation was spotless and everything was as you would want it to be. Good local shops, pub’s etc. I cannot fault it and would recommend a stay here to anyone.

Fabulous holiday

We just had a week here with our friends & our dogs. Property was spotless & really comfortable. Had everything we needed for a great holiday. The garden & view is just stunning & property is within reach of so many amazing dog walks. I can’t praise this place enough & Zoe & James are great hosts & kept in contact brilliantly. Excellent location to visit the forest if dean area. Perfect hosts, extra clean property, and so cosy. Views were absolutely amazing; the photos do not do this property justice. Steps are a little steep but taking our time we coped well. Cannot fault the hosts or property in any way.

Excellent communication with hosts prior to stay . Property was cosy on arrival and hot tub heated and ready to use . Short drive to many amenities and lovely areas to walk the dogs ! Property on two levels with stairs so may have been a problem for very small dogs , and small gap under patio railings , but with two daft , escapist dachsunds they were fine . Lovely to have a secure garden for the dogs , both grass area and patio . House was impeccable clean and everything had been thought of for a stress free stay with dogs or children ie stair gates / dogs bowls etc . Quiet area with a lovely view from the garden . Would highly recommend .

Christmas 2023

Couldn't fault the property at all. New experience for us after the passing of my wife and family Christmas's for over 30 years. The owners have really put a lot of effort into making the property a really lovely experience. Their attention to detail with added extras for guests and their dogs was exceptional. Even a Christmas tree was provided. The location was great and the views from the rear of the property were unspoilt and something I will remember personally. I've enjoyed showing other family members the lovely pictures taken. Would definitely consider going again in the future.

Great location for walks….

The location was great for access to the Forest of Dean however there the parish itself didn’t really have much to offer tourists visiting the area. The house had spectacular views however would benefit from some minor improvements, examples being that the small fridge in kitchen froze most of our. food including dog food which had to be disposed of; the shower in main bedroom was odd and kept stopping & starting.Also even though we knew the second bedroom had 2 single beds, these were about narrower than expected and quite uncomfortable with the springs coming through. All that being said loved the proximity for walks but would look to another area for future stays.

It's not Christmas, Christmas break

Planned early Christmas family get together. Kitchen very well equipped, warm and cosy property with great view over the valley. Our sons two dogs enjoyed the change, with plenty of space outside which would also be good for children.

The cottage had many positives , fantastic location in the Forest of Dean. Wonderful views and a great outdoor area including patio and fenced in lawned area for the dog. A great welcome pack including some delicious fudge and apple and raspberry juice. Off road parking. Entry to property easy via the key safe. The property was smaller than the photographs suggested and the double bed was far too soft but that may be to others preferance.

The Story Behind Woodland Barn – A Labour of Love

When we first discovered Woodland Barn in 2010, it was little more than a crumbling shell—broken windows, holes in the floor, ivy creeping in through every crack.

Once a stable and hayloft, it had long since fallen into disrepair. But despite its run-down state, there was something undeniably special about it. The charm, the character, and the breathtaking views wrapped around us like a warm embrace.

As James and I stood there, taking it all in, one of us (we still can’t remember who) said, "This would make a great holiday let!" And just like that, the idea took root.

With a vision of creating a dog-friendly peaceful retreat, we poured our hearts into renovating, restoring, and transforming Woodland Barn into the cosy, welcoming escape it is today.

Since 2011, we’ve been opening our doors to guests from all over the UK and beyond, offering a home away from home where families, couples, and their dogs can unwind, explore, and create lasting memories.
