Zwischenstop als Ausgangspunkt für Autorundereise

Wir haben diese Unterkunft ausgewählt, um von hier aus die Umgebung zu erkunden, daher war die Lage perfekt. Die Kommunikation erfolgte direkt mit dem Vermieter und war super unkompliziert und freundlich. Der Empfang vor Ort war sehr herzlich. Uns wurde alles erklärt und es gab diverse Tipps zur Erkundung der Umgebung. In der Küche stand sogar ein Korb mit diversen Leckereien (Eier von den eigenen Hühnern, selbstgemachte Tomatenmarmelade, Brot, Apfelsinen, ...) für uns parat und auch sonst war alles vor Ort was man benötigte. Die Betten waren sehr bequem. Das Appartment und auch der Außenbereich waren sehr gepflegt und man hat sich direkt wohl gefühlt. Durch die Lage im Ortskern war vor der Tür etwas mehr los (Verkehr und Menschen), was uns persönlich aber nicht gestört und auch nicht vom Schlaf abgehalten hat. Wir können die Unterkunft nur weiterempfehlen und kommen bei einer erneuten Rundreise sicherlich nochmal wieder.

Really enjoyable place to stay.

We used this as a base of operations for almost 2 weeks. It is in a small village about 45 minutes north of Lisbon. 2 wild beaches within a short walk away and many other great Atlantic beaches within a short drive away. Another review mentioned a chicken restaurant just down the street and it is probably the best chicken I've ever had. I think we ate there 4 or more times. There is a bar type place across the street and so there is some street noise on some nights and there is a grocery store nearby as well. I worked remotely and the wifi worked very well for me. I'm tall (6'4") and did hit my head a few times on the low doorways, but I don't think I brained my damage or anything from it. Parking is on the street, but was not an issue at all. Courtyard was a nice space for us. Probably use Google maps to locate. Waze didn't give us a great location. Very well appointed. Everything we needed. Owner was attentive and helpful.

Liebe Angela, lieber João, vielen Dank für die schönen Wochen in Eurem Häuschen. Wir haben uns gut erholt. Wir kommen gerne wieder. Das Haus ist sehr gut ausgestattet und liegt mitten im Dorf Assenta. Einkaufen, Essen gehen oder eine Bica (Kaffee) trinken, alles fußläufig. Einzig das Kaffee gegenüber ist abends etwas laut - uns hat es jedoch nicht gestört. Wir haben wirklich Land und Leute bei einem Fado-Abend und Muttertag-Mittagessen im Ort kennen gelernt - besondere Momente. Ein sehr guter Ausgangspunkt für Fahrten u.a. nach Lissabon, Sintra sowie Óbidos.

Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt, wurden herzlich empfangen. Das Haus war für unsere Bedürfnisse ideal. Wir wohnten mitten im Dorf, wenig weiterer Tourismus. Im Supermarkt gegenüber bekommt man alles, was man braucht zu günstigen Preisen. Ob dort oder im Restaurant, alle waren sehr herzlich. Sprachbarrieren wurden mit viel gutem Willen überwunden. Gerade im Restaurant Do Farol haben wir gerne immer wieder gegessen.

Lovely cottage, really well kitted out, a home away from home

Our hosts were delightful. Extremely easy to contact, very knowledgeable and only too happy to offer advice. Village had everything needed for our short stay - supermarket, bar, several good restaurants and coast nearby. Only downside was we were there in a heatwave- 38 degrees - and the house had no air con or fans. We couldn’t leave windows open at night due to the noise from the bar opposite. However, this did not spoil our enjoyment of the place. We rested up there for 3 days between city breaks in Porto and Lisbon. We did visit Buddha Eden which was 30 mins drive. Gorgeous sculpture park. We also did various beaches... Sintra and Cascais also only 40 mins south An excellent stop on the coast if you have a car to explore

Een mooi opgeknapt huis, van alle gemakken voorzien. João had een welkomstmand gevuld met brood, jam, eieren, sinaasappels en een fles water neergezet. Dat was heel fijn, hartelijk dank daarvan. En goede tips voor de omgeving gekregen en een tip voor parkeerplaats in Lissabon. Het is aan te raden kip te halen verderop in de straat, die waren erg lekker. De bar aan de overkant is wel wat lawaaiig, maar binnen hoor je dat een stuk minder.

The perfect house - the perfect hosts!

We are a family of 4: 2 adults and two teenage surfer girls. We came to the Milvus house in Assenta for a beach week and this house was perfect in every way. The house: two nice bedrooms, one master and one for the girls. Perfect! The kitchen: everything you need is there. It's clean and functional. However, we used it mainly to cook for breakfast because we found a churresquaria (rotisserie) at 30 seconds walking distance. This restaurant owned by Victor was a source of astonishment every night! You can order two full chickens (it's amazing!) with rice, fries and veggies for 4 for less than 25 euros! The grilled octopus is also great! At that price, why cook? The surroundings: across the street, there's a nice little grocery store where you can buy quality stuff for next to nothing (decent wine under 2 euros!). Speaking portuguese would be a great asset there, since the staff does not not pick up a lot of english and no french. Right in front of the house is a small café where we got our espressos for 0,60 euros! The beach: in Assenta, there's two beaches: north beach and south beach. Mostly rocky beaches, they allow you to lay in the sand at low tide. The landscape is amazing with the tall rocky cliffs, especially at sunset. If you want a real beach with surfing and the white sand, you will need to go 15 minutes by car to praia azul (blue beach) or matadouro beach in Ericeira (the best surf spot). The hosts: Joao ans Angela are great! They were there when we arrived and they offered us a basket of local food to make us feel welcome right off the bat! The were very generous in time ans advice. When we left, they offered us other gifts and precious advice before we plunged into Lisboa. Overall, don't miss the opportunity to live the life as a local in a small and beautiful portuguese village! You won't regret it! The Lévesque family, July 2018

reçu dans un gite grand très propre ou il ne manquait absolument rien par des personnes très sympath

Nous sommes parti 2 couples en moto et avions réservé ce gite pour 4 jours, nous avons stationner dans la cour fermée les motos, le gite est très grand (2 grandes chambres, salon, cuisine ) tout était impeccable et l'accueil par les propriétaires très bien Félicitations à ces jeunes

charming small typical house in village center

an old typical small house fully renovated with 2 bedroom, good and well-equipped kitchen and living room with wooden oven and outside BBQ area. Small supermarket, pub, bakery and restaurants within 50m ... more than central. Parking easy. Joao and Angela are very nice hosts and give you any kind of help you ask for - and available next door.

The perfect holiday home

A beautiful property with loads of character and fully equipped with everything we needed and then some. Perfectly located in a quiet town within travelling distance of Lisbon for those who prefer not to stay in the city itself. Our kids loved the nearby beaches, and thanks to Joao's recommendations, they spent many hours exploring amazing rockpools. Joao and Angela were very welcoming hosts, helpful and very friendly. We would not hesitate to recommend them and House Milvus to family and friends.

Belle maison dans agréable village à 2 pas de la mer.

Super séjour (2 semaines en août 2017). La maison est idéale pour un couple avec 2 enfants. Joao et Angela nous ont réservé un accueil des plus chaleureux et se sont tenus toujours disponibles pour répondre à nos diverses questions. La plage est à quelques minutes à pied ( attention il y a une falaise à descendre et donc à remonter au retour mais rien de méchant, nos enfants de 4 et 7 ans ne s'en sont pas plaint). Le village est agréable avec peu voire pas d'autres touristes que nous. Commerçants forts sympathiques. Situé à une 50aine de km de Lisbonne la température y est beaucoup plus supportable.

A house to feel at home in

We - a family of two adults and two late teens - have had an excellent vacation in Joao and Angelas house in Assenta. The house is small, but very well arranged, and absolutely all necessities are available. The house itself is old with a family history, but is restored very recently with care, pride and kindness. Joao and Angela took very good care of us as well - found bikes for us to use and gave plenty of very good local advise on sights, beaches and restaurants. We felt very welcome in the house and in Assenta.

Since traveling is one of our main hobbies, we think that is now the time to share some of our homeland with you.

Why they chose this property

This property is in the family possession by some generations. We just gave it a nice restoration, to bring it up to modern days needs.

What makes this property unique

Being a typical portuguese village house, we wanted to keep that in mind when the restorations works were carried out. We decided to maintain the core character of its stone walls and roof woodwork, who work together with a touch of modernity, resulting in a pleasant and cozy house.
