A five minute drive will bring you to the busy little town Chabris which has a large supermarket and fuel station. It also has a variety of shops including restaurants, hair dressers, newsagents and a bank. Ask a questionAbout Chris Lawrence
We fell in love with Maison des Reves during a summer holiday in 2002 even though it was in a very sad state. We then spent the next 10 years slowly renovating it back to its original condition but there will always be more we can do. We also renovated the small cottage in the same grounds. Having taken early retirement the cottage is our home while the main house is for friends family and of course guests who want to enjoy staying here
Chris Lawrence purchased this house in 2002
Why Chris Lawrence chose Varennes-sur-Fouzon
Maison des Reves is ideal break for anyone who wants to get away from the stress of working life and really relax. Life goes at a very slow pace and you will enjoy peaceful days eating fresh food and drinking excellent local wines and visting the historic Chateaux villages and towns scattered along the Loire
What makes this house unique
The house is on one level (all but a small step in the hallway) so is ideal for anyone who has trouble climbing stairs. The house is well situated for days out to the famous Chateaux Chambord Chenenseau and Valencay is only 10 minutes drive. You will also be in excellent wine country were you can visit the vieyards taste and buy red white and sparkling wines at very good prices. There are many excellent restaurants that serve traditional French cuisine made from fresh local produce. The village of Varennes also has a rail station for the local Hertitage railway the only narrow gauge railway left in France. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemin_de_Fer_du_Blanc-Argent
