About this property

Beachside Lake Home and 2 Cabins

Private peninsula with tall pines and over 800ft of south side sunny beach and lake front. Lake home and cabins on 1.5 acres with walkout basement and screened in beach-side porch. On smaller quieter lakefront water perfect for kayaking, canoeing and small boat fishing. Sip drinks on the lakeside deck or have a beach BBQ and make sandcastles in the sand. Older paddle boat, pontoon and newer kayak available for use for free. Voyager Village is nearby, and other restaurants and bars. 15 minutes to St Croix, Danbury Casino. Surrounded by state trails - walking, biking and ATVing.

I am limiting rentals to a handful of yearly customers and a few groups who are not particular about wanting an executive style new place.
I say this because it is an older small ma/pa fishing/ relaxing family place. It’s not fancy, there are quirks, and it is not perfect. It is a place that has some updates and plumbing, but the main focus is the family, campfires, beach and small lake fun. The buildings are older and will always have - ‘to be done’ - projects waiting on a list some where. We like to enjoy the property too, While we are working on various items often an eagle flying over head, a loon call, or a fish jumping in the lake will take over any project priority. We like it that way, and don’t want to have to apologize for little items that don’t get completed. They will be there to finish when we come up the next time. That is what this place is about. We work, and fix things so they are nicer than when we came, and enjoy life and the cabin property too. We do clean often and it is an awesome place to enjoy the woods and lake.
If this is what you are looking for please let me know,
Thank you,
Kim

Beautiful lake full of wildlife, very peaceful!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The cabins were a little more rustic then we were expecting but served the purpose. Kim was very pleasant to work with. I think this property is a work in progress. We really enjoyed and appreciated the use of the pontoon boat for the week.

Wonderful vacation.

Our extended family had an awesome time at your place Kim. The beach was a hit with the little ones, very clean and sandy, the kayak was a hit as well. We had plenty of room to spread the clan out. The kitchen had all the dishes, etc. we needed. I highly recommend this site to larger groups or small ones too. Great time.

Wonderful and relaxing

My siblings and I, with our spouses, stayed here last year too. This year didn't disappoint either. It is an absolutely wonderful place. We are a big family and there was plenty of room for all of us. There have been some improvements made in the house and they made the place even better. The weather cooperated, which was fantastic. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Carla

Fishing, family time, beach and wildlife

This is our 4th year of staying at this property. We have 7 adults and 7 children. It really fits our needs. My grandchildren always say that this is the highlight of their summer. We catch a lot of pan fish both from the dock and the pontoon. The beach area and entrance to the lake is awesome. The main house and the cabins work out great with plenty of sleeping spots and lots of places to be by yourself too. Looking forward to booking again next year!

Lots of room on a beautiful lake

Second time staying here, and equally comfortable and happy with the property. 13 people for a family reunion (grandma, grandpa & 3 families). Plenty of space to spread out - main cabin plus two fishing cabins gives everyone their own space. Main cabin has common space (kitchen, dining & living rooms) that fit everyone coming & going. A few hiccups during the week, but the owner responded amazingly quickly. The property is rustic, but the beauty of the area calls for lots of time outside. The property itself is a little slice of heaven. Incredibly quiet except for the loons, birds, squirrels and cranes. The hummingbirds loved the flowers onsite - what a treat to watch them flitting by. Beach is expansive and literally right off the back porch. Perfect for all ages, kayaking, paddleboarding, etc. Coffee at sunrise over the lake - not to be missed!

Great place

We really enjoyed our stay. With the main house and two separate cabins, there was abundant space for our large group. The property is well-maintained and stocked with everything we needed. The beach is amazing and the property is nice, quiet and secluded with tons of outdoor space to explore. We loved the fire pit on the beach and the spacious deck overlooking the lake. Kim was a great host and went the extra mile to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The only drawback from our point of view was that it's a small, shallow lake that is mostly muck once you get beyond about 30-40 feet from shore. Our little kids could swim in the sandy area close to the beach but adults couldn't get much more than waist-deep. The fishing did seem pretty good, though, as one of our party caught a big bass and a northern from the dock. Being a small lake was good because it's very quiet with hardly any boat traffic, but if you're into swimming or water sports you probably want something bigger and deeper.

Terrific backwoods retreat

Planning a siblings weekend for 16 people is not easy, but this wonderful property fit the bill. The home and two cabins gave up options for everyone. Some wanted quiet space at times, while others enjoyed games and telling stories with lots of laughter, and this property offered both. It offered the privacy a big group needs. It was a rainy weekend, but the views were still fantastic. Every chance we got, between rain drops, we sat on the deck and took in the peace and quiet that surrounded us. We couldn't have asked for a better place to sit back and relive our childhood memories. Everyone liked it so much they have asked to come back again next year. Working with Kim has been nothing but a pleasant experience. If there were any questions, from the time of booking to walking through the front, she was quick with a response and always looking out for how she can better serve us. Thank you so much, Kim. Loved your property and loved the experience of working with you. Carla T

Rustic Northwoods Retreat Perfect for Large Groups

We were lucky enough to find an opening at this property after our usual family reunion location fell through. It turned out to be a wonderful week for us! We had 14 people, and there was plenty of space for us to spread out. The property is amazing. The large main house had a large kitchen, and an open dining/living area that opened onto a large deck. The space was big enough for our group to congregate for games & lounging. The main house looks directly over the beach area - what a fantastic amount of sand beach to play in! The setup was just so easy & convenient - the lower level of the main house was right at beach level with a great big screen patio/room - perfect for a rainy or buggy day. Then the two small cabins were such a welcome addition for the families with kids who needed a little more space. Each had its own pair of bedrooms, small bathroom, and open (cozy) kitchen/eating/living area. The small cabins are definitely rustic - old fishing cabins but all the basics you'd need. Our week was filled with lots of lounging - but we managed to get away to do a bit of hiking (Amnicon Falls & Pattison State parks - both great waterfall hikes) & exploring the nearby towns. Spooner & Danbury offered just the right amount of coffee shop/café/shops to give us some short diversions. Definitely check out The Dock and the general store in Spooner (coffee/sandwiches). Maybe our favorite part was the nature. We loved watching the loon family, a few bald eagles, turtles, and snakes. Loon music at night was amazing. Fishing was unfortunately very slim for our group of guys. We heard the fishing in Long Lake right next door was much better. The pontoon boat worked well for our group, a nice feature! Owners were so kind - very flexible and responsive to all our questions. I'd recommend this place; we will definitely consider it again for next year! If you're looking for a rustic, quiet getaway for a large group, this is definitely your place.

Great secluded property for extended family

We have come to this property for many years. We enjoy the 2 cabins, and main house, the beach, fire ring and wildlife. It works really well for our extended family. We had a minor problem and the owner was helpful in trying to resolve it.

Great outdoor space, but cabins need numerous repairs

Our favorite things about this property were its privacy, sandy beach, use of the kayak and paddle boat, and small/quiet lake. My main complaint with the main house and cabins is the need for repairs--e.g. every screen door was falling apart, the deck railing was loose and my 3-year-old could easily dislodge posts, pillows/linens had holes in them. I also gave it 3 stars for cleanliness-we found stains on comforters and dead bugs on the walls of the cabins.

Just as described...great customer service!

Our group of 10 adults and 5 children had plenty of space to spread out on this property. The side cabins made it easy to have a quiet place for naps for little ones. We really enjoyed the beach and the boat. There was fishing, swimming, floating, and cribbage playing all week. We drove into Webster one day and found an adorable coffee shop. We also visited a great ice cream place in Minong. The kiddos enjoyed mini golf and basketball at Voyager Village (just down the road). The refrigerator was nice and big for all of our food and snacks. The bedrooms in the main house were nice and big. The two TVs with satellite made it easy for everyone kids to watch cartoons while adults watched their shows on a rainy day. Overall, this place helped us to create some wonderful family memories. Lastly, the owner was wonderful, attentive, and amazing to work with.

Private, beach and cabins. Perfect for families.

We had 7 adults and 7 children and it worked great for us. We enjoyed the lake, fishing, swimming, kayaking, boating, beach time, puzzle time in the screened in porch, and evening fires in the fire pit. Good fishing for pan fish. Enjoyed seeing loons, turtles, deer and hearing all the frogs. This is the third year that we have been here and it works great for us.

Kim was very responsive whenever I had questions about the property. She was super flexible!

The property is beautiful! Sand beach is clean, the fishing was great, the cabins are comfortable, and it's close to everything that we needed. We had 12 adults stay for a long weekend, and still had room to spare. We will be back in the future.

Perfect for Multi Families!

Our Multi Family group all loved the set up and location. There were 2 family that stayed in Main cabin - fit 4 adults & 4 kids comfortably (could have sleep more on sofas/air mattresses if wanted). The 2 mini cabins each have 2 bedrooms - one couple stayed in one cabin (had extra bedroom didn't use) and other mini cabin was used for two others that each got their own bedroom. Having the mini cabins really helped in morning and evening when our sleep times were off from eachother. The location was so nice being on the end of a peninsula to not have any direct neighbors. The main cabin is nice and close to the water/beach, makes it easy for going back and forth. Also nice with having the large group hanging out in different areas but yet all enjoying a good time together. We brought our own fishing boats (2) and got tons of fishing in. The fishing is good - easy to catch often (great for the kids) but nothing overly huge. There were lots of good blue gill, medium northern and medium bass. Got to hit up lakes near by too - lots of great lakes all around Danbury area. Have lots of great fish stories to tell! I would highly recommend and would love to go back! Thank You Kim for everything, our family had a wonderful time at your beautiful cabin!!! Thanks, Karissa :)

Relaxing casual fun for 3 generations. Cabins, fishing, beach and water!

The setting of the lake house and cabins on the property is perfect. We enjoyed the privacy and plenty of room for 14 of us, ages from 3years-70+ years. The kids and adults both enjoyed lots of fishing in the mornings and evenings, with quite good success from the dock, the pontoon and the fishing boat, that we brought with us. The youngsters enjoyed playing on the beach and frolicking in the water. The adults had a good view of them from the shore, the screened in porch and the deck. We enjoyed a campfire every night in the fire ring, and lots of s'mores! The cabins and lake house are not fancy, but just right for the "cabin feel" . You can hear and experience the loons, the frogs and other wild life and just enjoy nature. As an added bonus, we were able to bring our dogs. We definetly would like to come again. This was our 2nd year.

Beautiful sandy beach property, very quiet, not many Neighbors.

We loved it here just as describe. Very warm and welcoming. All of are 7 kids ranging in age of 1 to 12 had a blast. Catching frogs, doing frog races, watching the loon's, Fishing off the dock, swimming, doing nature walks, bonfires, board games, one thing these kids weren't was bored. Little Hidden Treasures throughout the cabin was such a joy for them. The 7 adults were also very happy. So much extra room to sprawl out with all of us there. We had tons of extra stuff to cook with, the pancake griddle maker was awesome. The lake was a perfect size for this friend/ family vacation. Kim was very resourceful we couldn't have ask for a better vacation.

A great secluded resort

This is a great place to stay. We had an extended family of 14, and they more than fit in the home and two cabins. A great sandy beach with a fire pit, a quiet secluded lake and a pontoon boat for motoring around. For most of the week we felt like we were the only ones on the Lake, it's that quiet. The cabins are being refurbished (July 2015,) and are almost done. They are very livable. Spooner is a half hour away, and has great shopping and restaurants, one that is part of a wonderful coffee/ice cream/fudge shop. The latter is great place to hang out and get the internet. The owners could not have been more helpful, pointing out local eating places and other points of interest. They were great to deal with. I would highly recommend it. The only reason we might not be back next year is that it's almost a full day's drive for most of our group, and I suspect even that won't keep us away.

Enjoyable, quiet, wild life filled, get away!

My family truly enjoyed our stay. The cabins were clean and the lake was serene. We enjoyed the fact that this lake has very few boats on it at any given time. This is such a quiet and secluded lake that we came home feeling really refreshed. My kids were in awe of the wildlife surrounding them, many turtles were their favorite. My older daughter saw a loons nest while kayaking. The fishing was awesome! The water is so clear that we could see fish in the water. We had an all you can eat fish fry our first evening there! We will be back next year once our busy city life gets to be too much.

I grew up in the Minneapolis area and have lived there most of my life. My father is from Northwest Wisconsin and I have visited the area since I was a kid. My mom is from Janesville, Wi and lived in Fergas Falls, Mn growing up. Now she retired here near Webster, and my father retired in Minong. I have good memories of traveling to this part of the woods, fishing, beaches, snowmobiling, and walking area trails. We continue to have enjoyable family gatherings at this beautiful site. My military son spent 2 hours in Iraq and Afghanistan and came home safe. My daughter is a computer here and works at Amazon. We get together here when we can.

Why they chose this property

When we decided to purchase a lake cabin we looked at many areas. We wanted something not too far away and yet still private. The minute I stepped out of the car, was the lake from the driveway, and looked up at the pretty pine trees I fell in love with the place. This 1950's resort was in need of some work, but we knew we could purchase it, and put some of our loving touches on it. We have loved it, enjoyed staying here, and have updated it as we can afford.

What makes this property unique

This is a special place. It is very private and the beach is within 50 feet of the deck. You can sit on the deck and watch the sun rise with breath taking views. It is quiet and feels like your on our own island with water surrounding most of the property. The wildlife on a smaller lake is lively and fun to watch. We have otters that show themselves once in awhile, turtles, frogs, birds, loons, eagles and many others critters to watch.
