We had an excellent stay.

Accommodations were great. The pool was nice to cool off. Ray was very helpful and checked on us several times during the week. The only thing that would have been nicer is to have a larger pot to cook pasta.

Beautiful home.

This place is a home away from home, it had great space to work and play. The master bedroom is more than comfortable, unfortunately the bathroom need to be a little brighter but that my opinion. Over all I would return to this quiet location.

The property was beautiful!

Our stay was nothing short of amazing! Rita met us at the house and explained everything. Her house is very well taken care of, and the grounds are beautiful! The pool was refreshing on those warm days. There is AC throughout, but we only needed it in the bedroom for sleeping. We will definitely stay again on our next trip down.

Great place, very comfortable

The house is very clean and comfortable, well maintained. The neighborhood is fantastic and the neighbors are very friendly and Corozal Town is minutes away. The caretaker, Ray, was here to meet us when we arrived and showed us the house. He provided his phone number in case of problems and checked up on us during our stay. Beautiful home, on a beautiful street in a beautiful country...what could be better?

A great place to stay

A beautiful house and grounds, private, quiet, gated, and at the end of a dead end road. The pool got plenty of use by me (glorious on hot days). The house only has AC in the bedrooms, which was fine since we went to Belize to escape a hard winter back in Detroit. We were advised not to drink the water and bottled water was provided. The only real drawback was there was no broadcast, cable, or satellite TV, all we had was Netflix, when the internet was working. The WIFI was a reasonable speed, but the internet did go down several times for short periods. The host, Rita, was delightful and lives on site. She was very helpful with local information.

Nice place

Very nice home & grounds. Was surprised to find that the washer wasn't working so planned laundry at 1 week into the trip had to be done by hand. I did not like finding out that we had to limit our use of the electricity to a certain amt of dollars when we got there. How are we to know what we are using plus since the owners oven wasn't working she showed up at 0800 to use our oven to bake a cake! It was very hot. Day we told her we were going to hang there the grounds keeper power washed the pool! Reservations were a night mare & the cost to do the reservations in Canadian funds is a draw back.

Paradise found!

We truly enjoyed our time at Casa Royale. Our hostess, Rita, is friendly and helpful and very responsive. She helped us find local restaurants and attractions, and responded within moments when we accidentally set off the alarm system! The home is well appointed with comfy beds, clean and spacious bathroom, well-equipped kitchen, and an immaculate swimming pool. The opportunity to wash our laundry on-site was an extra added bonus. The home and neighborhood is safe and secure and we felt at home and completely at ease there. There is a market conveniently just around the corner that has everything that you could need while on vacation. Ocean breezes keep the house at a comfortable temperature, but if you need air conditioning, it's there for you. What a lovely vacation experience!

Relaxing Getaway

Our 12 days in Corozal were lovely. Casa Royale was the perfect getaway for my husband and I. The house and grounds are very well maintained. We had a couple minor issues, but Rita was prompt to get them addressed.

Lovely accommodations, poor accoutrements

This is a lovely house, but it requires some attention to make it a lovely home. The mattress in the second bedroom should be replaced. For anything more than a few nights, you'll likely prefer the couch. If you already are predisposed to having back issues, you're done for. While we were there, the shower did not drain without waiting for an hour. With 4 adults getting ready, this was completely unacceptable, and could not possibly have been a "new" issue, unknown to the host. The pool is lovely, but if you're hoping to lounge around the pool, you'll be disappointed that there are no suitable lounge chairs. Who comes to the Caribbean, rents a place with a pool, not expecting to lounge around it? Kitchen supplies are lacking. I would never expect to have to buy aluminum foil, cling wrap, and the proper coffee filters. (The filters supplied are not correct causing the filter to collapse, grinds to plug up the coffee maker, and the basket doesn't seem to be removable, meaning you have to rinse the whole thing in the sink before brewing your next pot) Is this REALLY how I want to start my day? The knives are of such poor quality you can probably let your children play with them without fear of injury, but you might get hurt using them, and the BBQ is of a similar quality to things I personally throw away.

We had a nice time the house was very roomy

We loved the house it was very clean. I was really looking forward to sitting around the pool to sun since there are no beaches in the area but there were no lounge chairs at the pool they only had plastic chairs you could take outside. The bedrooms had AC but not in the living room which is where the only TV was to relaxe at night but it was just too hot. Ray was at the house when we arrived he was great checked on us daily to make sure we had everything we needed.

Beautiful grounds and close to enough to visit most anywhere.

Very beautiful place and surroundings. The Caretaker, Ray is a wonderful man. He can tell you anything about the area and went out of his way to be helpful. It was very hot in the house day and night as others stated. However, it is a very warm climate. We would definitely go there again and would recommend a stay!

We had a ball. Ray does a fabulous job hosting and meeting every reasonable request.

The property is close to town and very well appointed. The bedroom air conditioners were great. The rest of the house, though very nice, was too hot to enjoy by the afternoon.

The property was well maintained and met our needs.

Rita has a local man named Ray who checked in with us daily and was very helpful and willing to assist with any needs. The house alarm in the adjacent apartment went off for about 30 minutes during the night while the couple who were staying there left for a couple of days. The alarm was extremely loud and frightening sounding and irritating to the neighbors. Thankfully, Ray came and disarmed it, otherwise the stay was wonderful.

Very nice and neat...

House was in excellent condition, very nice and tidy. Full sized working flat top stove and referigerator. Everything about this house is set up to make you feel at home. There is even a screened porch facing the pool! House is at the end of a dead end street, so no traffic to deal with. Road to get there is a little rough, but shoot! This is Belize! Air conditioning in both bedrooms, fans in the living room. Will most definitely be coming back.

What a magnificant property!

In all our travels, this is truly one of the best places we have stayed. The grounds are well kept and the house was the greatest. It has been well maintained, the furnishings are very nice and the beds were super comfortable. The pool in the back was nice for a quick dip and sitting around for conversation. Kitchen had everything needed for preparing and serving our meals. It has a good location outside of town and some restaurants were close enough to walk to. Corozo Blues was our favorite one that within walking distance, great pizza! The Blue Iguana was a good place to have a brew and talk to some expats. Never got to try the food but heard it was very good. For us traveling to all the places around Corozal it was a perfect location. But be careful on the road to Orchid Bay and Sarteneja, it's extremely rough. Ray and Jose were very helpful in anything that we needed. Ray was there everyday to see that thing were alright, clean the pool and tidy up the grounds. It is truly the best two bedroom home in Corozal and we thank you Rita for allowing us to enjoy Casa Royale for a week. Sorry that we missed you there, we would have loved to talk with you. We are planning another trip down, don't know exactly when but soon. We will get a hold of you and perhaps we can do this again! Virginia, Grace and Greg

Nice place on the coast.

The house was spacious and secluded which we liked. The owner Rita was easy to reach and communicated often during our stay via email and a few Skype calls. We enjoyed staying there on the last portion of our honeymoon for several days, overall we really did! The bed in the master was to die for, high-end hotel quality bed and linens were awesome... The house and grounds were very beautiful as well. There were a few hick-ups that we rolled with, this is a review so we like to tell it all for those inquiring after us. We did wish the home had more kitchen tools and appliances like a blender, hand juicer, larger mixing sized bowls, for example, is something we totally missed. We had to improvise a bunch trying to prepare the majority of our meals there at the house. Another bummer was the pool, it was quite cloudy and the laundry machines were out being repaired and those things were a bummer. We did get on to the owner about our laundry situation and she had her lovely grounds keeper take our things into town and washed for us at her expense which was very needed and very nice of her. The town center is close enough to walk to in 25 mins and taxis can be arranged once you meet one or two drives and exchange WHATS APP or VIBER contacts with them. A ride should cost between $7 and $10 dollars BZ each way depending on the time of day and night ( spring 2017 ). Enjoy!

Paradise on the canal

We were only able to stay in the house for three days. Next time we will be staying for longer. The house is cozy and feels as if you just came home. Only thing you need to do in town is drive down to the local grocery store and pick up a few things and enjoy the wonderful life. Can't wait to stay there again.

About the host

Hosted by Royale Manor

Host profile image
I live in Victoria, British Columbia. and when I am not in Canada I love to spend time in Belize, usually 6 months of the year. I chose this location because it is an English speaking country in the Caribbean, is governed by British law, has terrific weather and I especially like the people of Belize. I am very interested in the Mayan culture. You will see evidence of their Mayan past as you travel thoughout Belize. The Ruins are fascinating and there are many of them.

There are so many things to see and do in this country, and getting around is easy. Visiting little villages around the area is a delight and a visit to the Mennonite communities is a wonderful experience. I enjoy visiting all the cities in Belize.
Chetumal, Mexico is close by. It's only 12 miles to the border and the Free Zone is 7 miles away. Chetumal has everything that you could need, including a Sam's Club. You'll never know you are in Mexico if you go to Liverpool in Chetumal. There they have many stores like we have in our respective countries, and they have the best that Mexico has to offer. If you're a fancier of shoes, look up the Flexi store at Liverpool.

Fill up on gas at the Free Zone before you go to Mexico. as it is duty free there. It makes a difference especially with a larger car.

We have a staff member who can accompany you to Chetumal, this helps immensely in getting through the two borders, especially if you don't speak Spanish. He/she can then give you a tour of this seaside city. The cost is $100.00 Bz (50.00 US) plus meals for the day. Everyone who uses this service is delighted, as you get to see so much more and get a better understanding of the culture. They can also recommend places to eat and shop, especially if you are looking for something special. Don't forget to look at the hammocks before you leave. Using a hammock is great for the back and is a colourful addition to your home.

Why they chose this property

Being located on a canal is a real plus, as it is only a half block to the open ocean. There is a 41 ft slip on the canal. It doesn't get much better than this, yet the home is protected by being tucked away from the ocean front which can get pretty frantic during storm season. Two sides of our property is bordered by the canal, so there is little traffic in our area. Being away from downtown is a big plus, as we are not kept up by barking dogs and the partying that goes on in Belizean and Mexican cities.

My home is unlike houses in Belize, in that it is fully equipped just like my home in Canada. The plumbing and electrical is up to American/Canadian standards, which is unusual here.

We are located at the edge of the town in an area of high end homes, so if you like being in the fray this is not the place for you. We cater to guests who appreciate the quiet atmosphere and the beauty of the surroundings. Also, the safety of being on a dead end street. Once in a while we get people who dock us points on their reveiw because of the location. That is very detrimental to us, as we try hard to give our guests a great experinece and supply much more than most hosts. We make it clear that our location is not downtown, and losing points for something that is not changeable is unfair. We see the location as a plus, so if you value peace and quiet you will enjoy the home.

What makes this property unique

I love the views from the property and enjoy the pool on a hot day. Just a dip in the pool can make my day as it is very refreshing, I also do exercises in the pool as it's a great way to relax. It is quieter here, as this is the last house on a dead end street. For that reason, I think it is safer as there is only one road in and out. We have a Neighborhood Watch on the street and everyone participates in keeping each other safe. Our alarm system also adds to our safety.
The house is about a half mile to the main highway, that will take you any where you want to go in Belize.
The house is built to Canadian and American standards, so you will feel very much at home here. We are a 20 minute walk to downtown, yet far enough away to enjoy a much quieter lifestyle.
