Waterfront cottage a short boat ride to the ocean beach

Our waterfront cottage on Chilmark Pond is a short boat ride to a stunning barrier beach on the Atlantic Ocean. There is access to Abel Hill Association tennis courts, miles of private beach for walking, swimming, body surfing and birding and Chilmark Pond for boating. In the main house there are 3 bedrooms, a spacious open, bookshelf-lined family room with a large round dining table and smaller puzzle table, a very well-equipped kitchen, a full bath and a half bath. The close-by back house has twin beds and a bunk bed, a half bath and a laundry room. It is a great place for kids or guests. Abel's Hill is a short ride to Menemsha's fish stores and great sunsets. The use of beach chairs and a canoe is included. You are also eligible with the lease to pay $100 for a parking permit to Lucy Vincent Beach a few miles away.

stay in Chilmark waterfront cottage

The property was beautifully situated on Chilmark pond and it was a short walk across it to the beach. The private beach is long and beautiful and we enjoyed many walks during our stay in the early mornings, afternoons and evenings. The pond is especially inspiring to at sunrise and early morning, The house was a charming beach cottage with plenty of room surrounded by a beautiful well-,maintained property that allowed for a very relaxing time in a country setting by the beach.

beautiful spacious home with attentive host

The host was very attentive and helpful. This is a great house for a large group because of the small house behind the main house. Well-equipped kitchen and a great outdoor shower. Very close (short drive) to beautiful Lucy Vincent Beach (free in the off season). Also lovely hiking trails close by. But, watch out for the seasonal algae blooms in the Pond which have health warnings especially for children and pets (but this is nothing the owner can control and she kept us informed before we arrived)!

Fabulous Chilmark beach location!

This is a wonderful beach house- it is literally 1 minute from beautiful, uncrowded beach. The house is showing its age and the furnishings are tired. Otherwise a wonderful rental in a superb location.

Great location, great vacation

A throughly enjoyable family vacation on Abels Hill, simply one of the best locations on MV. A terrific beach house! Jane is a great host / communicator and we would definitely rent again. And, its dog friendly as well.

The property is water front on Chilmark Pond with a 5 minute walk to the Atlantic Ocean beach. The beach is private for Abel's Hill Associate. The beach is great for relaxing, walking, and birding.
