About Mike and Mary Hayward
We have been coming to Duck for almost two decades to vacation. Each time we were here we would fantasize about owning a little something of this wonderful island to enjoy whenever we could. Finally, in 2015 we took the plunge and bought Spindrift. It is just the right size and is our special haven to escape to when the pressures of real life get to us and we need ocean beach time to regroup. We hope you too will find that peace of mind and sense of rejuvenation that we get each time we come to Spindrift. We look forward to sharing it with you and your family. We hope you will select Spindrift as your beach vacation rental to make beach memories to cherish and remember in the years to come.
Why Mike and Mary Hayward chose Duck
Spindrift is located right on the ocean on one of the most beautiful east coast beaches in the U.S. It has the best view and private access for year round beach front enjoyment! Spectacular sunrises and moon rises greet you daily! We have had so much fun making Spindrift a comfortable place to relax with many details we enjoy for our own comfort and down time. We enjoy our morning coffee on Spindrift's ocean front deck and our lovely sunsets from our sound side deck. Sometimes we see dolphins swimming right in front of Spindrift and deer grazing right in back of Spindrift! Spindrift is located only a mile and half from the town of Duck, which is a very walkable, bike and dog-friendly quaint coastal village with super friendly folk and wonderful shopping, dining and many fun things to do for you and the family. You can rent kayaks, canoes, bikes, tandem bikes, etc., to enjoy the walking/biking trail and many water activities Duck has to offer. Take yoga classes on the Duck green in the summer or in the winter practice yoga at Village Yoga. Watch family friendly free movies on Friday evenings on the town green in the summer, stroll the sound-side boardwalk for ice cream, Duck Doughnuts, and watch the ospreys nesting. We love it here and come all the time.
What makes this House unique
With the beach in front of you and great shopping, restaurants and a park within walking distance, like Village Table and Tavern, you may not want to get into your car to explore the many exciting places on the Outer Banks. There are four great lighthouses that are worth seeing - the Currituck Beach Lighthouse in Corolla, Bodie Island Lighthouse, Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and Ocracoke Island Lighthouse which you have to take a ferry to get to the island. The Whalehead Club and Wildlife Educational Center are interesting. The site of the first airplane flight by the Wright brothers is a National Park in Kill Devil Hills. The park displays replicas of the original Wright Flyer. Jockey's Ridge, the tallest sand dune on the east coast is in Nags Head. Climbing to the top to view the sunset over the sound is memorable. Keep driving south on Rt. 12 and you reach Cape Hatteras National Seashore and Oregon Inlet. A visit to the Manteo Waterfront and the Elizabethan Gardens is a great trip. Don't forget Jeannette's Pier in south Nags Head for fishing and aquariums.
