Crested Butte is NOT close to anything; it is a destination area. As a note, we are NOT close to Aspen or Glenwood or any of those places. Please look at roads on a detailed map.DIRECTIONS FROM CRESTED BUTTE ,; stay on 135 also known as Gothic Road 2.5 miles, Sign in Curve says "Welcome to Mt. Crested Butte". The 2nd road on right is Castle Road and the 3rd driveway is 18 Castle. The End unit is next to the ski easement and the parking area next to house is very flat. Kids love the place as they like to build snowmen. In the summer, the condo is great as there is lots of storage area for your bikes and the bike paths are close by. Castle Road is a dead-end street so fairly quiet. We have many people rent the extra bedrm/bath lock out, but this unit is a one bedrooms set up for 2
About P Hooge
My husband and I have lived here for 27 years. We both Alpine and Nordic ski in the winter and do small hikes in the summer. Paul graduated from The Ohio State University with undergraduate degrees in history and anthropology and a PhD in art education. He also played varsity hockey there. Kathy graduated with a degree from Ohio State in education and business. Ohio was a great place to raise our children but we loved the mountains and chose Crested Butte for its diversity for year round activities and no humidity, no bugs!
Why P Hooge chose Mount Crested Butte
NOTE: Using CDC recommending cleaning and disinfecting standards. We live in the house and you are renting the caretaker unit. Thanks `Unit is so close to the lift that you can almost ski to the door (when there is snow) and the walk is about 7 minutes up to the West Wall Quad Lift. The free shuttle stops right at our drive way in the winter every 1/2 hour (Not sure winter 20/21) and it is a 5 minute walk to the bus stop in the summer. In the summer the bus will drop you off one street before or after Castle so you can then walk or you can be dropped off at the Town Center stop at the base of the mountain and it is a short walk. What a deal! It is relaxing in the summer as Castle Road is a dead-end street and the wildflowers are stunningly beautiful. We are close to many of the bike and hiking trails in the summer. Our decks are 'second to none'. Everyone really enjoys the decks as the views are so incredible from here. We found the lot in 1993 and built the home. We wanted to be able to walk to lifts. *****Occasionally there is a renter in the downstairs separate unit and there could be some TV noise.
What makes this Condo unique
less than 7minute walk to Crested Butte Mountain lifts and close to bike trails. Bus is 5 minute walk in Summer and right at the driveway in winter. The unit is decorated in rare posters about skiing in the 1960's and 70's and the bedroom has a display about climbing and glaciers. This is a one-of-a-kind ski history unit! We chose this lot because we could ski to our door. Now there are more buildings, but we can walk to the lifts. Great for .adults and older children. NO pets or smoking allowed due to our allergies and we clean our own unit. We now follow CDC guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting and keep 2 days after your stay for more safe disinfecting. At this time we cannot do back-to-back stays. There is a pull out ottoman that makes into a single bed in the living/kitchen area. There is a picture
