Cape Me Away earns its name a little more with every hour you spend there. Mornings begin in the cheerful, sunlit main level — granite countertops, the coffee bar ready, the electric fireplace glowing on cooler days, the bay window nook waiting for whoever wakes up first with a book. The beach is 60 steps away once the group is ready, gear loaded from the stocked closet. Afternoons might mean surf, the community pool, or a long sit in the oversized covered swing downstairs — the kind of porch swing that was built for exactly the sort of afternoon breeze that rolls through Barrier Dunes without being asked. By evening the pull of the master suite becomes irresistible: the Gulf turning gold from the private sunset deck, the garden tub drawn, the Gulf view still there through the window. Cute details throughout. Thoughtful conveniences at every turn. The name says it all.
The main level is bright, open, and beautifully proportioned — fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances flowing into a dining area that seats six between the table and generous breakfast bar, into a living room with electric fireplace, Smart TV, queen sleeper sofa, and a bay window reading nook that catches the best of the morning light. The queen bedroom with its own private balcony and full bath is also on this level, opening easily to the large main deck with gas grill and both Polywood dining and Adirondack chair seating.

We loved every second of staying here as a family with our pup. Everything was clean and check in/out was super easy. Loved being so close to the beach and the rental of a cart and umbrella is a must!! We enjoyed our stay so much we reached out about extending our stay and the owners we were responsive on helping us get the extra night added! We will most definitely be back in the future.

Couldn't have Been More PERFECT! We will be back!
We enjoyed everything about our getaway! The directions we received were spot on and made it easy to get there and get in and know what to bring and ALL the things we didn't need to bring. We arrived to a clean, beautiful home and a perfect sunset!
The home had everything you could expect and then it exceed our expectations with all the little things! The beach boardwalk was just off our back deck and the beach cart made it easy to take the few steps to the beaches.
We enjoyed long walks on a quite beach, having our dog with us was wonderful, had some amazing seafood (especially liked that we could walk to Coneheads), we explored the State Park and just generally RELAXED. Couldn't have asked for a better vacation! Look forward to coming back again sooner more than later!

great time
We had a wonderful July week at your condo. It was perfect (not so much the weather!) in every way and just the right size for my wife, grandchild and dog. Beach was a real treat for us and the water cool and clean. Great spot.

White sand beach
We spent a week in this perfect setting with our dog Fergus in early April. . He loved his early morning run along miles of white sand beach as did we. The two storey condo was lovely with everything we could possibly need down to the well stocked spice rack. The only item missing was delivered the next day. The complex has a couple of tennis courts which we appreciated and with direct access to the beach and a view of the sunset from the upper deck we really lucked out and plan to return

Great Communication & Amenities! Excellent Vacation!
Wendy thank you for everything that you did to help us get a mini vacation.
Cape Escape Vacation Rentals was extremely easy to work with. Wendy made sure that we had all the information that we needed prior to our arrival on the cape and at Barrier Dunes, Waters Edge. The nicest part besides being at the beach was that for our short stay we did not need to worry about essentials, paper towels, toilet paper cooking spices etc. More importantly. we did not need to bring our own linens they were provided for humans and our pets. The condo was steps away from the beach and the park where we could snorkel and my son could fish. Beach chairs were ready and anything else you could want was waiting! Thank you so much for an excellent mini vacation!

Our new FAVORITE BEACH* Waters Edge was more well equipped than my home!
We had a WONDERFUL time and Cape San Blas is now OFFICIALLY OUR FAVORITE BEACH of anywhere we have been before. It was great to be able to take our "doggie daughter" with us instead of worry about her being away from her family. The Waters Edge was just beautiful and more well equipped than my home! We had everything we needed down to a muffin pan. We had trouble with the TV (only because we are not technologically savvy) and the manager on site was ringing our doorbell within 30 seconds of calling her. We will definitely be back! Thanks for everything!

Rental Had Everything, Barrier Dunes is Well Maintained -- Need longer than week next time!
Hi Wendy - We just loved our stay at Barrier Dunes! The unit we rented was awesome - had absolutely everything we needed. The kitchen was very well equipped and the bed and living room couches were so comfy. Sunsets from our decks were beautiful! We walked on the beach every day - loved that it wasn't crowded and that it was dog-friendly. In fact, we were often the only ones on the beach. The complex is extremely well managed - very clean, nicely landscaped, and quiet. I really appreciated all the doggie stations with bags and trash cans. Every day we ate fresh seafood from either Port St Joe or Apalachicola - the oysters and shrimp were amazing!! Definitely coming back next year, but for a longer period of time. One week was not enough!! Just loved this place - thanks - from a very happy renter.

Perfect vacation for couple seeking dog friendly beach and dog friendly accommodations!
Objective: Beach vacation with our two elderly dogs
Agenda: No alarm clock, long walks on the beach with our dogs, lots of time to read or watch a movie, evenings seeking out local seafood eats
The weather was perfect (by our standards) with temps in the 70s during the day and cooler at night. We enjoyed 9 full days on the beach with 7 sunny days and two stormy days.
The Water's Edge condo was a 3 minute walk to the beach. It was clean, well equipped, pleasingly decorated, and included all the amenities we wanted. We especially liked the tile floors for easy sweep up of any dog hair or sand. The outside shower for rinse off helped us avoid tracking very much sand indoors.
On our late afternoon arrival we stopped at Conehead's near the entrance to Barrier Dunes to eat. We would have returned again if they had been pet friendly. This is the closest restaurant to the condo.
So now we have to give a shout out to all the dog friendly places that welcomed us to dine with our 2 dogs in their outdoor seating areas:
Apalachicola Chocolate Company (ice cream and chocolate made on premises, yummy!)
Indian Pass Raw Bar
Provisions
Dockside Cafe
Tamara's Cafe Floridita
Boss Oysters
Oyster City Brewing Company (beer only, but excellent beer!)
Cafe con Leche
Weber's Little Donut Shop
In summary we had a perfectly wonderful time:
Cons: 1. Pool not heated in Dec. 2. Some restaurants closed for annual maintenance.
Pros: 1. Fewer people on beach and everywhere else. 2. No lines, no reservations needed. 3. Weather was comfortable for dogs on the beach.
ps: Our dogs loved the OYSTERBONES, pet supply store, and we loved the Wake and Bake Bread Co. - both in Apalachicola.

Great!
We had a wonderful time! Condo full of extras like laundry detergent, dish soap and dishwasher soap, etc that make packing better. These are appreciated. Beach is spectacular and even dog had a great time playing. We ate great seafood and enjoyed kayaking and biking. Master suite upstairs is lovely.

A beautiful week of family gathering
The accommodations are very good, comfortable and safe. If you have knee issues the stairs could a problem. Very quite and cozy place. You can easily drive to get groceries, go to church or other activities. The internet is OK. If you like the beaches of Florida then the beach is excellent. I came from the Caribbean area and the Florida beaches are inferior, however, some aspects of marine life are better in San Blas.
