Glen Tara is Cazadero at its best! This out-of-the-way private creekfront vacation home features redwood paneling, open beam ceilings and a dining area with views of Austin Creek. Enjoy the sunny outdoor deck, complete with a gas barbecue and seating for outdoor dining, perfect for an alfresco dining experience. Set aside some time to relax in the spa, or take in the fresh country air while you explore Austin Creek or curl up with a good book while enjoying the sound of the creek's gurgling waters.

Glen Tara's large living room, modern kitchen, bright dining room, 3 bedrooms and 1 of the full bathrooms are all located on the upper level (the main living level). All 3 bedrooms feature Queen beds. From 2 newly remodeled bedrooms, there are lovely windows to the creek and hills. A skylight illuminates the third bedroom with natural light. The main bathroom has a tub/shower combo and is conveniently located between both main bedrooms. The second bathroom (with a shower) is the only room located on the lower basement level (mostly used for storage). There are interior spiral stairs leading to the lower level bath.

Outdoors at Glen Tara is wild and great for wandering year-round Austin Creek. Experience nature under the giant redwoods with your children or splash in the creek or swim in the swimming holes nearby. Walk down the lane to renown Raymond's Bakery for fresh baked bread or pizza. The Cazadero Performing Arts Camp is also within walking distance. Glen Tara is approximately a 15 minute drive to the Russian River Resort Area

Know Before You Book:

Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at Glen Tara is 4. Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at any time.

Parking: On-site parking is permitted for a maximum of 3 vehicles. RVs, trailers and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.

Bed Sizes: First bedroom: Queen bed; Second bedroom: Queen bed; Third bedroom: Queen bed

Heat Source: Central heat. NOTE: Stone fireplace is for decoration only. Plans for future upgrades include a propane fireplace insert.

A/C: The house does not have air conditioning. Being near the coast, the night time temps drop and just opening some windows is usually enough to cool the house.

Location: Private, creekfront. Approximately 5 miles from the Russian River. Cazadero has public basketball and tennis courts.

Lovely spot in the woods

We were looking for an out-of-the-way feel and this was perfect. We loved hanging out by the creek; the platform built across the way was great; and eating outside on the deck was wonderful too. Our favorite beach on the Russian River was just about a 20 min drive away; and we also drove 20 minutes in the other direction to Goat Rock beach on the ocean. Thank you for a great getaway!

Charming Well Appointed Home

The home and property are very welcoming. Great access to Austin Creek. House and property have all you'd expect and need. One star short of five due to neighborhood congestion & rough one-lane road to maneuver going through the neighborhood to the property.

Glen Tara

An attractive and well furnished 3 bedroom property. WIFi and cable television functioned well. Note that while check out time is 12, the passcode expired an hour earlier at 11. Access lane from Cazadero Hwy the .8 miles is a single lane in places with a blind steep up and over that took getting used to. Would stay here again.

Wonderful woods getaway

Place is perfect for a weekend away from the city. Bedrooms are comfortable, location is super peaceful, kitchen is well stocked for any sort of cooking you want to do, TV has cable and WiFi is good if you need to work or veg out, and the deck is amazing with a hot tub and grill for cooking! Assuming you want to stay a bit of a drive from "town" (20 mins to Guerneville) - this is such a great jump off point for activities in Jenner, Guerneville/Monte Rio, or anywhere else in the area; and of course - the place itself makes for a lovely stay.

Dilapidated and dirty

The cabin is located at least 40 minutes from the 101, down a very narrow, one way road. Dangerously steep in places. I don't recall that in the description. One of the bathrooms is located in the creepy and dirty cellar down an extremely narrow circular metal stairway. This bathroom had cobwebs in the shower and black mold on the ceiling. The older part of the house is sloped several inches out of level. You actually feel like you are walking up or down a hill. The kitchen is dirty with cheap cabinets, damaged over the years. There was a huge smudge of, what I hope was, mud or fudge on the dining room wall. The archway in the kitchen has drywall falling down and black mold from a roof leak. The overall feel of the house is one of disrepair and neglect. A horroovie could be filmed here. Completely unhappy with the place. I have pictures if someone wants to see I am not exaggerating. I would never stay here again.

Hello Richard, Thank you for expressed your concerns and the feedback you have given. Yes Glen Tara is about 40 minutes from the 101, and you take highway 116 to get to Cazadero highway, which can be intimidating if your are not a local, or have not looked up the directions prior. This is a river/creek cabin that was built 1948 and has been lovingly maintained by the owners, and it is very typical of cabins in this area.

Such a nice place to relax. So clean, so surrounded by beauty. All the books, games, etc. you could want. Everything you could ask for, and don,t have to bring yourself. The furnishings could not have been nicer or more homey. We will try to come back next year. D. Humbel

In 1980, D&G founders and owners Michael and Patty saw a need in the area for habitable, affordable housing. At that time, many of the little cabins along the Russian River, originally built as summer cabins, were unsuitable for year-round occupancy. D&G assisted property owners with fixing up and renting their cabins. As the largest property management company in western Sonoma County, D&G Equity Management continues to be a staple in the Russian River community.

Russian River Vacation Homes is an off-shoot of D&G. One fine day in 1985, Michael's client, Bob, asked "Hey Mike, can you rent my cabin out just for the week or weekend instead of by the month?" Michael said "Sure!" and Russian River Vacation Homes was born. As renting vacation rentals became more popular, Russian River Vacation Homes grew into a full-time business with its own office. Today, Russian River Vacation Homes professionally manages over 60 high-quality vacation rentals.

Why they chose this property

Glen Tara is located in the historic peaceful village of Cazadero amongst the redwood trees. Cazadero is 12 miles to the Sonoma coast, 12 miles to Guerneville, 9 miles to Monte Rio, 7 miles to Duncan’s Mills and a short drive to Russian River Valley wineries. Cazadero has an old fashioned country store and a coffee shop. Duncan's Mills, Guerneville, and Monte Rio have a number of great restaurants. Duncan's Mills has a number of boutique shops. Monte Rio has a public beach with boat rentals (June-September), a movie theater and a small store.
