About this property

NW Indiana Hidden Getaway Home Sleeps 6

Our lovely home has many conveniences to make your stay a relaxing experience. We are frequent travel renters ourselves and know what makes a stay more enjoyable! For truck drivers needing a space to park for a couple days, we also own a business across the street from this residence that has a secure fenced-in 2 acres where guests are able to park trucks! *Please note, we require a signed Guest Agreement, and photo ID prior to check-in.**

The space
Our home is a 3-bedroom family-friendly environment. Two of the bedrooms are furnished with a queen-sized bed, and one bedroom is furnished with two twin-sized beds. A TV is included, and wifi is provided for our guests. Each bathroom will have towels available for guest use. As well as all kitchen appliances provided for guest convenience, an in-house laundry room is available in the downstairs area.

Guest access
Our guests have access to the entire home and lot. In-house laundry room is available in downstairs area. Although the basement area is accessible for laundry, it is an unfinished basement and not intended to be a living area.

Other things to note
This home includes a small fire pit that guests may use! We own the 3 acres and business across the street with conference room space available for people at an additional fee ($50 min) or small auditorium that can hold up to 80 if needed, prices are negotiable.

A home away from home in my hometown!

Convenient, cute, clean and comfortable! While staying here, I felt completely at home, although I haven't lived in this town for many years. Tom and Becky's place was just perfect, and they were the best hosts - absolutely responsive and accommodating. The house was actually larger than we expected from the photos...and we weren't even ready for the big backyard! I can't imagine staying anywhere else the next time we visit my hometown, so I hope this gem stays somewhat "hidden" and doesn't become too popular, because I'd be willing to fight for it! (just kidding; I'm more the "offer you can't refuse" type) Many, many thanks to Tom and Becky for providing a place where my family and I could just BE with all of our needs met, and no cares, concerns or worries!

Comfortable, Clean, Convenient Location

This little house provided clean, comfortable lodging for our extended family of 4 adults and 2 young children while my daughter and her husband moved out of their Merrillville apartment and waited to take possession of their new home in Dyer. Becky, the property manager, was very quick to answer our requests. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pans and utensils; and the nicely decorated Christmas tree in the dining room was a nice surprise. The kids had fun playing with the toys and games stored beneath the TV and exploring the big yard despite the cold temperatures. I found the stairway down to the unfinished basement a little precarious to get to the washer and dryer but fortunately did not have to do laundry during our stay. I would book this house again if the need arises in the future.

Super cute

Very nice place. Pretty spacious. Only thing is the door lock was a little tricky to get into when we first tried to check into the house(it took like 12 tries). After we got in it was fine any time we tried to open the lock.

Great for family, quiet, a home away from home.

Great experience. The host keeps the property very clean. We didn't pay much attention to the fact that this is a pet friendly property, until we read the guest book. The fact that we didn't even notice, is a plus. The area is very quiet. We stayed for Christmas and a Tree was decorated upon arrival. We were pleasantly surprised that the space is actually a little bigger than the pictures suggested due to having what was basically an "open floor" layout. We tend to bring most of our needs with us, especially due to having a 3 year old, so we didn't really utilize much of what was available, but the house was well-stocked with towels, cleaning products, kitchen accessories... In pandemic times, you can see that the host has done all that they can to make you comfortable. The water cooler was a plus for anyone that doesn't feel comfortable with drinking local water. The house was also stocked with lots of kids books and quite a few small toys. We couldn't figure out if this was the norm, or because the host knew ahead that we have a kid, but it was a nice touch. Just so this doesn't seem like a flawless review, there were a few very tiny things we noticed, that were in no way deal breakers. The instructions for the electronic lock seemed backwards. Except for the bathroom, there are no mirrors (and no full length mirrors) in the house. We also couldn't find a pizza cutter. The only reason it was a little strange is because they seemed to have just about everything else you might need (but, just use a knife =) ) Kid friendly cups/plates could be a plus for guests that may not be prepared. They recently had a pump replaced in the basement and it's a little bit noisy, but after we knew what was going on, it wasn't an issue. Only mentioning it in case others are seeking complete silence. The property seemed to be recently refreshed / renovated. Most of the amenities are comparable to a hotel stay. Their welcome / check out binder is easy and straight forward. It was an amazing stay and we would definitely return and highly recommend it.

Cozy cottage

Thank you for the Amazing stay. The house was spotless and had everything we needed it. My kids were happy to be able to find toys. Becky and Tom made sure to check with us if we needed anything else and that meant a lot. My family and I had a great time. We ended up adding another night which was so easy to do.

Great base camp for exploring the Dunes

Tom & Becky's place was a great spot for a weekend at the dunes. It was very comfortable and well-equipped for us to cook meals. Definitely recommend!

Cozy stay

Tom and Becky were incredibly accommodating, and thoughtful in the touches they made on the home being inviting. Our boys (2 and 4) were so excited to find books and toys just for them and I appreciated the black out curtains in their room! Big driveway and backyard to relax/ kids to play in and 15 min drive to the beach. Window AC units kept us comfortable during a blazing hot time. Overall was a cozy stay on our way back into Chicago!

House was impeccably clean. Owners thought of every small detail to make guests stay comfortable.

It was a perfect house for our ladies get away weekend. Process to rent was easy and owners were very responsive. The house was beautiful and impeccably clean. Owners even left a welcome gift and hand written note. I would definitely stay again when we return to the area.

Home Sweet Home

This is the second home I’ve stayed at by Tom & Becky! Definitely a home away from home. Very cozy and homie. I must say my favorite part of the house was the mattress! Go with a Tom & Becky house! You won’t regret it!

Cute property

There house was just what we needed for our quick family trip. An additional mirror or two would be nice, but that's not that big if a deal. Hosts left a very thoughtful and cute note with snack basket, perfect, and much appreciated, for our stay.
