Experience Louisiana, Cabin on Bayou Petite Anse, centrally located in Acadiana
Cabin:
The Cabin is centrally located in Acadiana, which includes 22 parishes in French Louisiana in the southern part of the state. The cabin’s back balcony gives you a view of Bayou Petite Anse. You may see an alligator sunning himself or looking for prey along with a bullfrog happily jumping his way down the bayou. Iberia Parish is home to 240 species of birds. During wood duck season, you can watch the wood ducks hatching in the three boxes by the wharf. Alligators, garfish and catfish make their way down the waterway in this Louisiana paradise. The cabin has kayaks with paddles and life jackets that can be used at the boat launch on the property.
The loft bedroom is decorated in a Rip Van Winkle Garden theme and is a large area that is accessed by stairs and is open to the living area. It has a king size bed and a King Coil queen air mattress that can be added if additional sleeping is needed. Rip Van Winkle Gardens is known for their peacocks walking around the grounds in all their splendor and this room is a reflection of the beauty that can be found at the Gardens.
The Tabasco themed bedroom, located downstairs, has a king bed and is directly across from the bathroom. Take time to look at the prints and items that tell the story of Tabasco. End your night by reading the beautifully illustrated book “TABASCO: An Illustrated History” by Shane Bernard. There is a TV with an apple box set up.
The newly renovated bathroom, located downstairs, offers you a choice of a roomy shower or a soaking tub.
The kitchen has brand new appliances, new granite countertops and an open floor plan. You can cook and watch the 55” TV and if weather permits, turn on the gas fireplace to warm up the place.
The laundry room has a large, full size washer and dryer. The Cabin is equipped with many cooking items from pots to baking pans, blender, mixer, omelet maker, Keurig coffee pot and more.
Parking will never be an issue. There is ample space to park.
This location is close to Downtown New Iberia, Abbeville, Lafayette, Broussard, St. Martinville, Breaux Bridge, Jeanerette and Franklin. Enjoy one of our many restaurants, all within a 10 mile radius or run to the meat market/grocery store five miles away and cook at the Cabin. There is just so much to see and do here!
Area: Tabasco is 8 minutes drive from the cabin. Jungle Gardens, the museum, the store and restaurant are walk up. Factory tours are available. The Cabin is located on Bayou Petite Anse where you can kayak down the bayou directly from the cabin to the McIlhenny Tabasco Factory. You can drive through Jungle Gardens and view the bird sanctuary. Finish your day with a tour of the factory and eat lunch at Tabasco’s 1868 Restaurant. End your day with a visit to the Tabasco country store and make sure you try the Tabasco ice cream. This destination is six miles from the Cabin and can easily be reached by car.
In the opposite direction is Rip Van Winkle Gardens. Five miles from the Cabin sits a beautiful semi-tropical garden with a tour of the Joseph Jefferson Mansion. Café Jefferson overlooks Lake Peigneur and offers tasty dishes with a southern flair. Our family favorite is Seafood Heaven. Rip’s Rookery has many species of birds, among them the Spoonbill Roseate. Jefferson Island has over 260 species of birds. It is truly a bird watchers paradise.
Konrico Company Store/Conrad Rice Mill is the oldest operating rice mill in the US and only six miles from the Cabin. Tour the Rice Mill, you can taste the rice and buy it from their store on property. Try the Wild Pecan Brown Rice. It’s our family favorite!
The Shadows on the Teche was built in 1834 on the banks of Bayou Teche and it is located six miles from the Cabin. The Spanish moss draped oaks and gardens are breathtaking. The Classic Revival-style home with a Louisiana Colonial floor plan has tours daily.
Downtown New Iberia, located six miles from the Cabin and conveniently down the street from The Shadows on the Teche, offers many restaurants, shopping and bar options. Also located downtown is the Bayou Teche Museum, a state-of-the art museum with a permanent collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the region telling the story of a growing city, its people, culture and industry all centered around the “snake-like” curves of the Bayou Teche. It also offers a “Rodrigue Comes Home” rotating exhibit of original paintings by George Rodrigue.
Visit the Paul Schexnayder Studio + Gallery and shop for paintings, ceramics, collage, wood and metal art, jewelry, prints, books and gifts from artists in the area. Three of Paul’s pieces hang in the Cabin. S

This home was perfect! The host thought of everything and was extremely helpful. The house was decorated with touches from the area , plenty of information about the are and everything you could need. The area had way more to offer than we expected and we left sadly as there was more we wanted to see. Just sitting and watching the backyard wildlife was a relaxing treat as well.
We absolutely lover our 4 day stay here and wished it could have been longer. Patti was a great host and communicated quickly ro our questions. The cabin is such a restful place, sitting on the verandah or the deck next to the Bayou. On our first morning we spotted an Aligator cruising down the Bayou. The little lift was a great help with luggage. We would return in a heartbeat.
My family and I enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was equipped with everything we needed during our stay. And my daughter loved the easter decorated fireplace mantel.
This place was amazing! It was quiet, cozy, and had so many amenities that made our stay perfect! Highly recommend, and we will definitely be back. Thank you so much Ms. Patti. Your cabin was absolutely beautiful!!!
Such a beautiful cabin. Everything that you may need, you can find there. It’s such a wonderful place to spend time with your family and enjoy the little things in life.
Excellent stay! House is clean, great location, and every detail is thought of. Hospitality at its finest, Patti truly goes the extra mile to make sure this is a wonderful experience. We loved kayaking and having a fire at night. The location is perfect for peace and quiet while close to plenty of things to do nearby.
This was our second stay at the cabin. Enjoyed it so much, returned with our daughter. Perfect location, great property to kick back and relax, or close to many enjoyable destinations to explore. Our host was very helpful, and her place stocked and set up with everything we needed for our stay. Decore and cleanliness was above and beyond. Definitely one of our favorite destinations!

Thanks so much Pamela! We try very hard to make your stay as clean and comfortable as we can. We appreciate your business.
***Exceptional***We absolutely LOVED this place!!! Ms. Patti was the best hostess ever. The cabin was even more beautiful than in the pictures. It was very clean and more well stocked than any place we've ever stayed. The cabin is so beautiful. We usually do beach condos. We're really not the lake cabin or camper types, but this place is as luxurious as any beach condo. I spent a lot of time in South Louisiana as a child, so it was nice to take my family there. My boys loved the fishing, the turtles and gators. There is so much to do and it is so relaxing at the same time. It is the true experience of the area. We are dying to get back! This place is the BEST!!!
My family loved our weekend stay here. Patti was awesome and has created such an inviting space. We loving sitting out by the water, visiting the Rip Van Winkle Gardens and kayaking on the bayou.

So glad you enjoyed your visit and took in some of the sights. We have some beautiful areas to see in our area.
Stayed here for 4 nights, realized the day before we arrived I booked the wrong date and the host was super fast helping us add a night. The cabin is in a little neighborhood but feels private. We had 4 kids with us, 7 and under, and it was family friendly and even had a baby gate to set up for the stairsIt’s close to all the things we wanted to see like Avery Island and was super clean. It also had a huge tub which the kids loved. Would stay here again it was great!
We came in for a twirl competition for my daughter and we will definitely be back! This cozy cabin was exactly what my family and I were looking for. The view is gorgeous, the cabin is cozy, and the decor is absolutely adorable. Great communication, definitely recommend!
We had such a nice little vacation here! The house is beautiful and well appointed—Patti even decorated it lavishly for Mardi Gras. We loved the location because we could go off in all directions to find things to do and fabulous restaurants. Only one tiny suggestion: the beautiful bathtub is very slippery and dangerous for getting out—it could use a nonslip pad or strips and something to grab when exiting the bath. Patti was attentive to our every need, just the best host ever!

Thanks for the suggestion. I love when guest let me know how I can make an improvement as it is you, my guest that I am trying to please. That is an easy fix. So glad y’all enjoyed your stay.
Patty provided us the perfect escape from New Orleans. The house was perfectly appointed. There were amenities like coffee, champagne, and basic condiments. There were plenty of outdoor and indoor activities. She provided several recommendations of places to visit, some of which we did. We highly recommend her house. Thank you!

So happy you enjoyed the extras provided in the cabin. We love to help our guests have an enjoyable stay.
We have stayed here once before and throughly enjoyed our stay. So we booked again for 2024 Christmas. The property is wonderful all our needs were met and then some. The weather was much better this year over last year so we spent a good deal enjoying the outside areas. This is a great property very well managed and professionally up-kept. We will definitely be back again and again.
We absolutely love this place. There were surprises left for us when we arrived. Christmas tree and decorated mantle, yummy muffins and a bottle of champagne. We highly recommend staying here. If we get back to this area there’s no others place that we would stay.
Wonderful, responsive owner. Patti thinks of everything. Most accommodating hostess ever. The home is beautiful, and very relaxing. Will definitely stay again.
