About this property

Sea's Calling - Soundside Home in Kinnakeet Shores - Walk to Beach and Pool

Great house located in the village of Avon, along the Outer Banks Scenic Byway. Avon is just south of one of the longest stretches of unspoiled National Seashore on the Outer Banks. We continue to make updates and improvements both inside and out. Our comfortable, clean home in family friendly Kinnakeet Shores is ready for your beach getaway!

Sea's Calling is just a quick, easy walk to the beach, and close to community amenities, shopping, and dining. We're just a short drive from the "Canadian Hole," an epic kite boarding and windsurfing spot. The famous Cape Hatteras lighthouse is minutes away. Renting from Saturday to Saturday weekly during June, July and August, and with a four night minimum during other months. Sea's Calling features dual zone AC and heat for your comfort. With beds for eight, three decks, lots of outdoor seating and two picnic tables for outdoor dining, our house is perfect for a relaxing family vacation.

Enjoy your morning coffee on the upper deck overlooking a view of Kinnakeet Shores and Hatteras Island. Spend your day at the large private community pool, playing tennis or pickle ball, surf fishing, or just "beaching it." Stroll for miles along uncrowded Atlantic Ocean beaches, collecting seashells and observing nature. Sit on the rear deck at sunset and enjoy the beautiful colors in the western sky. An outdoor hot water shower will provide a refreshing way to wash off the sand and salt as you end your day outdoors. In the evening, sit on the upper deck and be amazed by the stars above.

When you arrive at Sea's Calling you will enter the lower level which contains a washer and dryer for your laundry needs. The second level has two tiled baths and three tastefully decorated bedrooms. Fresh linens are provided for all beds and a basic bath towel set is provided for each guest. In the first bedroom you will find a double bed and two bunks. The second bedroom has a queen bed with a memory foam mattress and ceiling fan. The third bedroom, the master, has a king bed with memory foam mattress, an ensuite bathroom, a ceiling fan, and its own doorway to the lower deck. Here you can enjoy a shaded area and the porch swing to read, relax, or grab some quiet time. Each bedroom has a flat screen TV and DVD player with DirecTV satellite access.

The top level features an open concept with a fully equipped kitchen and a spacious deck. Off the kitchen is a large vaulted great room with living and dining space and a half bath. In addition to the breakfast bar seating for 3, a pub-height dining table seats 6 people. The living room features a 49 inch TV and Blu-Ray player for your entertainment. TV service includes 140 TV and music channels. In addition, there are movies, puzzles, cards, books, and family games for you to enjoy. Outdoors, there is a horseshoe pit, fish cleaning station, and a patio with grill, seating, and a picnic table. We offer free WiFi throughout the house.

For the kiddos, we have a Pack N Play, attachable booster seat with tray, highchair, and umbrella stroller. There is a safety gate at the upper deck steps and collapsible ones for indoor use. There is a deck box with beach toys, beach chairs, and a beach cart. You'll find a cooler and tennis equipment for your use. And if you visit during cooler months, our electric fireplace will provide comfort and atmosphere.

Last but definitely not least, relax in our private hot tub, located for all-weather use, and refresh yourself from the day’s activities. Whatever the time of day you will love it! And our service company will clean upon your departure!

About the host

Hosted by Gary and Mary Joyner

We have long held ties to the Outer Banks, and for years rented beach properties for our own OBX vacations. Having spent time in every OBX area, we feel a special affinity for Hatteras Island and the southern portion of the Outer Banks, as it remains much the same as it was when we first began visiting many years ago. We are both busy professionals and our time at the beach to decompress is treasured. Gary for years chased big game fish in his boats off the Outer Banks from the ports of Oregon Inlet and Hatteras. Now with Avon conveniently located, he loves to drive to the Hatteras docks at 4:00 and see what the fleet brought in, maybe following up with dinner while in Hatteras Village. Mary loves and enjoys the beach from sunup to sunset and we both enjoy being on the OBX all times of the year. Owning this home is the culmination of our dream for years to own a beach property. Enjoying the fresh seafood, shooting images of the natural beauty, enjoying every sunrise and sunset over the waters of the ocean and sound and sharing with friends and family all mean something special to us. Having this home in Avon to share with our guests allows us the opportunity to provide a comfortable and embracing place from which you can enjoy all the Outer Banks has to offer.
With our purchase in 2015, we began updating the home and have added several new pieces of outdoor furniture, a porch swing on the lower deck, a new grill, a new hot tub and deck, a fish cleaning station, a new heat pump for fall and winter getaways, a 49" flat screen TV in the living area, an electric fireplace for the cooler months, fresh paint, and many new decorative items. We completed a second phase of replacing windows, siding and exterior paint in 2019. We also replaced the rear deck. In 2018, we replaced the kitchen cabinets, counters, bar top, and flooring on the entire upper level and resurfaced the upper deck.

Why they chose this property

Great amenities such as the Community Pool/Tennis Courts, walking trails around neighborhood, easy beach access, and bike lanes through the village. The village of Avon is nestled within stretches of protected National Seashore, which helps preserve a special feeling of unspoiled beauty. Truly a three season location and close to the warming waters of the gulf stream offshore, Avon offers as much fun and comfort in the early spring and fall seasons as it does in the heart of summer. With proximity to the famous Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, and easy travel to the villages of Buxton and Hatteras, there are lots of things to do and see. Kinnakeet Shores is a quiet cul de sac community and is very kid and family friendly, with no through streets. Easy walk to community amenities area. If you fish, surf, SUP, kite surf, windsurf, kayak, or simply soak up the sun at the beach, there is something nearby to keep you engaged in your favorite activity. Sea’s Calling offers a comfortable and relaxing place to call home while at the beach. The home is close to Food Lion for groceries and various restaurants for dine-in and take-out. It is an easy walk to the Avon Pier with all its activities and fishing.

What makes this property unique

EZ, safe walk to the beach. Close to groceries and amenities. Quiet, well-kept upscale community with pool and tennis included.
