About this property

Summer is coming and great dates are still available!! Bring the whole family!!!

If you love the cottage experience, you will love Big Blue. Big Blue is a charming refurbished vintage 1920's cottage on the Hill. There are three large bedrooms, 2 queens and 1 set of twins, all with lovely wooden floors. The upstairs bathroom has a whirlpool tub/shower and tile floors. The galley-size bathroom on the first floor has a step-in tiled shower and tile floors. The large living room/dining room has the original walnut paneling, with antique oak dining table and chairs and comfy wicker and rattan couch and chairs. There is a screened in porch through the sliding glass doors in the dining room where you can sit and have your morning coffee and listen to the birds. The kitchen is huge, completely furnished, with lots of counter space for cooking or projects.

Rainy Days? Connect to WIFI, stream your favorite channels or watch a dvd. Plus numerous games and puzzles.

Outside are 3 different decks, all attached with different seating options. The huge back yard has mature trees and plants and is so peaceful. Big Blue comfortably fits 6 people with plenty of space to do your own thing. There is a washer, dryer, and high chair.

THE FIREPLACE IS NON-OPERATIONAL AND WE DO NOT ALLOW FIREPITS.

We allow dogs although there is not a fenced in yard. We do have a pet fee.

Big Blue is just 7 blocks from downtown Saugatuck; an easy walk to shopping and restaurants. Plenty of parking on site (but don't park under the walnut tree--those can dent your car or head).

Parking is not an issue as you will have the whole driveway to yourselves.

Girls trip 2023
Pros - The house was adorable. Great location. Easy to find. Easy to check in. Good communication from the owners. Would stay again. Cons -The living room furniture was uncomfortable. Seamed to be wicker outside furniture. Upstairs bath tub should have some kind of safety slip resistant on the bottom of the tub. Slippery when wet.

Perfect getaway
What a great place to stay in a perfect Saugatuk location. Just a short walk to all the fun spots downtown, and a quaint house with lots of character! Games and space for the kids and adults were easily accessible, hosts were super responsive and helpful, and comfy accommodations in a quiet and beautiful neighborhood. If you’re looking for a home away from home, this is it! Stairs are a little steep for toddlers so keep the littles in the downstairs bedroom, but also…that’s what you get in an older house. We were a little concerned for a moment when we couldn’t find the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle provided by our hosts, but we quickly found it and the vacation quickly got back on track :) Thank you E & C for providing such a lovey space for a family that will be back!

Great Location, Great Service - property needs improvements
The location is great about 3 blocks from downtown. The front screened in porch is amazing and a huge kitchen table. The downstairs bathroom leaves alot to be desired. The shower fan was broken and made a horrible noise. They had to come disconnect it and put in a light bulb. That bathroom had no window treatments and we had to cover it with a towel and duck tape. It was wide open for the neighbors to see in. The sink in that bathroom is about the size of a 1950's water fountain with a kitchen faucet on it. The mirror is of no use. The upstairs bathroom needs new shower curtains as they were rust colored on the bottom. The bathroom door handle fell off from just pulling it. They came and fixed it and it broke the night before we left. I gently pulled the door and it came off in my hand. The drain for the washer was backed up on the day we came. They did fix it and we were able to get a load of laundry done. They did not have any washing machine detergent, coffee filters, and the bathroom soaps and shampoos were probably bottles left by previous guests. We had brought our own. For the price we paid I expected it to be cleaner and stocked. The owner was prompt when we let him know we did not have detergent to wash our clothes and brought it right over. Same with the coffee filters. Just things that should have been done before we got there and not have to ask for. The owner/property manager was super responsive and did bring over a puzzle and found an extra

Sans kids
Location excellent. Very clean. Owners incredibly attentive, responsive and kind. The grill wasn’t working properly and they brought us a new one. There wasn’t a proper cutting board so they brought us a new one. Like I said, very attentive. Only drawback are the stairs to the upper level, they are very steep. It was a lovely place and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Ernie and I retired to Saugatuck from Nebraska 15 years ago and have loved every minute. There is so much to do and enjoy. We drive through town and say "I can't believe we live here". Restaurants, shopping, boating, hiking, sight-seeing, plays, art.....it goes on and on.

Why they chose this property

If you love the cottage experience, you will love Big Blue. It is a 1930's home that has been updated but still has that cottage feeling. All wood floors, walnut walls, a country style kitchen and screened in porch are part of the quaintness. There are 3 deck areas in the back under the huge pine trees for you to enjoy. Saugatuck is 6 blocks away....a short walk through the old neighborhoods.

What makes this property unique

There is plenty of parking (you have the whole drive way so room for everyone's cars), you can walk downtown (6 blocks), pet friendly, Streaming TV, ice maker, WIFI, DVD, 3 decks, large back yard for games, screened in porch to drink coffee and watch the world go by.

Want to go to the beach? We have the chairs and towels, toys and life jackets.
