A Cottage for Couples: Quaint, Comfortable and Convenient.

"The Lighthouse" is a SPECIALTY RENTAL for COUPLES ONLY who are looking for an intimate experience in a tranquil environment. It has a simple, at-home atmosphere that's fully furnished and decorated for those vacationers looking for that "home away from home" feel. It's located in a quiet neighborhood that's a welcome respite from the throngs of vacationers that pack the downtown area and beaches, but yet close enough within walking distance without the hassles of searching for available parking spaces.

The property abuts what is known as the "Celery Pond" area of South Haven that includes a portion of the Kal Haven Trail and State Park. The backyard offers the maximum in personal privacy with an expanse of trees and foliage that gives the impression of being in a forest. The deck and master bedroom provide an exquisite view of this soothing vista.

The home is spacious for two with all the amenities one would expect from home. On the second floor, there's a master bedroom with a sliding glass door and balcony; plenty of closet space with drawer space for incidentals; an upstairs half-bath with a shower; and a linen closet stocked with towels and toiletries. On the ground level, there's a "keeping room" equipped with futon (not for sleeping) and TV and the same spectacular view as seen from the master bedroom; a kitchen fully equipped with microwave, coffee maker, toaster, pots and pans, silverware, eating utensils, fridge with ice maker and stove; a full bath; a dining room that seats four; a reading room with a computer stand; a living room with ceiling fan and window AC for added comfort. There is high speed internet access and some streaming platforms are provided for guests on both TV sets.

The deck has a table with an attachable umbrella and chairs and a charcoal grill. A private driveway is available for parking but guests are not allowed access to the garage.

If you are looking for an intimate getaway for two, then perhaps this is the place for you. Our goal is to offer something unique and affordable for those who desire some quiet and quality time with a special guest while enjoying the excitement and amusements of a South Haven vacation getaway.

Nice place, Great location

Very nice home just outside of the busy downtown area. Owner was very kind and accommodating. Shops and dining were within walking distance and beach is a 3min drive away.

My wife are from central Indiana and stayed here for a summer getaway. House was very clean and close to downtown south haven. There are at least 3 public beaches within a mile. Will do this getaway again.

Annual SeaDoo Trip

Location is very convenient to everything—restaurants, downtown, launch ramp, beaches and stores. It’s also close to the freeways. Blue Star Highway runs along Lake Michigan which is a nice scenic way to explore other towns and activities. Thank you Marc for the gorgeous bouquet of flowers for our Anniversary. Carolyn is a pleasant Property Manager as well. Your prompt response to our inquiries was excellent and appreciated.

The accommodations and home were quite comfortable. Its location to attractions in downtown South Haven are easily accessible on foot. With a little extra effort, the outside patio and other spaces could have been cleaner and better kept.

Convenient and Clean

We had a lovely long weekend there for my wife's milestone birthday. The home was convenient for walking to town and to the beach and to the Kal-Haven Trail, and we did all of those. The home was very clean and well-equipped with towels, linens, soaps, and paper supplies. The lighthouse decor was amazing -- it would have taken hours to count all the lighthouses in there, and I'm sure we would have still missed some of them. Marc, the host, was very responsive, and the neighborhood was nice and quiet.

Perfect South Haven home

We had a perfect extended weekend in South Haven. The home was in a fantastic neighborhood location, walkable to downtown shops and restaurants and even to the beach. Home was comfortable, well furnished and just right for our time there. Loved exploring farmers market, quaint shops and a fun cruise in a 1929 Chris-craft runabout booked out of the Maritime Museum. This home is just the best for a short South Haven visit.

Great get away for couples

Nice house for a beach vacation for two. 5 minute walk to town, 5 minute drive to beach! It has a front room , family room, dining room , full kitchen etc. Marcus is very responsive and a great host. highly recommended.

Clean comfortable home in a great location.

A great place for a long week-end for my wife and I as we celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary. The house is in a nice, quiet neighborhood that is convenient to the beach and the city of South Haven. It is also a quick car trip to Van Buren State Park, Saugatuck or St. Joseph. The place had everything we needed.

Our 'Home Away From Home'!!!

My husband and I love South Haven as a vacation destination!!! Being only a 3 1/2 hour drive from our Ohio home is nice! We have visited numerous times with our kids and grandkids, but this was the first time for just the two of us! Also our first time staying on that side of town. Before we even unpacked, we wanted to check out the home! The first thing I noticed and commented to my husband, was how fresh and clean the house looked and smelled - no musty smell! Each room was prettier and much nicer than the online photos - such charm and coziness! I personally loved the small burgundy 'waiting' room and found a bit of time to 'close myself off' and read! Beautiful artwork/photos graced each room and the color schemes were lively and refreshing! There were bottles of water in the fridge and a good supply of essentials in the kitchen and bathrooms! The upstairs bedroom/bath was cozy - we just had to get used to the 'angles' as my husband is tall! Being only a couple of blocks to the downtown area was a plus and we walked down often! We did drive to the beaches as we had so many goodies to take with us! Even though the home is in a residential area, the wooded back yard made it seem very private and we enjoyed relaxing and reading on the deck! One morning we did venture out to the Kal-Haven Trail, thinking it was close by, but the beginning of it was about 1/2 mile away. Once we found it, we did enjoy our walk! We certainly wished we would have had a longer stay, but we enjoyed our time here and would definitely come back to this 'couples cottage'!

Hidden treasure!

My husband and I just stayed at this property for a long weekend and would highly recommend it. It is located in a quiet neighborhood that is within walking distance of downtown and riding distance of the Kal-Haven trail. The home is nicely decorated in a lighthouse theme. It is very clean, spacious, comfortable, and fully equipped. Marc, the owner, is friendly, extremely accommodating, and communicates promptly about any concerns you may have as a renter.
