What We Love

This modern compact apartment on level one of a contemporary Bourke Street building is the perfect cozy nook. The open-plan layout makes smart use of space with the kitchen, living, and dining flowing together naturally, and floor-to-ceiling sliding doors opening directly onto a covered balcony. The building’s dark brick façade carries through to the balcony’s half-rise privacy wall.

The kitchen is fitted out in matte black cabinetry with stone benchtops, a four-burner gas cooktop, under-cabinet LED strip lighting, and a mirrored splashback. A Clark stainless-steel sink sits beneath matte black tapware, and the full suite of appliances, oven, rangehood, microwave, kettle, and toaster means you’re fully set up from day one. The round glass dining table seats four and sits adjacent to the balcony doors, making indoor–outdoor dining easy. The living area is styled with a grey fabric sofa, blue velvet armchair, and a large flat-screen TV on a black media unit.

The bedroom is separated from the main living area and fitted with built-in robes, dual timber bedside tables, and bedside lamps. Calm, uncluttered, and well-lit. The bathroom is fully tiled in taupe subway tiles with a frameless rain shower, full-width LED-lit mirror cabinet, and a floating vanity on a black steel frame with a timber shelf underneath. The Fisher & Paykel washing machine is integrated into the bathroom, neatly tucked behind a cabinet door.

Out on the balcony, rattan bucket chairs and a small BBQ make it an easy place to sit with a coffee in the morning or fire up the grill in the evening. The surrounding rooftops and tree canopy give it a quiet, residential fee.

About the host

Hosted by L’Abode Accommodation

Host profile image
Straight off the family sheep farm on the Kiwi Isle I landed in Sydney sans gumboots and to a lack of short term fully furnished accommodation. Complaining about said predicament over a glass of Pinot led to an ‘Interesting Idea’ presenting itself: If only people were willing to rent out their homes while they went away on holidays! Extra travel dollars for them, unique alternatives to a hotel and a genuine local experience for travellers like myself!

Minus a car and laptop the whole growing a business idea was going to be a little problematic. L’Abode was born on my bedroom floor with the support of a GoGet car and a part-time job to pay the bills. I started with a handful of owners who agreed with me about my ‘Interesting Idea’ (kudos to them!) and the whole thing started to gain legs. L’Abode soon became a team of two (me and my long-standing marketing guru) and L’Abode’s collection of properties quickly doubled. Then tripled. L’Abode’s rapid expansion resulted in my landlord terminating the lease on my apartment due to ‘highly suspicious’ key drop-offs. And thus it appeared, the need for an office and more staff was imminent!

From its humble Sydney beginnings L’Abode now boasts a fast-growing collection of bespoke properties Australia wide. With spaces ranging from quirky inner city lofts to luxurious estates in stunning destinations, L’Abode offers the 5 star luxuries of a hotel with the freedom, space and comfort of a real home.

We look forward to welcoming you into our collection.

Lisa
