About this property
Skywalk / GCW / Lake Mead / Colorado river home near Meadview
Fantastic view of the Grand Wash Cliffs in the beautiful Joshua Tree high desert, centrally located between Lake Mead (South Cove boat launch is closed due to low water), the Colorado river and the Skywalk / Grand Canyon West.
The Grand Canyon South Rim, Village and North Rim are over 200 miles away. It is a beautiful drive on the famous Rte. 66 from Kingman to Seligman, but it takes at least 4 hours to get to the South Rim.
For same or next day bookings please contact me, might be able to accommodate you.
For little ones: Play 'n Pack and baby gate.
Accessibility: Front and back door parking, entry steps are 2" pavers, no steps inside, and the master bath has pull bars by the toilet.
Aside from the Skywalk (about 45 minutes from the house), this is NOT a tourist area and even on holiday weekends it's rather quiet around here. Meadview has two restaurants, a bar, the Gas n Grub (wine and beer), Family Dollar, Ma's Market (some produce), a little post office, and not much more.
I love living in the desert, watching the sunsets, the stars, and the Milky Way. In spring the wildflowers and cacti may be in full bloom if we get enough winter rains.
If you drive an SUV or a car with good clearance, you can go on a number of dirt roads for magnificent views. But even the smallest rental car will get you to Lake Mead, the Colorado River, and the Skywalk.
Many guests enjoy watching the countless birds, rabbits, and quail (I leave water out for them), but be careful where you step -- we do have rattlesnakes here.
We have brochures for local attractions such as old mining towns, etc. As a resident since 2000, I'll be happy to give you lots more info.
THE HOUSE:
Enjoy this sparkling clean and spacious home with 3 bedrooms and a twin mattress in the master bedroom closet that can be moved to the living room. The new sectional is light, can easily be moved apart and all cushions are removable for extra sleeping space.
The living room has a 42" TV (HDMI etc. and Phoenix channels), DVD player, Bluetooth speaker, and of course, there's WIFI. An android compatible TV and DVD player are in the master bedroom.
I provide organic condiments and staple foods like spaghetti are available for purchase in the Cash Pantry.
You'll find beach towels, blankets, coolers and folding beach chairs in the hallway closets.
4 folding chairs are in the laundry area.
GUEST ACCESS:
Guests may use the entire house. Outside are a propane bbq, patio table and chairs so you can enjoy our beautiful sunrises and sunsets outdoors. Feel free to move additional chairs outside and be comfortable -- enjoy your stay!
IMPORTANT NOTES:
This is the high desert with hot days, cold nights and often strong winds. Please bring clothing for any weather. We are around 3700 ft. elevation, but Lake Mead and the Colorado river are much lower, around 1200 ft. and on sunny days it's warmer at the lake and river. Winter daytime temperatures are usually in the 50s - 60s, but it does freeze at night frequently.
The closest supermarket is in Kingman -- 60 miles away. Meadview has a Family Dollar store and Ma's Market sells produce. The Gas N Grub sells beer, wine and ice cream. Stores close by 7 - 9 pm, depending on the time of year.
I will be happy to answer any questions!

About the host
Hosted by Christine Baker
My off-grid home is about 10 miles south of Meadview and 6 miles from the house.
Please let me know if you are interested in any greens/veggies/fruit from my organic permaculture garden. From fall through spring I also grow hydroponic salad, herbs and greens.
My home is still unfinished and I love building with adobe, cob and lime, incorporating passive solar, and I often host volunteers.
I prefer the Colorado river to Lake Mead because the river beach is sandy with NO rocks, the water is cooler and there's even shade in the late afternoon. I enjoy watching the occasional beaver, cranes, and all sorts of birds.
Summer 2023: Due to the massive snow melt the river beach is often flooded as they release more water from lake Powell for Lake Mead.
Why they chose this property
I manage the vacation rental for an estate and enjoy hosting visitors from all over the world.
What makes this property unique
The house is sparkling clean and spacious, with amazing views of the Grand Wash Cliffs and surrounding mountains.
The setting is very private and quiet and there's lots of RV / boat parking.
The perfect place to get away from the hustle and to destress and relax! Enjoy spectacular sunsets and star gazing!
I have lived near Meadview since 2000 and I'll be happy to share sightseeing and hiking info according to your preferences and vehicle.
While even the smallest rental cars can get to Grand Canyon West (Skywalk), Lake Mead, and the Colorado River, it helps to have 4WD or at least extra clearance for more remote adventures.
