About this property
Why rent a flat? Stay in a historic Victorian Cottage w/ Private walled Garden
Character-filled, 2 bed Victorian end-terrace cottage with private walled garden. Instead of being in a flat with people above or below you, why not rent an entire house? Located on a quiet street in a conservation area, but just down the road (3min) from bustling Camden Stables Market, there are great transport links nearby for all 4 airports and is very convenient for Eurostar. Also very easy to get to Wimbledon, Wembley, Tottenham, Stratford & Twickenham stadiums as well as West End Theatres from the house. It is ideally located! It has kingsize and double beds, as well as a comfy double sofa bed and can accommodate 6 people. The private back garden has an outdoor sofa and teak wood bistro set and serves as a private outdoor living room. It's a perfect place to enjoy morning coffee/tea, evening drinks and/or cook up a gourmet meal after visiting one of the local farmer's markets.
The house is on a quiet tree lined street in a conservation area in the heart of Camden. Camden market literally at the other end of my short road, a 2-3 minute walk away. Primrose hill, London Zoo and Hampstead Heath are all a 5-10 walk away. The rest of London is easily accessible from here as well.
It's got great transports links all times of day, even late at night -- which is quite rare in London. Camden Tube, Chalk Farm Tube and Kentish town west overground stations are within 1-9 min walk. Local buses 24 and 168 can also be used to get in Soho/west end and waterloo/southbank quickly and easy. The 31 bus takes you straight to Notting hill. The 46 bus, which is 1min away, stops directly outside St Pancs for easy Eurostar travel. Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and Stansted are very convenient from this central location. (Let me know before your arrival and I will let you know the quickest/easiest/cheapest way to travel to/from your destination.) Parking is severely restricted around the house, as we are so close to the Market. That said, parking is free around the corner from 6.30pm Friday to 8.30am Monday should you bring a car with you.
I'm happy to have as much or as little interaction as you'd like.
This is my primary residence which I live in when it's not rented out. It is not a soulless rental property. (I leave the closets and shelves empty of personal belongings for guest use). The kitchen is fully equipped and stocked with all necessary pans, plates, etc. (I have an herb garden out back that you are welcome to help yourself to.) You get the best of both: a house that's lived in and cared for by an owner but that is set up for visitors. (For example: There are lots of house plants inside and the outside gardens are well looked after to provide year round flowers and interest, unlike most rental properties.)
Guests have access to the entire house: 2 double Bedrooms, kitchen/dining room, living room, and bathroom. The living room can be set up as a 3rd bedroom as it has a sofa bed that sleeps 2, leaving the kitchen diner and outdoor sofas as leisure spaces to hang out. In addition to typical holiday rentals, I've also had many 5 star rated longer-term stays, hosting a range of people in scenarios such as: professors on semesters abroad at UCL, London business school (and the like), professionals on sabbatical, retirees on extended stays in London, local Londoners with pets who are having work done to their own properties. Please get in touch if you're looking for a stay 90+ days.
Note: I used to have cats, but don't have them anymore. The house has been cat free since 2019. I often host people with dogs as the walled garden and park across the road make it very convenient for furry friends. The house interior will be repainted and other maintenance on the house will be done over the month of September 2025. Bookings from Oct 1st will have slight differences in interior design as paint colours will change (slightly), window repair undertaken and other maintenance / repair needs will be addressed.

About the host

An American living in London since 2003. Love to travel but still love living in London.
Why they chose this property
This is not your typical rental property. It is a full time home. It is full of charm and character. Why stay in a flat, as part of a multi-unit building with people below and/or above you, when you can have an entire place to yourself?
The property is on a very quiet and quaint street (in a conservation area) where all the homes are period terrace properties built between 1845-1860s. While the street itself is quiet, it is right in the heart of the hustle of vibrant Camden Town and buzz of Hip Kentish Town. Everything you need is on your doorstep. The house itself has large windows with original shutters and a very rare private (not overlooked) walled patio garden. It is ideal for spring, summer and autumn vistors who want to kick back and relax with a cup of coffee or glass of wine in the rising or setting sun.

What makes this property unique
Also the house has wonderful transport options. All London airports are relatively easy to get to/from and the 46 bus stops literally around the corner and takes you straight to/from St Pancras in 5-10 mins which makes it perfect for Eurostar. There are also lots of late night public transport options in quick and easy walking distance, which is very rare. (Many lines/routes stop around 11pm, but the house is served by buses/tubes that run all night).
