Had a great weekend! The house was super convenient to everything in Bardstown! Would recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in-town Bardstown!
House is in a great location. Very close to the lovely downtown. Bathroom is very large and comfortable. Everything was clean and well decorated. We had everything we needed. The furniture in the TV room is not comfortable but if you aren’t spending a lot of time in the house that won’t matter.
This is a very charming home. A lot of care and thought went in restoration we loved the fireplaces and original hardwood floors. The kitchen and bathroom had up to date appliances and were largeOver all very enjoyable , comfortable and pristine home.
This is a cute home! It had a warm feeling throughout. Great bathroom size, nice kitchen, bedrooms comfortable, two sitting areas, and a front and side porch. We enjoyed sitting outside and chatting with people passing by. The bakery across the street provided an easy treat and we could walk everywhere we wanted to go in town.
We had a wonderful time at the Bourbon Cottage! The house is much larger than described and was everything we wanted for our time in Bardstown. Maybe the only regret was not getting to the bakery every morning of our stay. Don’t pass on the Yum Yums or the pecan bars. Thanks for a special time at the Cottage!!
Very cute and charming house with large, modern bathroom. Loved the location. Unfortunately, the beds (especially the primary) were not very comfortable.
Really enjoyed the house. Very quaint, clean, well decorated and supplied. The location is convenient, my only issue is that there was a significant amount of noise from the cars and people going by. It is on a very busy street. Music from downtown Bardstown on Friday night. Ear plugs were provided by the owner.
This was our second time staying in the Bourbon Cottage. We fell in love with it - and the charming town - even more the second time around! Margaret Sue is a great host!
Bourbon Cottage was immaculate, beautifully decorated and conveniently located to everything happening in downtown Bardstown. Plenty of parking, we parked on the street and felt very comfortable doing so. The cottage is spacious, we actually never used the beautiful parlor. Loads of closet space and comfy beds. Definitely stay here!
Great little house. Had all the necessary things, plus those lovely added touches that take a place over the top. Loved having coffee supplies, esp the bourbon coffee -we only stayed 4 nights so not having to provide our own was great. Location was awesome, didn't have to drive once we were in town for the night. Able to walk to the ice cream shop and the speakeasy.Laundry machines were easy to use. Overall great stay, would recommend.
Had a wonderful time staying at the cottage. It was decorated with antiques and felt a home away from home, we were sad to leave. Even the neighbors were friendly offered suggestions on where to go for dinner/ drinks.

About the host
Hosted by Margaret Sue Masters
Hello, I am Margaret Sue Masters and I along with my husband, Michael Masters, known as "The Colonel", have bought and restored the Bourbon Cottage in 2015. We have been in the hospitality business for over 20 years in Bardstown. We have revived and restored 4 cottages for vacation rentals in the historic district of downtown Bardstown. In 2004 we bought and restored the Chapeze House, circa 1787, downtown off the court square. In 2010 we converted this property into the Kentucky Bourbon House, a Boutique Hotel wtih charming private suites. We also conduct in the Bourbon Bar 2 classes: Bourbon University and Bourbon Mixology twice daily Mon-Sat. We also host intimate wedding ceremonies and elopement packages. Couples can choose to marry in the elegant parlor or in the formal garden that makes up the backyard. Come and experience our "Hospitality Kentucky Style"......
Why they chose this property
I have loved this cottage and property it sits on for over 25 years. When it finally came on the market I jumped at the chance to own and restore it back to its GLORY! Flaget Avenue is one of Bardstown's premier addresses right in the heart of downtown Historic Bardstown. Sit on the porch and take in all the sites , sounds and smells (Hadorn's Bakery being next door!) that makes Bardstown truly a magical place to visit.
What makes this property unique
Bardstown is a busy little town! Our downtown has limited parking, however, Bourbon Cottage answers that parking deliemma. It's downtown close to all the attractions, restaurants, bars and nightlife, but the great thing about this cottage is you can walk and never move your car from the driveway. You are right in the thick of it all but with no parking hassles!!!
