It was a great property. Fully equipped kitchen is super nice and linens etc was a bonus. Biggest complaints were not having AC, check in process we were given a code that didn’t work and had a neighbor come by and open the door for us which was also weird because she had a different code then the one we were given and obviously could access the building at any point during our stay. The same neighbor was super unfriendly as well which made things a bit more awkward being on vacation. Owner or agent not sure who he was but his name is John did a great job reassuring and apologizing for our experience and we diefinietly appreciated that. All in all a great place to stay. Suggestion to next tenants, hot up Costco on the way in and utilize the kitchen more and save money to spend on the local touristy things if you can.
A great place for Big Island fun and relaxation !
I found Paniolo 127 to be an ideal place for adventure on Hawaii. It is conveniently close to beaches, state parks and golf courses. For me, most days were: Golf, Beach, Sunset, Cocktails, BBQ & repeat. With the occasional day trip to visit volcanoes and or go snorkelling thrown in. In all, it added up to one fine stay!
I appreciated the amenities like beach gear, towels and a Weber grill. This coupled with proximity of shopping, restaurants and beach bars meant that I could focus on relaxing and enjoying the natural beauty of the Big Island.
The rate is a bargain compared to other properties and resorts I looked at.
Also, I think the recent renovations have addressed the concerns raised in other comments on this site.
Bottom line: Highly recommended!
Mahalo! Please come back soon or tell your friends to visit.
Nicely done remodel.
Very nice unit. Only thing keeping it from 5 stars is lack of convenient pool and the hard mattresses. On the plus you can bbq on the porch. Not all units will allow you to do this.
This a well maintained apartment, well stoked for all you needs. I would recommend it to all staying here and wanting to be close to golf and beaches. Great location.
We found a bargain
We were looking for a bargain and found one. That meant we didn't get luxury but the condo worked for us. Plenty of room with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths as advertised, adequate kitchen and decent living/ dining area. The master is only separated from the living room by Shoji doors and the second bedroom (more private) had twin beds. The mattress in the master is "firm". Furnishings were simple and decor could be nicer. We rearranged some of the tables to make it work better. Having full size laundry was a plus. We did have bugs coming under the door, in the kitchen and in the bathroom. The advertised beach gear should be replaced.
John Landers was quite helpful in getting a broken window fixed, getting us proper stainless, glassware and beach towels. He also got the kitchen faucet replaced. I give him 5 stars for his prompt helpfulness.
The pool access is the large community pool which is good if you want long lanes for lap swimming or water aerobics classes but a not nice like the other condo units "private" pools.
Location is great unless you really want to be in a resort. We loved being close to a grocery store, Lava Java coffee shop and the well maintained Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Golf course. Being 15-20 minutes to a variety of hotel (Mauna Kea to Kukio Bay) and state park beaches (Spencer Park to Maniniowali) was wonderful. Also being able to get to almost anywhere on the island without the traffic in Kailua was a plus for us. We enjoyed the turkeys greeting us in the morning (much better than the roosters on Kauai).
We enjoyed Merrimans ( expensive) and Red Water Cafe (great sauces and dressings homemade) in Waimea. Take the Mauna Kea Summit Adventures tour for great info on everything from plants and animals to astronomy and incredible stargazing! The doors off tour with Paradise Helicopters was a thrill we will not forget. We even saw a whale in Hilo Bay. We saw dozens of whales from the beaches and overlooks.
All in all it was a bargain for a decent place to stay for a great getaway to the Big Island.
Not bad, but could be better
Property manager was more than helpful. Owner needs to spend a little money on the property. Kitchen is very dated, and faucet is on its way out and should be replaced.
Since Hawaii is a very warm place, insect control should be increased.
Waikoloa Village is centrally located along the Kohala Coast. Minutes to some of the best beaches Hawaii has to offer. Waikoloa Resort is only 6 miles away where you will find the Kings and Queen's Shops, the Marriott and Hilton Waikoloa Village. The Waikoloa Beach Resort is only 15 minutes from Paniolo 127.
