Casa Frijolar Playa Marbella – Quiet Jungle Chalet with shared Swimming Pool and Skate Bowl
Centrally located between Marbella’s beach (0.5 miles / 10 min walk) and the town center (0.6 miles / 12 min walk), Casa Frijolar is tucked away on a small private road in the jungle, away from traffic and noise. Here you’ll enjoy both convenience and tranquility, surrounded by monkeys, tropical birds, and the sound of the ocean at night.
Casa Frijolar is part of "Casas Guanacaste" property, which includes three guest houses in total plus the owners’ home. My wife Maria, who is Costa Rican and from Marbella, our son Enzo, and I (Cedric, from France) live at the back of the 1.25-acre property and will be happy to assist you with anything you may need.
This private two-story house features a fully equipped kitchen, living room, and bathroom downstairs, plus an upstairs bedroom with one queen and one double bed. Step out to your terrace or open the balcony doors to catch garden and jungle views.
For stays of two weeks or longer, we offer a complimentary laundry service for all bed linens and towels.
Guests also enjoy access to shared garden amenities, including a skate bowl and two swimming pools: a small kids’ pool (6.5 ft x 6.5 ft, 2.5 ft deep) and a larger pool (10 ft x 20 ft, 4.5 ft deep). Each guest house has its own covered parking and garden space.
To make your stay even more special, we offer the following services at an additional cost and with prior reservation: • Taxi service and transfers (local and to LIR and SJO airports). • Turtle-watching tours during nesting season at the Ostional Wildlife Refuge. • Surf lessons for beginners and intermediate levels. • Skateboarding lessons in our private bowl, with an instructor. • Laundry service for guests’ personal clothing. All services are subject to availability. Once your booking is confirmed, we will be happy to share more details.
We live on site and will be happy to assist you in English, Spanish, or French. We look forward to welcoming you to Casa Frijolar!

We had a fantastic stay at Casa Guanacaste, Casa Frijolar. Cedric and Maria are wonderful hosts. They shared so much local information and tips for visiting a variety of local spots. Our only regret is that we could not stay longer! We will return for sure!
We had such an amazing adventure! The casa was beautiful and so clean and welcoming. We walked to the supermarket and made dinner in the wonderful kitchen. Our host Cedric was so helpful and accommodating. Truly cannot wait to return!!
The property was quite beautiful and very well taken care of. The nearby beach was not crowded at all while we were there, and it was perfect for a relaxing vacation. Some days we would even see howler monkeys in the trees above us. Incredible! Cedric and Maria were amazing hosts. Would highly recommend!

Marbella is a small village so plan for a restful quiet stay in an open air cabina. The clear and warm water of Pitaya beach was the best we've seen in our three weeks of travel in Costa Rica. Our host, Cedric, spent ten years in London so language issues were not a problem since our grasp of Spanish is not great Dinners at All tiki Hut were excellent. Kima the cat was fun for us as we miss our pets at home.
The house we rented was very comfortable and super funky - we woke up to howler monkeys, birds, and sunshine every morning. The porch was private and had excellent views of exotic birds. We enjoyed the massive upper-storey windows that we could open to cool night air. Cedric made us feel welcome and was very knowledgeable about the area. A quick walk or drive to the beach led to beautiful morning walks on exposed volcanic rock to the south and gorgeous beaches and surfing to the north. Lots of fabulous restaurants with many food options, including vegetarian and vegan, close by. We would highly recommend this property.
If you’re looking for a 5 Star hotel, this is not the place for you. We were looking for a genuine Costa Rican vacation, and found it in this little gem! Cedric & Maria were amazing hosts, and we left with heavy hearts, as we left as friends!
The property was more than we expected, and accommodated us perfectly in making all of our meals. We even had access to fresh oranges and sweet limes from the trees right at the property. The beds were unbelievably comfortable as we fell asleep to the chirping of the geckos, and awoke to the chirping of many birds and watched the Howler Monkeys in the trees right across the road.
Renting a vehicle is almost necessary to stay at this property which will give you a fantastic opportunity to explore all of the amazing beauty of the many beaches & wildlife in their natural surroundings without having to spend your vacation dollars on excursions.
Thank you SO much Cedric & Maria!
