About this property
Red Cedar HideAway - Enjoy the beach and the tranquility of nature at its best !
Red Cedar HideAway boasts a light filled airy, open plan living space made from Australian timbers. The house is a pleasant 5 minute amble to Crescent Head Point, Main Beach, Killick Creek, shops and Country Club in the seaside village of Crescent Head. It is a 3 minute walk to Back Beach via a bush path found at the bottom of our garden. Our house is a two storey home with the upper level being available for guest accommodation. It has 2 large bedrooms, an enormous well-stocked kitchen, a lounge room, an entrance hallway, a 3 way bathroom including vanity, bath and shower and a large back veranda with barbecue and outdoor setting for our guests to enjoy. We love our beautiful home but now we are retired we enjoy a simpler life on our farm in the Upper Macleay and so we only return to wash linen and clean for our guests.

About the host
Hosted by Cassie and Jeff Black

We are a retired couple who have enjoyed over forty years living in Crescent Head. We built our home in the eighties and it is unique in that it has no gyprock walls at all. It is entirely made of Australian timbers. Jeff spent many years as a floor sander and the floors are an example of the pride he took in his work. Having raised our family in this home we now enjoy retirement on our farm an hours drive up into the hills. We return to wash linen, clean and mow lawns but when guests are here we allow them the privacy they need.
Why they chose this property
Red Cedar HideAway is a delightful place to stay for those seeking a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern day life. The Australian red cedar tree we planted when we built the house in 1983 now provides welcome shade and a home for the native birds. It is peaceful to sit on the back deck watching the birdlife and listening to the waves wash up onto the shore at backbeach. The rooms are large and welcoming with the kitchen well stocked, easily embracing the whole family. Recently we connected Starlink to allow our guests very fast internet access so that if they need to work or check to monitor work related business it is easily done.
What makes this property unique
Being located at the upper part of Skyline Crescent means those afternoon sea breezes are able to be enjoyed on hot, summer days. There are delightful walks leading from the bottom of the backyard to the beach either along the bush track that descends to Backbeach corner or along the road that leads up to the water tower where a 360 view of the ocean is to be savoured . From here a track winds down to the golf course and the village centre, where an ice-cream or cool drink can be enjoyed before discovering another route up to the house!
