About this property
Inner City Sanctuary
HISTORICALLY SIGNIFICANT ACCOMMODATION: Tibbets on Tillot is a historical Queensland Cottage believed to have been built circa 1883. It was first owned by Edward Deighton (a clark in the Colonial Architect's office) and was part of Deighton Estate which was basically the triangle of land that sits between Old Ipswich Road (now Gladstone Road), Boggo Road (now Annerley road) and Gloucester Street. Tillot Street where your accommodation is located was named after Edward's mother (Tillot is her maiden name). Tibbets on Tillot is also named after Sarah Tibbets (a resident from 1925-1933) who demonstrated a sassiness and naughtiness often frowned upon for a woman of that time.
ACCOMMODATION FEATURES: Tibbets on Tillot is a bike friendly, dog-friendly self contained space with a large main bedroom, separate living/dining, bathroom, laundry facilities, full kitchen and patio opening to a lush tree-filled back yard. The yard is fully fenced and secure with a separate entry to the main house.
LOCAL AMENITIES: Within walking distance of Tibbets on Tillot you will find the Mater Hospital, PA Hospital, Southbank, the Gabba, Boggo Road CSIRO Precinct, Brisbane CBD, Brisbane Botanical Gardens, UQ St Lucia Campus, QUT Garden's Point Campus, Brisbane River Walks, parks and bikeways - basically we are very central.
TRANSPORT: We are also close to the bus (we have a stop at the end of the street) and train (almost at the end of our street). We are also within the zone for electric scooters and bikes.
DINING: Local dining precincts include Stanley Street, C'est Bon, Logan Road Antiques Precinct, the Gabba, Southbank, Little Stanley Street, West End, Fish Lane and more.
BREWS: No's Cafe is 100m from our house, Two Dad's is up Annerley Road about 200m, and Shawty's Espresso is a 500m walk (and beside Park Rd Train/Bus Station). All will service you with some of the best brews and breaky food in Brisbane. Dovetail Social is 800m walk through the back streets of Dutton Park and does fantastic Asian influenced breaky and lunch. At the end of Annerley Road you will find brews of a different kind in the form of the Brisbane Brewhouse where you can taste local craft beer and food for a very fair price and the Red Brick Hotel which has some of the best pub food this side of the river.
PARKING: We have free street parking (with a supplied digital permit). Should you be driving just forward your car registration number and state/territory of registration.
Your hosts live upstairs and have two little dogs (Jupiter and Lila) who will likely say hello. Please enquire with us if you have a dog you are travelling with, as we are a pet-friendly accommodation.

About the host
Hosted by Letitia York

Letitia has lived in Brisbane most of her life and loves the area of Dutton Park and Highgate Hill for it's history, parks, proximity to the river and alternative lifestyle. She is a big dog lover, cyclist and walker and encourages guests to enjoy the area and what it has to offer around these interests/hobbies.
Why they chose this property
Dutton Park is a sleepy inner city suburb that many people don't know about because of it's size. Adjacent suburbs like Woolloongabba, Highgate Hill, Southbank and West End are better known and Dutton Park benefits from all these suburbs have to offer. Dutton Park is eclectic, quiet, friendly, interesting and really really close to things.
What makes this property unique
Tibbets on Tillot is unique for a couple of reasons including it sitting amongst some of the oldest character homes in Brisbane and having a beautiful renovation to enhance this character. It also boasts such easy access to so much and of course being being dog friendly and affordable is a big stand out.
