About Rob & Deb Kane
Rob and I (Deb) have both had backgrounds in the film and television industry. We were drawn to the rugged beauty of the bush 12 years ago. Tanjenong belonged to my parents who arrived here from Kenya in 1971. They were drawn Tanjenong because it reminded them of the rugged wildness of the African landscape. We have a strong interest in creating sustainable, environmentally friendly and beautiful spaces so that all our visitors can sink into this wild landscape the same way we did. We hope you have a wonderful peaceful stay at Tanjenong. Enjoy! Deb and Rob Kane
Rob & Deb Kane purchased this Campsite in 1971
Why Rob & Deb Kane chose Curraweela
Tanjenong Camp is something of a living gallery inspired by the subtle beauty of the surrounding wild bush and spectacular landscape. There is the chance to explore the Tanjenong bushwalks, rich with wildlife and diverse eucalypt forests. You will also have a chance to swim in the Abercrombie river. A welcome reprieve on your 2 hour river walk
What makes this Campsite unique
This is a chance to unwind in an iconic Australian setting. The sites and sounds of the surrounding bush are mesmerising. The chance to sit around a campfire while gazing at the star strewn Milky Way is an experience hard to forget!

We had an absolute blast staying in the Yirri tent! The site is absolutely beautiful and very well designed and kept. We were there when it was quite cold but we were quite warm with the bedding that was provided. Even with other campers, it was like being there by yourself because there is so much space. The local walks were pretty and we ventured out to Wombeyan Caves which wasn't too far away.
The camp kitchen was great and everything was provided (utensils, pots, pans, Dutch ovens, etc). The toilet facilities were great, not too far from the tent if needing to walk in the night and were very clean and well set up (would barely know they were compostable toilets).
We had an amazing weekend! Deb and Rob were great too! I highly recommend and will definitely be back!
We are a half hour drive from Wombeyan Caves. Rob is a Guide down at the caves so can help with any questions you might have. We are a 40 minute drive from Mayfield gardens which are spectacular. We are a 40 minute drive from Laggan lavender farm as well as from Willowtree Sculpture Garden. They are some terrific places to eat. Laggan pantry has delicious food as does the Argyle Inn (our favourite and only 15 minutes from the farm). There are a couple of great little cafes in Taralga which is a 15 minute drive. The Ploughman cafe has great coffee and does terrific lunches. The Tangled vine has great breakfasts with real “farmer” sized helpings!
