Why Mylene Pentland chose French Island
Our 30 hectare (75 acre) property has a pine forest, eucalypt woodlands, heath lands, grasslands, large melaleuca copses, resident koalas, echidnas, and an abundance of birdlife. We are surrounded by national park, and close to the beach.
What makes this Cottage unique
French Island can only be reached by water and is totally off-the-grid. While geographically quite close to Melbourne, it feels like a million miles away. We have dirt roads, empty beaches, only one shop, a large national park, less than 120 residents and lots of peace and quiet

A quiet place
Had a lovely quiet week on French Is at the cottage. Really felt far away from everything yet only a short distance to Melbourne. We had klmxs of beach to ourselves. Only minor negative the tide was out during the day which makes it hard to get a swim in but all on all relaxing away from the crowds for a change.
A great choice!
My family and I loved staying here. The property is pretty, the location is remote but not isolated. and the hosts are relaxed and accommodating. The cottage is well set up and we loved the freshly-laid eggs, home-made marmalade and access to the old bus for our teenagers. Even our dog was made welcome, and that meant a lot to us. Thanks Alan and Mylene for providing a comfortable, hassle-free base for our bushwalking, water-splashing holiday.
