The property is well worn down and in need of some maintenance. The photos and description on Stayz are not accurate and I feel as though they are very misleading. To imply a kitchen is well stocked and it doesn’t even have a wooden spoon, salad bowl or any type of storage container is a hard sell. The coffee machine has no lid on the water component and it was a real treat to find a cockroach floating in the water on our first morning here. The cutlery in the draw was dirty and the coffee cups are so badly stained and not inviting to use at all. The oven and BBQ were not clean on arrival and I can assure you we won't be using either of these during our stay.
The back sliding door comes off its hinges every time you open it and the screens in the house have holes through them. The shower and laundry door, and sliding doors are covered in mold, as is the cutting board in the kitchen. There are insects and spider webs along the roof of the property and the house is generally unclean. There are holes in the walls, which I have sent photos through to ensure we are not liable for. I can accept and wear and tear, however, poor hygiene and mould is inexcusable. The doona in the main bedroom is too small for the bed and we had to go and purchase our own doona for us to use.
There are ceiling fans and a beautiful breeze on the deck, but the minute you walk into the house that disappears. The fans are completely useless and only have one speed.
As far as the outdoor entertaining area, there are a few plastic chairs stacked against the house we could use, but they also require a good clean before being used. It certainly isn’t an appealing option.
It has been a very disappointing experience resulted in our family relocating and forfeiting our money, as we were informed by the owner that “he is not prepared to refund your tariff as he is of the opinion that no major issues have been identified”
While I appreciate that cleaners were sent to the property, as well as new cups, a new coffee machine and wooden spoons, there is nothing I want to do more when on holidays than wash each of these new items, throw out the old items and re stock the cupboards. It also took 6 days and multiple follow up phone calls to get this put in place because the owner wasn’t responding.
Save yourself the trouble, stay in a nicer place and just walk a bit further to the beach
