Great location but I don’t love the management company
Location is awesome! Directly across the street from the beach access, so it’s nearly beachfront convenience. The room configuration and house layout worked great for our multi-generational family. The living room was stocked with books and games, which we enjoyed. The kitchen worked well for our needs.
The office was quick to respond to our inquiries.
That said, renting beach houses has become less enjoyable as more are bought up by management companies. All the companies I’ve rented from have been more impersonal and detached, while individual owners have always treated us warmly and had good gear to borrow. Unfortunately, these guys are no exception to that trend. In this case, there was no beach gear provided, and no place provided to secure ours (storage closet was locked and we were not allowed to access it), so we just tried to keep our stuff out of sight at the back of the garage. They just offered to rent us gear.
The only really sketchy part came at the end, when they refused to return the (large) damage deposit until more than 30 days after checkout. When I challenged this practice, their defense was “you signed the lease with those terms.” Those terms violate North Carolina law, and based on precedent I doubt a judge will see “you signed it” as justification for illegal terms.
All in all, loved the house and location but I don’t trust these guys.
