Perfect!
This was the perfect place for our five day visit in Stuart. It was great being so close to downtown. We didn't need to worry about finding parking - we walked a couple of blocks and we were there! The loft was quiet and cozy, and had everything we needed.
I had a fantastic stay at this property hosted by Bruce. The place is immaculate and had everything I could possibly need plus more. The bed is great, everything is in top shape and Bruce is an absolutely wonderful host!
Location was terrific. Walk to local restaurants and bars. Short drive to beach. Bruce was very easy to work with. Property was small but clean and nice.
Location, location, location!!! What a wonderful week we had with Bruce and Kim as our hosts. The check-in was flawless, and everything was as described on the website. This is a cozy indoor space, with a well-appointed kitchen, bath and living room. The outdoor space felt like being a treehouse, and we spent many hours out there with our little Terrier.Bruce and Kim were so helpful in recommending restaurants, things to do and other places of interest in Stuart. We enjoyed their beautiful tropical garden and the quiet neighborhood. The occasional train or plane did not affect our stay.We really appreciated being able to walk to restaurants, coffee shops, the historic district, the Marina etc. Thank you Bruce and Kim for hosting us. All of the amenities and personal touches, made our stay most memorable. We'll see you again in your beautiful hometown. Many Thanks, K&M
Such a charming property in historic downtown Stuart. An easy walk to lots of good restaurants, shops, the Lyric Theater, and the beautiful Riverwalk. The upstairs was perfect for us - a cozy apartment with awesome outdoor deck space surrounded by mature tropical foliage. Such a good vibe! Kim and Bruce were great to work with. Can't wait to go back next year!
Loved this place. Super good location and such a funky place to stay. Loved the colors, stained glass windows, and layout. Had everything we needed for our stay. Lots of nearby restaurants, shopping, and walking opportunities. Saw an abundance of wildlife from leatherback turtles to manatees. Farmers' market on Sunday was fun as well. Host was helpful but not imposing. Want to come back again!
Stayed for nearly 2 weeks to get the feel of Stuart . Location was perfect - walk to everything : downtown shops, bars and restaurants. The space was as advertised - attic apartment, very well appointed, clean as a whistle, very comfortable. Bruce, the owner, was great - saw him several times out and about as well as at the house - very amenable, informed and friendly. Highly recommend!
Fabulous first time visit to Stuart and stay in Bruce and Kim’s adorable artsy apartment located in a charming historic neighborhood. Although it is very small, their great attention to detail and use of space made it comfortable for our one week vacation. Morning coffee on the spacious balcony was a wonderful way to start the day. We loved that it was a short walk to downtown and a quick drive to the beach. Appreciated Bruce and Kim’s warm hospitality and helpful recommendations. Special spot, we will definitely return!!!

About the host
Hosted by Bruce Wall
Kim and Bruce are a very warm, welcoming and laid back couple who live onsite. They are there if you need them, but otherwise are out of sight if you don't. All of the stained glass in the residence was designed and by Kim. Now a retired glass artist, Kim is a professional pastry chef who enjoys creating edible art. Bruce, who has worked in the aerospace industry for many years, is a seasoned water sportsman who enjoys paddle boarding, surfing, fishing and scuba diving. Don't let him convince you to try out his Indo Board balance trainer, you may end up on your rear end with a bruised ego...nothing that an ice cold beer won't heal.
Why they chose this property
Whether is it is a lovable puss-in-boots or a 1926 old Florida bungalow, Kim and Bruce are always looking for a good rescue project. In a sad state of neglect and disrepair, in 1989 they fell in love with and purchased this charming bungalow style home and over the years have meticulously and personally restored this home to it's original charm, yet have elevated it to a new level by tastefully integrating modern features and upgrades.
What makes this property unique
Old Stuart and the Loft on California turn the clock back to a 1960's Key West back-street vibe with great privacy and immense charm, without the hustle bustle of present day Key West. With shopping, dining, recreational and leisure amenities within walking distance or a short drive, all you need for a great stay with us is within a lazy arm's reach.
