THE HOUSE
Original redwood throughout, weathered by nearly three decades of Pacific salt air, we wouldn't dream of changing it. The entire top floor is dedicated to the view, featuring new floor-to-ceiling windows, an anchored stone hearth with gas fireplace, heated floors, and a chef's kitchen with gas and everything to prepare a delicious coastal feast. Downstairs, a king suite with its own bath, desk, and a door that locks, ideal for a working guest, an extended-family configuration, or simply privacy.
SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS
Three bedrooms. Three baths. Sleeps 6.
Upstairs primary: King, ocean view, ensuite oceanview bathroom.
Upstairs second bedroom: Queen, bath with private entrance from the bedroom and the hallway.
Downstairs king suite: King bed, desk, lockable door, bathroom with soaking tub, washer, and dryer.
THE SPA
Open the door at dusk. Watch the sun drop into the Pacific from the water. Unobstructed Proposal Rock views with complete privacy, the kind of detail that turns a stay into a memory.
THE KITCHEN
A Bosch gas range, a rarity on this stretch of coast where most kitchens run electric, anchors a chef's kitchen built for everything from a private chef dinner to a slow morning. Concrete countertops, breakfast bar, full-size dishwasher, espresso machine, kitchen aid mixer, and gas grill on the back deck.
THE ART
Ghost Forest Beach House features art from the Proposals Artist Residency. Original works by a rotating roster of resident artists hang throughout the home, many created in direct response to this coastline, its weather, and its light. A printed guide on site introduces each artist and piece. The house is, in the truest sense, a living gallery.
THE DEN
Off the home's original spiral staircase, a den built for both downtime and movement, with a 65-inch smart TV, a Peloton bike (bring your own shoes), rotating kids' art supplies, books, and a small library of kids' games. A welcome room when the Pacific turns moody.
WHO THE HOUSE IS FOR
Couples. Anniversaries. Romantic weekends. Storm watching. Writers and creatives. The working holiday. The downstairs suite is a self-contained office with a desk, fast Wi-Fi, and a lockable door. A real workspace, not a kitchen-table compromise.
A SENSE OF PLACE
Neskowin is the quiet alternative to Oregon's better-known coastal towns, a village rather than a destination, with a stretch of beach defined by two singular features. Proposal Rock rises from the surf at the river mouth. And at low tide, the Ghost Forest emerges: the petrified stumps of an ancient Sitka spruce grove, buried by an earthquake more than two thousand years ago and revealed again by the tides. Both are visible from the house. Few places on the Pacific coast offer a view this special.
