About this property
3 well equipped gites with swimming pool on the Loire Valley/Vienne border
Luxury self catering gites in beautiful, quiet rural surroundings of the Poitou-Charentes. Situated on the Loire/Vienne border close to Futuroscope, Chateaux, Vineyards of Saumur and Chinon as well as historic towns such as Poitiers, Tours and Richelieu.
Our three gites date back to the 16th Century and were part of a former winery which have been sympathetically converted in 2018/9, providing spacious accommodation with modern facilities. All gites have private terraces with seating and bbq which open onto large communal gardens with 10m x 5m in ground swimming pool. We have converted our former bakery into a games room with pool table, football table, dart board and toys for younger children. We have two large tables and chairs for all guests to dine together either outside undercover or inside Le Pressoir.
The characterful stone cottages under clay tile roofs offer much historic interest such as flag stone floors, exposed oak beams, indoor well covered with safety glass, vaulted ceilings and lime washed walls. The accommodation comprises of:
Le Pressoir - Two first floor bedrooms, both with en suite shower rooms and walk in wardrobes, bedroom 1 has an extra large bed and bedroom 2 has two single beds. On the ground floor there is an open plan living room, kitchen and dining area with large table and chairs for up to 17 guests.
La Maison du Puits - The first floor has a master bedroom with extra large bed and en suite shower room. There is also a bedroom with 3 single beds and sofa. On the ground floor there is a further bedroom with an extra large bed, kitchen/dining room with covered well, sitting room and a bathroom off the main stone staircase.
La Vieille Maison - The first floor has 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms, one bedroom has an extra large bed and en suite shower room and the other two bedrooms have 2 single bedrooms in each room and share a bathroom. On the ground floor there is a spacious kitchen/breakfast room and a large sitting room with comfortable sofas and a television with french and english channels.
Bedlinen and towels are supplied for all guests including swimming pool towels in the summer season. After stay cleaning is included in the cost of the stay.
Set in a quiet rural hamlet on the border of the Vienne and Loire within 3 kms from a town called Monts Sur Guesnes with a chateau, restaurant, bakers, convenience store, tourist office, bank, pharmacy etc. The nearby medieval towns of Richelieu, Chinon, Poitiers, Tours and Saumur offer excellent entertainment including chateaux, wine tours, fine dining, zoos, shopping, golf and the amusement parks of Futuroscope and Puy de Fou.

About the host
Hosted by Samantha Sowton

Mark and Sam were previously based in the UK employed in architecture and property development. We moved to France in 2017 with our two daughters, Millie and Hattie and bought a derelict former winery which we have totally renovated and converted to create our own home and two spacious gites. We hope to see you soon to share this beautiful part of France with you.
Why they chose this property
After having a few holidays in this area of France we fell in love with it and decided to make it our home, a decision we have not regretted. We have travelled extensively around France but particularly enjoy this region partly due to it's fabulous climate, we have very little rain and more sunshine than most of the rest of France, and the many historic towns and tourist sites we have very locally. The people here have been incredibly warm and welcoming.
What makes this property unique
Our property oozes historic character and features. All three gites have beautiful oak beamed ceilings and limestone walls. La Maison du Puits, named because of the well in the centre of the gite which we have covered with safety glass to make it a fabulous feature, also has the original limestone staircase. All the properties overlook the central courtyard with it's planted wine barrels and lawn. On the other side of the gites is the in ground swimming pool which is fenced for security and large lawns for children to play. We have recently converted the former bread oven or bakery building which is another stunning feature and houses the pool table, football table and darts board. A great holiday destination with something for everyone.
