Words cannot do it justice!

The Pines is a truly magnificent house - we had a wonderful time. Every room is exquisite - the attention to detail meant that we could have spent hours just perusing from room to room. Not only beautiful, but also functional - which you might not always expect from a period home. Thank you for an unforgettable stay.

Downtown Abbey Meets Schitt's Creek in This Stunning & Spacious Victorian Mansion!

My family and I (14 people) recently stayed at The Pines to celebrate my 40th birthday. It was perfect! Throughout the entire booking process Jorge was helpful and responsive. Lisa, the property manager, was in touch with me on arrival day and greeted us when we arrived. She gave us a tour of the property and a brief history of the mansion. The mansion was spotless and spacious. The kitchen was a particular highlight for us, as we cooked most of our meals there. Appliances were upgraded and the stove/over was commercial quality. There were plenty of pots, pans, and serving plates/utensils, so cooking for 14 was a breeze. I really can't say enough good things about this gem. I really hope we can return for another family trip in the future.

Delightful and Beautiful Historic House

Just a perfect house for a friends' weekend away. The house is very comfortable for a large group - en-suite bathrooms, well stocked kitchen and dining ware, plenty of space to relax. The house itself is charming, beautiful and historic, but with all the modern amenities you would expect.Check-in/out process with Lisa was seamless and straightforward. Very easy communication with regard to questions.Highly recommend this property and look forward to staying again.

words can't describe

the unique and quirky experience of our stay. Our extended family of 16 thoroughly enjoyed ourselves--whether cooking up meals in the well-equipped kitchen with it's antique icebox that we were hard pressed to fill; the main rooms lovingly decorated for the Christmas holidays; the generous dining room where we hosted an elaborate murder mystery dinner among other memorable dinners. The old mansion was not perfect--it could be quite cold in the kitchen dining area, a storm one night had the whole place rollicking, the plumbing could be sensitive--but those things only added to the charm and magic that is The Pines. Our hosts were lovely and responsive.

Wonderful wedding weekend!

My daughter’s wedding was held on Saturday at the Stissing House down the street. My family, kids and grandkids, siblings and friends arrived Friday. The house was magically decorated for the season. Lisa, the manager gave us our tour and came back the next day to reprise for the rest of our guests! We enjoyed every minute of our visit and our guests did, too! Wonderful memories for everyone!

Wonderful Micro Wedding Weekend

We stayed at the Pine for four days for our son’s family wedding (14 adults and one toddler). The house is wonderfully decorated throughout in “Gilded Age” style, with lots of space to spread out in. The bedrooms are large and beautifully decorated. We had a wonderful dinner at the Stissing House restaurant - a short walk away. Wonderful venue!

Superb

There's really not much to add to the already glowing reviews seen here. This place is an absolute gem. Thoughtfully appointed inside and out, it was perfect for hosting our friends reunion. Plenty of places to relax and hang out. Nearby Stissing House for fine dining and Stissing Mountain for surprisingly impressive hiking. All around outstanding place to hide out from the huddled masses like a real industrialist. A+

Absolutely amazing

We had an amazing stay at The Pines! You can tell how much thought, care, and energy has been put into the property. There are so many small details to appreciate and enjoy. Lisa did a great job sharing the history of the house, and giving us an overview of the town. This property is an incredibly special place, and we will definitely be visiting again!

Best weekend ever!

I truly don’t have enough words to express how lovely our time was here. It was a privilege to stay in such a gorgeous house but it was the touches the owner and manager made that made it even better. The landscaping was also incredibly beautiful. Very cool venue if you’re looking to do a murder mystery! Truly felt like we were living in Clue. Make sure you spend time in each room as they all have their own character and beauty. The beds were so comfortable and the rooms were so pretty you didn’t want to leave them! We will definitely be back.

A memorable stay for everyone

Our extended family does a little retreat together every year, and the consensus was that this was one of our best ever. Pretty much all of our needs were met, and on top of that it was fun to stay this house because of its character and style. Lisa gave us a nice tour at the beginning and was available throughout the week if we had any issues. It was especially nice that all bedrooms were on the 2nd or 3rd floor, so there were no noise disturbances when our sleep schedules didn't align and people were awake on the first floor. I could go on and on about all the nice things this place has to offer. There were just a couple small issues. One is that the wifi was bad (sometimes hardly any service on the 2nd floor or none at all on the 3rd). I might recommend getting a router with more range, and also range extenders. Another is that the basement had a bat (first time I ever saw one in a building!) and some big creepy spider crickets (I'm from long island and these were much bigger than the one from my basement back home). That being said, we understand this is a rural area so we know it happens! But unfortunately it did make laundry a bit difficult for some of us (especially those who were more afraid of the bugs and bat). These minor issues aside, it was really a pleasure. Thank you Jorge and Lisa and we all are looking forward to next time :)

Wedding Prep and Wind Down

We got married at a venue nearby, but our wedding party stayed two nights here and all our guests were blown away. It's a gorgeous big house, with plenty of large rooms, most guests even got their own bathrooms. The beds were comfy (which was great for our guests coming on a redeye from across the country and everyone coming back after a long night dancing and partying), there was so much storage for us, large tables and even boardgames already there. We had a fairly large group, so finding a place for everyone was difficult, but there was so much space here that people could hang out together or be on their own as needed and no one was in the others way. It is an absolutely wonderful house with so much history, our main regret was due to the rain we couldn't take advantage of the grounds as much but there is so much to the house we may not have gotten to it anyway (not to mention lovely big porches so we still were able to be outside when we wanted). The kitchen was also very well equipped. It exceeded expectations with what it was able to do and provided (appliances and dishware and again, storage space). Lisa was so accommodating and friendly, there when we needed her but left us to our own devices otherwise. Everyone had a fantastic time and just wished we were able to be there longer. Thank you so much for providing such an amazing property and we hope to be able to stay again in the future.

Wedding of dreams!

We chose The Pines for our wedding in July, which was a dream come true! The excellent communication, warmth, and clear information provided by Jorge and Lisa (not to mention the impeccable care for the one-of-a-kind property), made our stay at The Pines so special. We used the park-like backyard and wooded area as the location for our ceremony, and our friends and family absolutely fell in love with it. The house itself, where members of our wedding party stayed, and the full experience, exceeded all expectations.

This Gilded Age Mansion is wonderful

We loved staying in this fantastic period house. Every room is spectacular and the attention to detail is spot on. Every time we walked into the house we were amazed. And we also felt at home and comfortable. We got a great tour from the property manager, who was accessible to us throughout our stay (although we didn't need her). We really enjoyed our time there.

60th anniversary family gathering

This house was a Victorian dream and our family loved it. We were raised in an antique shop and both appreciated and were comfortable around all the wonderful antiques. We had a pinochle tournament in the music room, played piano, puzzled, drank tea in the game room, hosted a white elephant Christmas in the dining room as well as dinner, had a genealogy presentation in the library as well as read and read, breakfasted at the kitchen table, hosted a hot sauce competition on the deck, threw a frisbee all over the back lawn, brought our smoker and had an amazing smoked dinner, grilled for Memorial day, spent hours on the porch furniture knitting, talking and laughing and played games everywhere. While we did go out and enjoy the area, the house was the highlight of our time together. Being a historic house, the kitchen is a bit quirky but we appreciated the large refrigerator and managed to cook many fine meals.

Amazing stay at an incredible property!

We recently celebrated a birthday with 19 guests at the Pines, and I couldn’t leave a better review! The property was beautiful, clean and had everything we needed for the weekend. The rental and check in process was simple; Jorge and Lisa were beyond communicative and hospitable. The house comfortably fit our guests; everyone had a gorgeous room and private bathroom. The decor and preservation of the house added another dimension and character to our stay. If you are seeking an escape that will really impress your group, the Pines is it!

We had such an amazing time at this property! The house itself feels like its stopped in time in all the best ways and my friends and I all felt like we were living in a movie and had so much fun. Victorian Vibes & Endless Memories

This place is incredible - both hosts were very welcoming since day one of booking. I appreciated the asks about the stay and what might be needed leading up to our magical day so, that anything and everything could be accommodated. The hosts also have plenty of resources at the location and connections in the surrounding neighborhoods so, don't be shy about asking. As for the house, it was incredible. My partner and I wanted to bring our families and closest friends for a weekend of "getting dressed up" and this place delivered. Every detail is so incredible and made for the best shots all around. It also overperformed in terms of utilities and needs for a general BNB stay. I don't think there was ever a time I didn't find something or couldn't be resourceful via the instructions of the host. The neighborhood is cute and VERY walkable, so there are plenty of opportunities to get fresh air and just walk around. Stissing House is a must if you need an intimate dinner :) The stay and hosts were incredible and we're blessed to have been able to call this place where we wed.

Why they chose this property

My wife and I enjoy travel in Tuscany and the English Countryside and wanted to live in a similar area near our business in New York City. Pine Plains turned out to be perfect.

What makes this property unique

The Pines offers us and our guests the opportunity to travel back to the age of elegant rural life enjoyed in the Hudson Valley and the Berkshires. It's location provides the best of country living, sporting and vacationing.
