The Old Cretan Cottage
The old cottage is a 300 year old stone built house with all its original futures. Traditional and modern characteristics are blended nicely in this old cottage aiming to create a peaceful living for the tenants where time and nature are cultivating a homely feeling. The house has all the amenities to host a couple or a family up to 3 people with the asking price additional
Guests pay a small feee. Stay at the old Cretan cottage is an experience rather than a stoping place for a night. That’s why I cannot accept less than 1 night stay .
Having private cleaner to look after my cottage since I live abroad makes it easier to have a gap between guests . This is not a hotel like house but a unique cottage and one of the first buildings in the village .The location comprises of hills ideal for hiking and multiple beaches for safe swimming and multiple choice of water sports directly in the Cretan pelagos.

About the host
Hosted by Maria Loulaki
I’ve inherited this house from my grandmother in 1999. In 2001 I relocated in England and 2002 I gave birth to my son and we are both living here ever since. Life and work was always my priority and my vision was to be able to renovate the old house one day. The renovation started last September and finished in April 2019. I’m greategul to the good work of the local workmen and my family who supervised the progress of this project and pleased for it came out to be as I dreamed it.
This house has a magical impact to its tenants and creates a homely feeling any time of the day and any day of the year. I wish to rent it out to those who appreciate the history and culture of this ancient location and the untouched nature and wish to get the feeling of rural Crete. I hope everyone who stays in to the cottage to come back again and build its own history along the old one.

Why they chose this property
The unique feeling of being in the hands of god or gods and the quite location makes this cottage special. The ancient town of Itanos it is only 15 min drive and there you can see the temple of Zeus and the identify the influence of the Hellenistic and Phoenician civilizations. The cottage is located in the old part of the village of palekastro under the hills and the only sound that can wake you up in the morning is the bells from the goats from the near by hill or the singing of the birds! Simply magnificent!
What makes this property unique
Despite the quite of the location in just few minutes walk you can be in the middle of the village with the choice of multiple grocery shops, pharmacy and taverns . Or you could walk further more to the beachfront if you want to enjoy the fish taverns and dine next to the quite sea under the clear sky!!
