About the host
Hosted by John McAuley
I am a 56 year old Australian, married, father of four young adult men, all of whom live in Australia. Currently not working but wanting to do lots of travelling. Love good wine, music of all sorts, the beach, walking, my family, eating out, meeting people. My wife and I moved to France in 2015 to pursue our dream of becoming immersed in the Provencal culture. So far so good...
Why they chose this property
When we made the move from Australia, we spent months looking all over the South of France for the property that we had in our minds' eye. When we accidentally stumbled upon Saint Remy we knew that it was where we wanted to live. That was the easy part, finding the right home was another battle. We bought what was effectively a 215 year old crumbling barn and restored and extended it, started the garden from scratch with the exception of one plane tree, three fig trees and forty four olives and we are now sharing our piece of paradise with others as a bed and breakfast, and over summer and Christmas, the entire house is available.
What makes this property unique
We have outfitted the house with the very best and latest in technology, but retained the original Provencal feel. We think we have the happy medium in where we live between rural charm and quiet and proximity to the old town of Saint Remy, approximately 2.5 kilometres away.
