About this property

Spellbinding Story Book Chateau with views of Golden Gate & The Bay

Step back into time while you enjoy a very rare opportunity to reside in this idyllic and spellbinding architectual modern version of the 10th century Norman French-style Story Book home seemingly plucked from the pages of a child's bedtime story! If Rapunzel had found herself in this spectacular home, she might not have been in such a hurry to leave.

Soaring over the hidden hills of Tiburon, the views from this captivating escape are second to none.

The materials used to build the home are steeped in California heritage. The brick was salvaged from a hotel that burned down in San Francisco and 80,000 pieces were transported in railcars by barge. The original slate was sourced from the Sierra Nevada mountains. The wood rafters are from old ships and the mortar for the bricks was made using local sand. The home’s original radiant floor heating system was one of the first in the area to be created and is still working.

African Verde Chaine granite in striking greens, black and white covers the counters. There are two ovens, Sub Zero refrigerator and drawers, a Marvel bar refrigerator and two dishwashers (one in the pantry). Storage abounds in the butlers pantry.

Spanning a 1.9 acre lot, this 4600 sq. ft. home and includes parking for up to six vehicles, extensive lawn area on the bayside to enjoy outdoor living and the breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the bay and San Francisco.

About the host

Host profile image
Living in this incredible house since seven years, while traveling the world, I have brought back treasures and stories from my many travels. I love books and music, which is why the house is filled with books and instruments, an old style record player and records. I have designed the rooms to bring contemporary flair and whimsical design into the classically proportioned, cozy rooms. Of Danish descent, there is some nordic details that further the sense of Hygge.

Why they chose this property

Nash House breathes tranquility, solidity and old world craftsmanship. Built in 1936 by famous master builder, Carr Jones, the house is an architectonic marvel, published in several books on Storybook style, suffused with beauty, harmony and quirky details. Nestled in lush gardens with a profusion of herbs and roses, hedges and large lawns, this tiny chateau provides privacy and quiet with 5 bedrooms spread over a long hacienda style bedroom department. The bathrooms feature walk-in showers, bath tubs and a jacuzzi. The house is positioned with a South East exposure providing golden light all day long, and breathtaking, sweeping views of the Bay and Golden Gate Bridge. The media room and most of the bedrooms feature large TVs, cable and Apple TV, High Speed internet and house wide wifi.
