-ACTIVITIES/ATTRACTIONS-

Visitors come to the High Desert for its unique landscape, culture, and recreational opportunities, as well as for the weather - hot and dry summers and mild winters at our high altitude. Joshua Tree and the communities surrounding the Joshua Tree National Park include Flamingo Heights, Pioneertown, Morongo Valley, Yucca Valley, and Landers. You’ll be close to all the action at Overlook Joshua Tree. Some of our favorite options available to you:

–Joshua Tree National Park: 800,000 acres of mystical beauty - Joshua Tree National Park is one of the world’s most incredible natural desert treasures. Sweeping, grand in scale and populated by granite monoliths and voluptuous rock and boulder formations. This quiet land, conducive to meditation and roaming, was carved by extremes in climate - wind, rain and an ever-present, relentless sun. Diverse forms of plant life are found everywhere, but none as unique or prevalent as the park’s namesake: the Joshua tree, standing majestically across the vast topography.

–Pioneertown: Step back in time to thus rustic Old West-style village. Wander through the historic buildings, visit unique shops, catch a live music performance at Pappy & Harriets, and experience the Wild West charm.

• The Integratron: New age-y healing destination with a sound bath, originally designed by ufologist George Van Tassel with the goal of reversing the aging process.

** Cleaning Protocols ***
As the only professional management company in the area, we have always maintained exceptional cleaning standards. We pay above the living wage standards; 100% of your cleaning fee is paid to the cleaners (i.e. no profit to us) and we insist on a professional level of cleaning between guests. We love the High Desert for a lot of reasons - including the open spaces, lack of crowds, and dry weather that we believe make it a safe place to visit

Guest Access:
You will have the entire house and property to yourself.

The Neighborhood:
Joshua Tree Highlands is considered one of the most desirable neighborhoods in the area given its close proximity to the national park as well as its forever northerly vistas of the Mojave Desert. Though you’ll feel like you’re far from civilization, this area sits just a few minutes’ drive from shops and restaurants in Joshua Tree Village and Yucca Valley.

When you’re ready for some outdoor adventure, Joshua Tree National Park’s West Entrance is less than 5 minutes away by car.

Searching for great eats, drinks, shops, and things to do? Here are a few recommendations in Joshua Tree Village, less than a 10-minute drive away:

• Pick up some lunch or a souvenir from the Joshua Tree Certified Farmers' Market, open Saturdays
• Find your next favorite read at Space Cowboy Books
• Perhaps close your day with the food, drinks and music offered at the rustic Joshua Tree Saloon

Up for a day trip? Don’t miss these area highlights - they’re worth the drive.
• Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum (20-minute drive) - As far from a stuffy gallery as you can imagine, this outdoor sculpture garden contains a unique collection of folk-art.
• Pioneertown (25-minute drive) - Put on your ten-gallon hat and stroll down Mane Street of this Wild West-inspired town, also known for Pappy & Harriet’s, a notable restaurant and venue.

Getting Around:
Many roads in the high desert are dirt, so please take it slow. While a car is required to get around, a four wheel drive car is not, but note that roads will often have ruts, particularly after a rain.

Total DISCONNECT
We had an amazing stay. We were looking for quiet, no stress, no noise, no people and that is what we got! It was such a peaceful trip. This house is HUGE and so cute. All the amenities you need for the perfect stay where you booked location. Beds were comfy, Kitchen stocked with everything you need and the outdoor patio areas fantastic. Great little shady dining table, comfy seating around the pool and a front seat view of the valley and desert wildlife you could stare at for days. We really loved it!

Amazing stay
The Joshua Tree Overlook House is great. The location was close to the west park entrance yet secluded and quiet. There was great access to hiking trail. The house is roomy, open, comfy and cozy. The kitchen was well stocked with lots of useful kitchen items that made cooking and cleaning up easy and comfortable. The beds were comfortable and had nice linens, blankets and plenty of pillows. The deck is amazing with a fantastic view, great sitting options and a beautiful pool. We had a wonderful stay.

Disappointing Stay
The house is very beautiful and the communication with property manager was great. The problem was that a few things did not work when we had gotten there and the biggest problem was the jacuzzi was not functioning and was never fixed while we were there. smaller things like the certain lamps and light bulbs not working when we got there. small things can be over looked but why wasn't everything checked before we got there. another big issue was the Fire Place. the smoke back fired into the house and everything smelled like smoke for the whole week. the flew was opened. When we called to ask about it, we were told that the fires had to be bigger in order to be sucked up into the chimney . we tried that and needless to say we almost got smoked out of the house. we paid a lot of money for the week and the idea we could not use the fireplace, of the Jacuzzi was a problem for us.

Desert Getaway
This VRBO was the perfect retreat accommodation. We are so appreciative of the beauty of the house/ surroundings. We took advantage of the deck and did yoga practices looking out at the vista. I will be back!
