Escape the city to the serene and rich natural setting of the Rocky Mountain foothills, just outside of Calgary. Revitalize in the fresh forest air, cozy up to the stone fireplace, and enjoy the company of those around you. Book a week or weekend in these unique and hand crafted log cabins.
The Cabins: At Folk Tree Lodge we have 2 cabins, the Deer house and the Beaver house. Full of character, both cabins have been recently renovated by a local folk artisan to include hand-crafted log beds, stone floor mosaics, decoupage ceilings and many more unique details waiting to be discovered. The cabins have fully equipped kitchens, comfortable living areas and modern bathrooms.
The Deer House is a 2000 sq. ft. log cabin built in 1954. Original oak floors, cozy stone fireplace, and spacious sunroom, all contribute to the rustic charm of this log cabin. Out the back, there is a private and forested patio with a BBQ, fire pit, picnic table, and some lovely swings hanging from the trees. The Deer House can accommodate 8-10 people.
The Beaver House is a 2000 sq. ft. barn style log cabin built in 1982. This cabin is divided into two units, the Upper and Lower Beaver. Giant windows overlooking the pasture, high ceilings, and warm colors, give it a well-lit and airy feel. The multi-level patio is large and has plenty of space for outdoor dining. There is a BBQ, fire pit and a really great tree house for kids. The Beaver house can accomodate up to 12 guests.
The Land: Folk Tree Lodge is nested in a beautiful and intimate natural setting with a private 30+ acres of nature for you to explore and enjoy. We got to enjoy snow in June and the property was even better than advertised. The showers are amazing and it was nice to play sports with the kids on the lawn.
This property was perfect for a family get together. Thank you so much!

Unexpected rules
The setting was beautiful. The cabins were not as equipped as we anticipated and the additional rules were unexpected i.e. no wearing shoes inside and no flushing toilet paper.
Folk Tree Lodge is an exceptional experience. With rustic, warm, inviting features... updated fixtures and appliances... set in a wilderness environment - this is the definition of peace and tranquility.
From the initial communication with Spencer, to final check out, our experience was flawless. So many "thank yous" to the entire staff for assisting in the success of our wedding party. You must see the property to fully appreciate the beauty of Alberta.

Thanks for the amazing review Dennis! It really was a treat to host your group!
We came together as a group of 8 Co workers who needed a chance to regroup, rejuvenate and relax after supporting families, pregnant women and people with substance use issues through the pandemic.
We rented both buildings and found them both to be perfect for our meals, sleeping and activities. We walked, played games had fires inside and out did yoga in the sunroom and had lots and lots of conversation in the comfortable living rooms.
We will be back!!
The lodge is in a great location for a family or group looking to be close to nature, but also less than an hour from the Calgary Airport. Banff and Lake Louise are accessible as a day trip from this property; about a 4 hour drive round trip. The lodge stays relatively warm and comfortable even in the middle of Winter. I was also surprised by how many businesses there were in the nearby small town of Bragg Creek (grocery store, brunch restaurant, tavern and sandwich shop to name a few). Overall an excellent stay!

pros: Very hospitable staff, there to answer any questions and meet needs when possible. Adequately stocked kitchen, and comfortable furnishings. Very pleasant surroundings; hiking trails and children's play equipment to accommodate the children and adults ialike ---plenty of "play" area.
cons: Our "lodge" was all on a second level, which meant stair-climbing. The lodge with a living room, big enough for all 17 of us to gather, didn't have a fireplace. We would have preferred to have enough space to accommodate all the members of our group.
