About this property

The House Next To The Mill

The House Next To The Mill is a traditional Cycladic house, in Naoussa. It is only a five minute walk to the Little Port of Naoussa, and five to seven minutes walk to the Agioi Anargyroi beach. It is a comfortable space with two bedrooms, 1 1/2 bathrooms, a great porch and a huge veranda with sea views upstairs. A full kitchen, dining room and a very comfortable living room with a great custom made sofa, that can sleep two more people. Perfect for a big family.

The space
A front porch, where you can enjoy your breakfast and a quiet dinner, if you wish to stay in. The ground floor offers a very comfortable living room which can also sleep one or two people. A dining space and a fully functional kitchen with all the amenities, plus a half bathroom so you don't have to climb up the stairs all the time. On the first floor you can enjoy the wonderful view. We offer two bedrooms, one with a king sized bed and one with two built in single beds. There's also a full bathroom with a bathtub.
Parking space for your car next to the House.

Guest access
The House is at your disposal. Front porch, kitchen, half bathroom, living and dining room on the ground floor and two bedrooms, a full bathroom, a kitchenette and a veranda on the first floor.

There's a basement apartment attached to the building with a separate entrance, that our family is using, in which you would not have access.

The House is filled with items of historic value to our family. Every photo on the wall, every little spoon has a story behind it. Apart from a few modern additions in order to make your staying more comfortable, the majority of the items in the house, go way back, some of them 3 or 4 generations. The traditional altarpiece in the corner of the living room is very common in older Greek households and has remained untouched.

The location of the house is perfect for the ones who prefer not to drive and be able to walk everywhere in the village and enjoy the nightlife. Families with teenage children find it very convenient, since they can safely walk around with friends and easily return home.

I would still suggest a car in order to drive around the island, visit the beautiful villages and explore.

Maria will be your host and there to answer your questions or concerns. We will provide you with information for the Island, and the best places to enjoy great food and drinks, beaches and have lots and lots of fun.

We want to welcome you and share our knowledge so you have a very unique experience, get to see and taste things that only locals do. We aim to make your stay as comfortable as it can possibly be. Host profile image
I'm Francie. We're a family of four living in NYC. We decided that we wanted to live here so our daughters who are both artists would have more opportunities. Phoebe is a ballerina and Martha is a musician, playing the double bass. We love the city life and the options given. We adore the cold and in the Summer we usually struggle, this is why we enjoy the Greek beaches because the water can be really, really cold. I love Paros in May and in October. The weather is still lovely but the island is mostly quiet. I believe that because our daily life is in a big city, we enjoy the quiet when given.
When we book vacation it is always around food tasting. Family favorite movie "The Chef". We love trying new flavors. I am a good cook, so we enjoy family time at the dinner table. We have lived in Greece, England and the US, so we have some mixed cultures and we love all of them and celebrate many different things. My husband Lefteris, is a Sommelier and he can definitely recommend some local Parian wines.

Why they chose this property

The first time I visited Paros was the Summer of 1993, just before I turned 18. I fell in love with the island and I have some amazing memories. Three years later my in laws to be built this house with so much love. My mother in law was from Paros, but lived in Athens. It was her dream to come true and she put so much effort and detail. I got to spend many Summers there in my youth, and later my kids did too.
This will be the house that we will retire, my husband loves it as much as his mother did. After living on the island, I believe returning to a city like Athens is not an option. And after living in NYC, retiring on a Greek island is the best option.
It is with great happiness and joy that we can share our beautiful memories and help people create their own, in a space that we love dearly.

What makes this property unique

The location of the house is very unique, as there are no other big houses in the village of Naoussa. It's mostly tiny apartments or rooms to rent. It is easy for people who don't drive, either young or elderly who prefer to have everything within walking distance. Especially since Naoussa has many restaurants and during the Summer the best nightlife.

Since we took over the house, we did make some changes, like built a tall white fence to create a more private outdoor space. When the house was built, the island did not have that crazy amount of tourists so the little fence door was more cottagy and inviting, but nowadays, some privacy is very much needed and appreciated.
Both me and my husband love how the house has kept the traditional Cycladic architecture. Now all new buildings have followed a more midwestern, Californian and Mexican interior design, but when we visit Greece we long to see the white and blue, and the House Next To The Mill is exactly that.
By the way it is built next to a Mill
