Sitting just outside Waimea, this property gives you access to all sides of the island. It is comfortable and cooking was a breeze. The amenities are as promised and checkin was an easy. Would stay here again!!!
This location is prime in Waimea. The property is convenient and beautiful. Outside of a few quirks, this provided a seamless visit back home with family and friends. Having a space to eat and relax with a 15 month old was key, and this hale provided comfort and safety for us.
Lovely neighborhood…. Enjoyed our home away from home! Had everything we needed for our stay. Waimea is a great little town! Love that it cools off in the evening for sleeping.
We were looking for an affordable longer term rental in this particular area. The property met our needs. The owner was very responsive to our requests when needed.
We loved the location and easiness of the location. Pretty much anything you might need is 10-45 minutes away. And you cant beat having your homebase in Waimea. No mosquitoes, cocqui frogs, nor fire ants to ruin your night. Many thanks to the hosts for providing such a welcoming home!
This was the perfect location for me to visit family in Waimea. Definitely not a “tourist type” location unless you want a beautiful base camp to explore the North end.
Cooler weather, but 15-20 miles gets you 15-20 degrees in temperature.
Excellent accommodations and just as the pictures show.
Well kept and very clean 1st floor unit! The area seems to be a cooler location on the island so no ac wasn't a problem at all. The unit is very spacious and we had more than enough room. I would absolutely stay again and recommend it to anyone.
Quiet beautiful place and a little up the road were the clouds every morning. The temperatures are not so high as it’s at medium elevations. What an awesome place. Waimea is a good starting point for exploring the island in all directions.
We come to the Big island for a couple of months every year to visit our Daughter and this year we chose to stay closer to where she lives in Honaka'a. This location is perfectly situated between the Mountains and the Beach. Almost directly between Hilo and Kona, it made it easy to tour the island. Short ride down the hill to the Beach and shopping and very peaceful when working from the house(listening to the Turkeys). Plenty of space for cooking and a grill that we used several times on the deck...felt like Home away from Home! Provided beach chairs and cooler made for easy beach days. Awesome place for sure and would recommend it to EVERYONE.
The condo was well appointed- pots and pans to seasonings and beach equipment. A little dated but very clean. The dehumidifier was a little noisy was only issue I can think of negatively. Would definitely stay again
Robyn's place is very spacious and located in a quiet safe neighborhood. She supplied many extras like; beach equipment, shampoo, conditioner and sunscreen. We really appreciated the delicious welcome goodies. Communication with Robyn was excellent. She was very responsive and flexible to our changing needs. Mahalo Robyn.
Overall the property is nice and worked for my long stay. There were a few issues but Kathy was very responsive and got us fix up quickly. The only negatives would be when the upstairs unit is rented... they can be rather loud "walkers" and the beds really could use new mattresses. They have added pillow toppers but they are way too soft & no support. Those are the only reason for a 4 star instead of a 5. I would absolutely rent it again..
This place, overall, has been fine. After staying in two places on the Big Island just before coming here that we’re amazing ( charming, beautiful both inside and out), this one does not compare. But, it is clean, spacious, and acceptable. Pros are a well-stocked kitchen ( for cooking or not), well-stocked bathroom. The driveway and outside look quite tired, as do the beds and bedding ( the beds are like sleeping in marshmallows). If you like really soft beds you’ll like them. There is a nice welcome basket on the table with chips and candy. There is an apartment upstairs and as a consequence there is noise if it is occupied that comes through floors. Carpet up there might help with that. There are also ice chests on the porch that can be used, as well as new snorkeling equipment and beach/lawn chairs and umbrellas. All in all, more pros than cons.
The property was quaint in the lovely town of Kamuela and well appointed. My needs for an extended stay was accommodated; however, it was cut short due to the dampness/musty smell (that couldn’t be removed by the dehumidifier) and safety concerns of some windows inability to lock. This was communicated to both the owners and property manager and I immediately received responses to rectify the situation and they were very understanding.
Hadn't seen my dad or brother since before COVID and it was time. They live in Paailio so Robyn's place was the perfect place, convenient, and love being near Waimea where it is cooler. Also was pleasantly surprised that the apartment had a de-humidifier. I am used to the mildew and musky smells from the humidity in Waimea and having the de-humidifier was a huge plus. It was cool during our visit, so the de-humidifier acted as a heater and was a bit loud, but once you closed the bedroom door, wasn't a problem. Very comfortable and well stocked. Thank you Robyn.
Good place to stay. Tried to use the grill, but it was out of propane. The place is a little musty, but being that it is in Waimea, that is understandable. The bed was really squishy and not supportive. However, overall, it was a clean and quiet place.
As I travel for work I appreciate staying in a quiet place. The check in is super easy and the rental is always clean. This is my second stay here and will return.
Sehr empfehlenswerte Lodge in guter Lage, bezahlbar

Why they chose this property
When visiting family on the Big Island we fell in love with Waimea. Waimea offers a slower paced lifestyle, and has excellent restaurants, great shopping, and is right in the middle of so many attractions on the island. We love the cooler weather, opposite of the stifling heat we experienced in Kona.
What makes this property unique
Honu Hale has everything you could need to settle in for a great vacation. If you enjoy the beach, you will appreciate the boogie boards, beach chairs, beach towels, snorkel gear, and cooler that are there to use during your stay. If you like to eat in, there is a great BBQ, and all the kitchen utensils you could need. We enjoy coming and staying here too! We have furnished the unit with everything we like to have when traveling, so you get to enjoy those things too.
