SandDollar Cottage... Ideally Located in the Center of Eleuthera

~Escape to Eleuthera~ Eleuthera offers as much adventure or as much relaxation as you wish. You will feel welcomed by the residents that you have chosen their island as your get-a-way. You will be treated with respect to your privacy or engaged in colourful conversation by very laid-back but not backwards locals. Sand Dollar is ideally in the center of the island and half way between Governor's Harbour and The Governor's Harbour Int'lAirport. Drive north to Harbour Island Dock in about an hour (Harbour Island is then a short water taxi ride) or all the way south to Light House Point in a little over an hour. A gated private paved drive off The Queen's Highway takes you to Sand Dollar Cottage nestled on 1 acre lot. A three minute down the hill has your toes in the the pink sands of Banana Beach. (At the end of the paved road, keep walking straight across grassy area to stairs to beach) A twelve minute walk takes you to The Sky Beach Club offering sea side Pascal's Bistro for the days you do not wish to cook, live entertainment, infinity pool and wifi. Sand Dollar is simple classy style keeping with Island life and getting away from it all. Air Conditioning, WIFI, board games and books to enjoy as you laze in the swinging hammock chairs on the veranda. The settlement of Governor's Harbour is 5 minute drive where you will find all you need including fresh fish at the dock, sea front coffee shop, traditional Bahamian restaurants and takeaway, grocery & liquor stores, banks and laundry mat.
Enjoy great eating with fresh organic produce/baking/sauces/dressings from The Island Farm, fresh fish and lobster in season from the dock in Governor's Harbour or other towns you will discover, bread, key lime pie, rum cake are but a few baked from "scratch" delights at Dale's bakery.
There are several quaint oceanside restraunts & bars, a full page of current establishments with a value and 'delicious' rating is at the cottage.Sky Beach Club offers relaxing pool side bar and Bistro w WIFI only a 12 minute walk from The Sand Dollar. Car rentals are friendly and reliable.

Great clean little cottage

Great clean, quiet, cottage a few minutes from the beach (slight uphill walk with steps down to beach). Property manager Dan, was awesome, fixed wifi issues we had and had great suggestions for beaches and where to eat. Owner also extremely responsive and gave great suggestions and answered any questions promptly.

Simply the Best!

Book your stay at SandDollar Cottage, you will be pleasantly surprised with the extra warm welcome! Rachel is the best host, very helpful, with a wealth of information about Eleuthera. The communication was top-notch, check-in was in person with Dan the friendly caretaker. He even offered to have our favorite beer chilling in the fridge for us! The home is pure Caribbean. Beautiful home in lush gardens. Everything you need and more, very comfortable and extremely private! Thank you so much Rachel, we will see you soon!

This cottage is centrally located, which is great for exploring the island of Eleuthera. Rachel (owner) and Dan (caretaker) were both incredibly friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much and look forward to returning!

Eleuthera gem

What makes this house is Rachel. She is an owner who has incredible detail in customer service for her clients, passionate about Eleuthera, and thoughtful about her clients experience on island. Tha house is great, perfect for a solo traveler or couple. Just a few minutes to wait to an incredible beach, short drive to governors harbor and easy to get around the island from this spot.

Peaceful beautiful location

The sand dollar cottage is ideally located, very private and beautiful surroundings. Easy access to the North and South of the island and beaches. Loved the songs of the birds and frogs and the security with the gated entrance. Rachel was always quick to respond and very sweet. We loved the down to earth feel of the sand dollar. We stayed 3.5 weeks and for our longer stay a traditional couch for reading and relaxing would be a lovely addition to an already wonderful cottage.

Comfortable cottage for rejuvenating!

The cottage is wonderful - airy, comfortable and quiet. Cottage has walking (a few minutes) access to georgeous pink sand beach, stunning! Rachel, the owner was very nice, responsive and accommodating in making my stay enjoyable and memorable.

Beautiful location and property. Perfect for a couple. Rachel is very accommodating.

My husband and I spent our 10th anniversary here, and it was perfect. The property is clean with nice grounds, and the beautiful pink sand beach is a short walk away. The house is close to Governor's Harbour and good food, and the locals are friendly. Rachel was in contact from the start and helped us find everything we needed. The caretakers were also very friendly and helpful. They even went out of their way when we had a flat tire. I highly recommend Rachel and her little island getaway.

Eleuthera and the fantastic residents captured my heart almost 34 years ago. "Lutra sand between the toes" was how my dear friend Elisa coined it. A long standing sense of adventure took me to many countries. In the 90's, Eleuthera, even with three International Airports was a bit of a puzzle to get to. I got there, and well... it always called me to return! You will now be able to arrive within a day from almost anywhere and get set to enjoy the ambience that has remained over the decades....Laid back, but not backwards.
Living in Canada with a horse farm to tend to, leaves me able to share Sand Dollar Cottage with you when I am not there. With enough notice The gardener will plant leafy greens and herbs (if season permits) to be ready for your stay.
I wish you to Escape to Eleuthera and get that pink 'Lutra sand between YOUR TOES!

Why they chose this property

Ideally located in the center of Eleuthera and just 3 miles from Governor's Harbour on a one acre lot with a paved gated drive off the Queens' Highway. Perfect 3 minute walk (NOT EXAGERATED!) to miles beaches with sand as fine as icing sugar. For those who do "walk" Governor's Harbour is about a 1 hr walk on the Old Banks Rd, this includes time to stop and cool yourself in the sea at the many beaches along the way.
To explore the Island day trips either to the North where Preacher's Cave, or the harbour to catch a water taxi to Harbour Island are. Or to the South for an expanse of beaches at Light House Point are are just over an hour. BUT.... a real adventure, leave your time instument in your pocket! Don't miss any side trips that may call out to you, or stops to the Island Farm for fresh produce, or fresh fish ate the dock in Tarpum any number of the roads that look like they need to be followed!

What makes this property unique

Sand Dollar Cottage is nestled quietly on one acre and walking distance to the beach or for those times you just don't feel like cooking, a 12 minute walk has you to Pascal's Bistro where you can enjoy a cocktail by the infinity pool and taking a dip is welcomed, or meet other travellers and exchange stories of what you have discovered that day!
