Thanks Jim and Kathi for a great weekend! The house has everything we’d need for an awesome ski trip. The location couldn’t be more convenient. The décor was very chic and the kitchen was well stocked. It was so lovely sitting near the fire sipping drinks après ski. We will be back!
It was a pleasure to stay in Kathy and Jims home. Although we hadnt realized it was their primary residence we couldnt have felt more at home while enjoying our time off the slopes of Mt Stowe.
Their home is beautifully appointed and large enough to accomodate our entire group of 6 without feeling cramped. Their belongings, momentos, and family photos add lovely personality and did not feel overbearing or awkward.
We're looking forward to renting the entire property for our next trip and explore more of Vermont!
Cheers,
Robert
The lodge was so warm and welcoming it was like visiting a family members house. The area was quiet and the view on the deck is incredible. The owner was very attentive and provides a lot of information of what to do or where to go if you're having a hard time deciding.
We arrived after dark and drove up the long bumpy road, a little nervously, but the crossed skis on the tree very clearly marked the driveway to the house, and the motion detector turned on lights as we drove up. We were completely surprised by how amazing the house is inside -- it looked great in the Vrbo listing, but is even nicer in reality. Completely well equipped, beautiful views on all sides, mattresses and pillows were comfy, we couldn't have hoped for better in any way! The owner was easy to reach and made sure we had all we needed.
This was a quick and painless process. The owner was there when we arrived. Very quick tour and we were on our own. Left us his cell number for emergencies. Property was amazing, clean and well kept. I recommend for anyone looking for peace and quiet and solitude but with amenities to explore if you would like.
We stayed in the loft for a long weekend ski trip. There was plenty of room and it was comfortable. We cooked breakfast and dinner each day and the kitchen was very well equipped having everything we needed and then some. There was an abundance of firewood stacked outside so there was no concern of running out. We skied at Mad River which was an easy drive but Sugarbush and Stowe are close by as well.
Jim was quick to answer any questions I had and provided all the details we needed to know about the home and the surrounding area.
We enjoyed our short stay in the lodge and the genuine feeling of welcome from Jim and Kathi. Appropriately decorated for the holidays, we felt at home with the fire and open plan arrangement of the upper level. Highly Recommended!

Beautiful, quiet retreat in Waterbury VT.
Crossett Hill Lodge is just a lovely open-space design. Quiet, peaceful, exceptionally clean with a well-appointed kitchen. Perfect for a family get away whether skiing, hiking or just relaxing. Close to downhill mountains and cross x ski if the snow/weather cooperates, but lovely to spend time in and enjoy the space with family regardless. Great get away for our family after the Christmas hubbub. Highly recommended. Tnx for listing it!

Beautiful, peaceful setting. Great home very well suited to, and outfitted for, a family vacation.
We were pleased with every aspect of the Lofts unit. And the “innkeepers” are very attentive yet not overly so. We hope to return!

Charming loft unit made for some beautiful family memories.
My family and I stayed in the Loft unit and were throuougly impressed. The home was lovely, Jim and Kathi had a warm fire going upon our arrival and were friendly and accommodating. The open floor plan allows for family bonding and the location of the property is ideal for skiing. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend the Crossett Hill Lodge to others!

Our stay
Crossett Hill Lodge was perfect for our weekend. My Nephew was getting married at a nearby lodge, and My sister (his mother) and I rented this Lodge, we had lots of family there and we were allowed by the Lengel's to host the rehearsal dinner, which turned out great the weather was good so we were able to mingle outside and they had everything we needed in the kitchen to prepare. The lodge was very comfortable and it felt like home for us. Would recommend to anyone.

January 2017 visit
The house is located well. It is close to the interstate and close to Waterbury. It is convenient to Stowe, Sugarbush, Mad River Glen, or Bolton Valley. It is clean and comfortable. There is an abundance of good firewood and a robust wood stove. The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped. The owners are very gracious and were responsive when we needed help or had questions. Verizon wireless reception was not great but the texts worked and the owners texted right back. I would definitely come back to this property.

I stayed at the property for a long weekend with friends. The entire experience went above and beyond our expectations in terms of amenities, accommodations, cleanliness and owner responsiveness. Wonderful weekend...even without snow!,
We spent a relaxing VT weekend at this cozy lodge. Perfect balance of "down home" VT charm and modern conveniences. We took in the shops of Montpelier and Waterbury in lieu of skiing. Loved it!

We're a recently retired couple. We've both been in education since the early 70's. Jim worked mostly in higher ed (Boston University and Hunter College) while Kathi focused on K-12 as a teacher and principal. Our current work involves consulting with schools and universities around the world as they seek to better use modern technologies in meaningful ways.
We split our time between wintering at Crossett Hill Lodge in Duxbury, Vermont and Cedar Cove in Portsmouth, RI in the summer. Each property has two units, available for rentals.
We sail out of Bristol, RI throughout the summer on our 38' yawl (charters available!).
Why they chose this property
We lived in Williamstown, Vermont from 1972-1988. When we moved down country, we kept our rental property there. Then, our daughter and her husband bought a house in Duxbury so we did too. Dividing our time between mountains and beach is just about perfect for us! When we got it, the Lodge needed a complete renovation. We've spent the last three years building bathrooms, tearing down and refinishing thousands of feet of pine boards. They were very dark brown when we moved in. Each board was carefully removed, planed, varnished (with VT whey varnish) and put back up. The house has new windows, insulation, new kitchens, and so on. We both like doing renovations so it's been a great project for us. And, we love being a half mile from our daughter and her young family!
What makes this property unique
The lodge is out in the country, close to town, with skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking out the back door.
Combine this unit with the Terraces and you have a perfect spot for a family reunion!
Opening our two units to renters has meant a steady stream of very interesting people since we started renting in the summer of 2015.
