La Belle Aube, our modern luxury gite, 5 minutes from the village of Aubeterre sur Dronne, has been designed to provide a safe and secure environment for families, both young and old, while providing the best views of the valley, which our gite overlooks. Our property benefits from air conditioning throughout and with its private heated pool, children's play area and 1 1/2 acres of fenced in gardens, provides your family with the opportunity to have a great family holiday.
There is also lots to do in the area with several river/lake beaches, golf, tennis, horse riding, kayaking, painting courses, etc all within 10 minutes drive.

Beautiful house with a geat swimming pool

The first 4 days were extremely hot so we were very happy with the pool and aircon in the house. Beautiful region but a little bit too calm for out teenagers. They love some more action and bigger villages in the neighbourhood. But a fantastic house when you look for a relaxing holiday with a splendid view!

Lovely gite in a beautiful area, very peaceful. We visited with our daughter ,son-in-law and 7 year old twin boys and there was something for us all. Loads of space for the boys to run, play games and they even went swimming in the pool in April as the weather was so good. The gite is well equipped with everything you need and is very comfortable. The are so many beautiful places to visit and pretty villages to explore. We would like to visit again before to long.

Fantastic week in a lovely gite

We had a lovely week in this spacious and well equipped gite. It's located in a quiet part of French countryside between 2 small towns, which was ideal for getting our shopping etc. As others have said, this gite has everything and more for a family holiday. We had 2 young children who had a lot of fun playing with the indoor and outdoor toys. There is plenty of outdoor space as well. As we stayed in April, we weren't able to use the pool, but we will look to come back another year in the warmer months so we can make use of the pool as it looked very inviting!

Cannot praise this lovely House enough! Everything about it is top quality, from the views to the facilities, wonderful pool and the comfiest beds! The guys looking after the property we're amazing really welcoming, helpful and the provision of the very generous welcome pack was great! The place was great for my disabled mum and gave her so much independence, which meant that Dad and I got to enjoy our holiday too! Don't want to say anymore because it will get booked up for next year and we are desperately hoping to go back next year!! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful home with us!

Beautiful location.

First impressions mean a lot! We did start our stay with a few problems that were quickly resolved. This was not acknowledged well with the owner and his cleaning team and started our holiday on a negative after travelling 780 miles to get there. By the 3rd day we were happily settled and enjoyed the gite, pool and exceptional views. Lovely welcome gifts. Thank you.

Sehr ruhig, wunderbarer Blick in die Natur, sehr gut ausgestattet, selbst die Canicule bei über 40 Grad konnten wir mit Hilfe der Klimaanlage überstehen.Helen und Dave sehr hilfreich. Zwei der Klimaanlagen allerdings alt und deshalb laut. Aubeterre wunderschön.

Family Holiday with our twins

We have 4.5-year-old twin girls who have autism. Safety is a big concern and we were happy that the property was fenced in, (along with the safety fence for the pool). We had a great time and loved the morning trips to get fresh croissants and other pastries. The view is beautiful. We would love to visit again next year.

Fabulous family holiday

A wonderful relaxing break! The house and gardens provided a luxurious, yet safe environment for our young family to enjoy. Contact with the Jamie and the team of people he has in France running the property was quick, very friendly and efficient. We particularly loved picking the amazing cherries from the tree in the garden. We have rebooked for next year and cant wait to return already!

This was our 4th visit to La Belle Aube and once again it did not disappoint, the weather was fantastic, the pool was great to relax and cool down and the facilities in the house were good too, especially with the disabled access which is important to us. Plenty to do around and about with the beach at Aubeterre and the tree climbing at Poltrot. Also, plenty of nice restaurants in Chalais and Aubeterre. All in all another great visit.

A thouroghly relaxing holiday

This was our third visit to La Belle Aube and we are able to relax as soon as we arrive. We have 12 year old daughter and 6 year old autistic twin boys so having a safe and secure environment is vital to us to ensure we enjoy our holiday and La Belle Aube offers that in abundance. The children spent each day in the swimming pool and the boys enjoyed playing with the toys available at the property. Would highly recommend for all ages. We have already booked our holiday at La Belle Aube for next year.

Excellent setting accomodation

The bungalow is well set out and very nicely appointed. Everything you could need is provided. Unfortunately the weather for our 2 weeks was awful so little use could be made of the pool but when at "home" it was a very pleasant environment to be in. The walk recommended is very good, long enough to stretch your legs and burn off a bit of lunch, but not so long to as to become a route march and countryside all around is beautiful. Although only my wife and I were there, so many toys games and activities are provided that children would be easily kept entertained either inside or out. My brother-in-law is a wheelchair user and would have no problem at all in the bungalow especially with the large walk or roll in shower in the family bathroom which is huge. In all this was a lovely setting for a holiday in France with easy access to the Charente and the Dordogne albeit some summer weather would have added to our own enjoyment, La Bell Aube cannot be blamed for that!

What a Place!!

Upon arrival the property exceeded expectations, and didn't disappoint. The villa had everything you could possibly need and more. Rooms are very spacious. The views from the terrace are superb as are the sunsets! The pool was lovely and very well heated. Excellent location and perfect setting. Would thoroughly recommend. Can't wait to return!

We had an amazing stay at La Belle Aube. The property is perfect for us; sitting in a lovely quiet position with beautiful panoramic views. There is plenty of outdoor space, the pool is warm and it has a very secure perimeter fence. The security factor is critical for us, as we have a son with autism and learning difficulties. Wonderful house in wonderful countryside

My husband Bill and I have been visiting France at least once a year with our friends Chris and Brian for more than 20 years and this is the house we have stayed in which we have wanted to return to. Now that Jamie has confirmed our booking for next year, I would highly recommend this house to anyone who wants a well laid out house with easy access to the garden and pool. Shops for most needs can be found in nearby Chalais and we found some really great restaurants. The Chateau is well worth a visit. It is privately owned and you can get a English speaking guide who really makes the visit worth the effort of leaving the pool. For good value lunches, look out for 'Restaurante Traditionelle'. Set menu but good value. Thanks Dawn and Jamie. You have been very thoughtful in providing everything fussy holidaymakers could need.

Serial-rebookers

I think the fact that we've just rebooked for a 4th year says it all! La Belle Aube really is a home from home, fully-equipped with everything you need to enjoy and relax during your stay, and is perfect for a family break. Given that the property is designed with accessibility in mind, we've found it a safe haven for our two daughters (now aged 5 and 3). The availability of toys, games and play equipment at the property means that you can travel lighter than you might normally do. The owners (Jamie and Dawn) have made tweaks and additions each year that have made the stay even more enjoyable - including heating in the pool (great on the cloudier days), and this year, new tiling around the pool and a wonderful structure that provides a welcome sheltered area on those hotter summer days. The property is well maintained and clean, with someone coming to check the pool and maintain the gardens 2-3 times a week. It's location, well away from the main road and in a slight valley means that it's a peaceful haven with a beautiful outlook. However, the town of Chalais with a large Intermarche, Lidl and a regular market is only 5-10 minute drive away. If you can also tear yourself away from the pool, there are plenty of other market towns and river/lake beaches within a short drive. Finally, two very happy daughters each year means two happy (and relaxed) parents!

2nd time lucky

We have just come back from another amazing week at La Belle Aube. (second time in 9 months) This time we went with friends who also have a pre-schooler. Yet again the house proved to be fantastic and even with 6 of us in it, we were never in each other's way. The children had a blast with all the toys inside and out and so happy children = relaxed parents... Perfect There is an addition this year of a covered seating area pool-side and it was ideal for snacks and drinks with the little ones. Our friends are already looking for dates for next year, not sure we'll let them come without us! A stunning propertty in a beautiful part of France. we will definitely be regulars.

Dawn and I have 5 children - 13-33 years old, and fell in love with La Belle Aube when it was just a plot of land (and a family of 5), for its peaceful setting and fantastic views.
At La Belle Aube we love that moment after arriving when we first sit on the terrace, open a bottle of wine and just soak up the view.
Our boys on the other hand make straight for the pool and jump in. When they were younger it was roaming about the gardens, playing games without us worrying about where they were.
On an evening we love to sit on one of the terraces or just wander about the garden, glass of wine in hand, just enjoying the views and peace and quiet.

We know how difficult it can be for a family with young children to go on holiday so we try to provide everything a family would need for a great holiday!

Why they chose this property

As soon as we saw the stunning views across the valley, the peace and quiet of Les Palennes, the rolling hills of the South Charente, we knew this was where we would build La Belle Aube.
Since building La Belle Aube we have found great restaurants in every direction. Lots of interesting places to visit and lots for families, both young and old, to do.
Aubeterre Sur Dronne is our favourite place with Sel Et Sucre for pankcakes and an ice cream parlour for our children and a great bar for us!
