Townhouse, London, Royal Borough of Greenwich - Historic Location next to River Thames..Pub, cafes shops and Transport very near.. 2/3mins walk.
- english, french
We work in the high end international travel business.. based in Switzerland, but spend time travelling all over the world. My wife and I have just finished renovating a beautiful medieval château in South West France. Château St Paul is a bit of a project with its own church among other things.. Available now to book for seminars or weddings. We have all sorts of old artefacts. some of which find their way into the London homes others are staying put in France.
Adrian purchased this House in 2000
Why Adrian chose Royal Borough of Greenwich
This London property has easy access to all parts of the Metropolitan area. Situated next to the Thames it has the added bonus of being near to a Thames Clipper boat pier, this service runs into Westminster and several other stops on the way.. London Bridge, Tower of London. The train station near-by offers access to the Underground and Overground train service..the station is situated in the market square.. fantastic for shopping.. one of the few real London markets still in existence. The house is very easily accessed from any of the airports, especially London City which is 5 mins away on the DLR train. The areas around the house are carefully managed gardens, parks and walkways along the Thames and around the museum, with limited vehicle access, it is very quiet for London.
What makes this House unique
With the park, gardens and Thames walkway at the front and around the house.. a remarkable lack of traffic and noise, this house is a fantastic place to return to (especially on the boat) at the end of a hectic day in the City... Maybe stop at one of the three pub/restaurants..The Dial Arch, The Guard House (a little more formal) or The Tap Rooms micro brewery with lawns and trees outside in an area that doesn't allow any traffic..and sit on one of the old cannons on the lawn and have a beer. Or equally a fantastic place to wake up in.. cross the park to the Corner Stone Cafe and get a Latte, and get a morning smile from the people you pass and the staff at the Cafe..is this really London? Near the cafe is a Tesco mini supermarket and a M&S FoodHall.. The market by the station.. a short walk.. has an amazing selection of fruit and veg.. and the High St has all of the well known English brand shops.. There are also classic East London Cafe... Eel and Pie Shops, a must try.

With only 2 days notice, Adrian, the property manager, was incredibly helpful and communicative.
Kelly, the on site representative, went above and beyond to accommodate our additional guest last minute.
This property was ideal for our business trip and had everything we needed. Very clean. Superb location in a surprisingly quiet neighbourhood.
Overall an incredibly smooth and pleasant transaction.
Thank you it was good to be of assistance.
I trust your Excel show went well.
We hope to see you and your group again.
Lovely Home Outside of "Londontown"
First, I would like to say that Adrian & Kelly keep a beautifully clean & quaint home. Kitchen is well stocked with all cooking & eating necessities and a washer & dryer. We were pleasantly surprised with some pizzas and wine waiting for us upon our late night arrival. The house has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms which were more than sufficient for our group of 8 adults. The rooms are spread out over 3 separate floors so be prepared for lots of ups & downs. Adrian also made sure that there were 3 hair dryers available for us when I questioned him on their availability. We spent our late evening recaps & toasting in the long narrow kitchen on the 1st floor because the living/dining area is located on the 2nd floor.
Adrian & Kelly's home is located in Woolwich /Royal Arsenal, an area outside of central London. There is a commuter ferry that runs right down by the water (few blocks from the house) to Tower Bridge. We used it several times and it made for an enjoyable commute (be sure to check schedule/limited hours). There is also a train outside the arsenal area that we used which was simple enough once we figured out the lines & where we had to change/transfer. There will soon be a new train within the arsenal area which will hopefully make commuting to this home quicker. You must be prepared to spend considerable time commuting to "Londontown" when staying in this area; when you leave in the morning you will not come back to freshen up and go back into London.
There is a great pub, cafe/bakery and shop to pick up most necessities located inside this community. There is also a very large super store located only a few blocks away in the surrounding neighborhood. The surrounding neighborhood is very multicultural and can be a bit intimidating in the evenings.
Adrian is very knowledgeable and shares lots of information and helpful tips. Our communication became a bit limited prior to our arrival and even as where to pick up the keys were not confirmed until the very last minute - all worked out in the end!
There were 8 of us from the United States that shared this townhouse on our recent vacation. It was clean and well kept and a short walk to shops, restaurants, and the train station. Communication was a little spotty in the days leading up to our visit, but Kelly finally connected with us. It would have helped if our hosts were using WhatsApp so we could keep in touch more easily One thing to note is that the shower floors are extremely slippery - be careful! And it took our host a while to get to the house to let us in due to traffic. I would highly recommend changing to a key-less, coded lock with a new code that can be given to each renter, since we had to stand out in the cold for about 15 minutes after travelling overnight to get there. The recommendations for local restaurants and sightseeing were very helpful. One thing that helped us was buying an Oyster Card to use on the train. You can just refill it whenever it gets low. The neighborhood was lovely and the people were friendly. We would definitely stay here again if we return to London. :-)
The townhouse was lovely. It was very clean and provided everything we needed.
We were provided with tea, coffee, sugar, and toilet paper. The washer and dryer were lovely to have. There is an issue with the shower faucet in the downstairs bathroom. It was difficult to adjust it so that it wouldn’t scald. It was a bit further from central London than I expected, and while there was access to public transport, it was a bit of a walk to the train and tube. My fault that I didn’t ask, but we were completely on the opposite side of London from Heathrow.
Nice property, nice home, easy access to transportation. Smaller than we thought; owner was very responsive to concerns. water pressure very low for number of people staying and showering.
Although the Thames is a river..by this point the tidal movement is so large the water is as much sea as river. Walking along the river path you definately feel it's more sea.. especially at Galleons Reach. So where the coast stops.. is a grey area. If its definition is where the tidal movement ceases.. this is definitely the coast.
The Thames Barrier..is London's attempt to stop the sea..
Do Not Attempt to Swim or Walk on the Mud.. Extremely Strong Currents..Quicksand..and Fast Tide.
London City Airport (LCY).. 5 minutes on Tube (DLR)
London Heathrow (LHR).. 1hr 10mins Tube

London Luton (LTN) 2hr Tube/Train
Channel Tunnel 1hr 20min Car
Dover Port 2hr Car
We would say that a car here is not needed. But if you require a space can be made available by prior arrangement. We are outside the Congestion Charge Zone.
Cars can be hired from the major rental firms at London City Airport
If you're here.. you're probably visiting London..
Depending which form of transport you wish to take..
Boat.. 35mins to Westminster Express Commuter.. O2 Dome 5mins.
Train 20mins to Charring Cross..15mins London Bridge..
Tube 10mins to Canary Wharf..10 mins O2 Dome.
Tube 7mins to link with Jubilee Line Canning Town
Tube 10mins to Excel Centre
If you wish to grab a quick snack the Royal Arsenal has plenty of Cafe pubs and a Tesco supermarket. You can get a good meal at our local Dial Arch Pub or Tai Tap Chinese starting at less than £4 for a Main Course (Tai Tap).. an immense serving..enough for two,possibly.. Also all major UK banks are in the High St.
If you want fruit..the market 3mins walk 6days a week.. is one of the few remaining 'real markets' in London.
A sports centre is just along the river 'The Waterfront' but most people find walking around London exercise enough. Entry to the smaller on-site gym can be arranged.
We may be able to provide some guidance with regards to visiting London. We can send you Links to Websites that may be of some help..especially with regard to local travel and events. We have some actual experience having given personal guided tours and we speak several languages. French,Spanish,Italian,Russian..and possibly some more.
Cars in London.. it can be hard work to drive into the centre of London.. the Congestion Charge..£8 per day.. finding parking, the cost and the fines..if you get one can become very expensive..and if they tow your car..
Motorcycles in London.. Using Motorcycles & Cycles to get around London ourselves..we think its normal.. but for those that are not City Bikers..it can be lively. Nothing quite like fifty bikes leaving the traffic lights at the same time... There is parking provision for Bikes in London.. but the explosion in their use means the parking capacity has not yet caught up..
It is much less Hectic at weekends.. We generally think it's worth doing.. but you must always Lock it.. We can supply extra locks/chain.
Brighton is a nice day out from London on a Bike..
Cyclists can take their bikes on the Boat up to Westminster.. but they may change this. We have made further enquiries and will update their position. We are also looking at supplying bikes at the house..
The Tour de France went past the end of the road..quickly..
