Lovely peaceful stone farmhouse with pool and beautiful views

Casa Wales, restored in 2008, consists of the 100+ year old main house and newer annex. Original beams, pantiles, stone and bricks maintain the character of the house, which is equipped with modern facilities. The house has 4 double/twin bedded rooms with ensuite facilities plus 5th ensuite bedroom in the adjacent annex. Alfresco dining for 10 in loggia. Barbeque. Open plan dining and living area. 40 inch modern Samsung screen and DVD player: connections for laptop, firestick etc but not connected to TV channels. Wifi. Modernised kitchen. Second living room with two sofas. Table football game in separate room. The swimming pool is uniform depth and ideal for pool games; outside shower by pool. Steps to enter pool at one end. There are many plants in the garden including lavender and rosemary, wild flowers, olive trees, cypress trees, cherry trees, fig trees, walnut tree, and a natural wood. The area is blessed with a wide variety of wildlife, much of which can be seen from the garden from time to time: wild boar, deer, foxes, red and black squirrels, lizards, porcupine, buzzards, fire flies. Fantastic place for star gazing as no light pollution. Wonderful views of rolling hills. Two minute drive to Gualdo with its two supermarkets, butcher, bakery, fruit and vegetable shop, 2 cafe/bars (one, Scarlet's, has a great range of ice cream) and excellent restaurant (5 stars on Trip Adviser) for ambiance, food and wines (L'Infinito A Tavolo). Ancient hilltop villages and towns including Gualdo, Sarnano, San Ginesio, Penna, St.Angelo, Loro Piceno 2 -20 mins drive, Sibilini mountains 20 mins and beaches 50 mins. Mountain walks, road biking, mountain biking, e-biking (available for hire in Sarnano), many marked foothill walks with spectacular views start from Sarnano, swimming lake at Fiastra, and Roman remains to explore nearby.

We had a great stay at this home. it's a great size for a group even but also allows for privacy.the views are stunning. The house was spotless and the location is fantastic to explore this fantastic corner of Le Marche. We will definitely be back.

Casa Wales was everything we were hoping for and more. Beautiful, well equipped house, lovely pool area and gardens with lots a space for family games or a quiet spot to sunbathe or read in the shade. Nearby Sarnano became a family favourite outing for our evening aperitivi and gelati, and an early morning cycle ride from there to Sassotetto in the mountains were some of the highlights. We were sad to leave and are already making plans for the next visit. Thankyou Iain, Judith and Daniela - especially for arranging the birthday cake for my grandson.

A piece of paradise

we were looking for a place as a family that we could relax, enjoy and revive. Casa Wales provided all of this; a beautiful, very old farmhouse lovingly restored set amidst rolling hills, and surrounded by mountain top villages. It was like finding a little piece of heaven and a very busy world. Iian and Judith were very responsive in a timely manner to any questions we had. Would highly recommend.

Great stay!

We arrives three teenagers, one 10 yo and one 12 yo, plus three adults. The house was SO great, the surroundings magical. Cleaning was perfect and we didn't need anything! Previous guests were very nice to leave things like pasta, oil, icecream, sunblock and so on - we did the same. Everybody had an amazing time, the rooms were very nice in regards to tempreature. We read all instructions thoroughly, and had no problems with either electricity or water or anything. Loved every moment of our stay, we can really recommend going here! Thanks for letting us stay here!

Very relaxing holiday in an ideal location

What a lovely house. The outdoor eating area is perfect for a large group, especially because it stays in the shade all day long. The bedrooms are comfortable (fans were v useful in the heat!) and the bathrooms are lovely. We really enjoyed cooking in the well-appointed kitchen and using the delicious herbs growing in the garden. The ice machine was a godsend! I baked bread in the mornings, ate and swam all day and slept like a log. We experienced fireflies, the cat, golden orioles and wild boar! Thanks so much.

Great house with stunning views

No hesitation whatsoever to give this house a 5* review. We’re just back from a two week stay with various family (adult and late teen) and the house was pretty much perfect. All 5 bedrooms were en-suite and great, the kitchen and the house in general were well provisioned and comfortable but the main selling point is the outside area- the big table is completely shaded all day but there are plenty of other seating areas in the sun if you prefer, the views are insanely lovely, the pool is a really decent size (big enough for all of us to play volley ball) with enough loungers for everyone. Pictures don’t do it justice, it’s a really lovely private spot, with plenty of gorgeous hilltop towns nearby.

Nice stay in a beatiful house in a quiet area

We stayed at "Casa Wales" for 4 nights with friends, and found the house in perfect condition - both clean and welcoming. Easy check in thanks to the detailed instructions we got from the host Iain. Overall, the house was very well equipped and stylishly decorated, everything worked and the outside dining area was lovely to enjoy for lunches, dinner and drinks. Also, the pool was very nice, and fairly clean (a bit of leaves and stuff but we cleaned that out with the equipment available). If there was anything we missed, it would have been nice to have window screens for mosquitos in all windows in the bedrooms. The surroundings were beautiful, however the closest village (Gualdo) did not impress in terms of services – the description says/said there would be more than one café, and two supermarkets, but we only found one of each, the supermarket with a slightly poor choice of products. We went to Sarnano (only 18 mins away w car) and there we found plenty of stores and cafés so no real damage done! All in all, we were happy with the stay and can really recommend the house, particularly if you are interested in findin a calm refuge in the countryside.

Zeer aangename en romantische woning met prachtig uitzicht over vallei. Deze maand juni was zeer warm doch de talrijke schaduwplaatsen waren zeer aangenaam.Airco zou een pluspunt zijn en eveneens een betere keukenuitrusting. Toch vonden we het verblijf zeer aangenaam en voor vatbaar voor herhaling.

Casa Wales ligt prachtig, omgeven door natuur met prachtige vergezichten. Het is er heel rustig. Het huis is heel ruim en goed uitgerust. We hadden er een heel aangenaam verblijf. Klein minpuntje was de hitte binnen, ook snachts. Airco zou een goede investering zijn.

Fantastic house in beautiful location

We were 2 families (4 children and 4 adults) from Sweden living in this great house on the Italian countryside for a week. The space, the pool and the location was excellent. We went to see the waterfalls in Sarnano and swam in Lago de Fiastra high in the mountains, and even got invited to a night at the nearby dutch camping site for drinks and karaoke. The only problem we had was that the master bedroom on the top floor was very hot but that was a small problem as there were many bedrooms to choose from. We would all love to return here.

Erholsame Tage in den Hügeln der Marken

Das Haus ist sehr geräumig über 3 Etagen. Im Dachgeschoss muss man aber bisweilen wegen der Dachschräge den Kopf etwas einziehen. Die Ausstattung aller Schlafzimmer mit Waschbecken, WC, Dusche/Badewanne ist sehr praktisch. An heißen Tagen bzw. in den Nächten sind die Ventilatoren in den Schlafräumen sehr wichtig. Der Pool mit Außendusche ist unglaublich angenehm, es gibt genug Liegen rund herum - und 2 große Sonnenschirme spenden ausreichend Schatten. Super ist auch der große Platz mit Esstisch und Stühlen schattig unter dem Vordach. Dort ist es angenehm zu essen - und man sitzt dort fein bis in die späten Abendstunden. Der Blick über die waldigen Hügel der Marken ist einzigartig. Die nächsten Häuser sind weit genug entfernt, so dass man seine Ruhe haben kann. In Gualdo (ca. 10 Minuten mit dem Auto) gibt es einen kleinen Lebensmittel-Laden, einen Bäcker, Metzger, ein Gemüse/Obst-Geschäft. Eine sehr gute Pizzeria ist ebenso dort in der Nähe des Ortes.

Perfekt til familieferie i stille område

Vi var en familie på 3 generationer 2-61 år, der har nydt 14 dage i et dejligt hus og skønt Ude område med pool, rigt på dyreliv, skøn udsigt og masser af plads. Værtspar et har været super hjælpsomme under optakten til vores ferie. Området har ikke de store kulturelle oplevelser, men vi kørte til et par vandfald og bedende, en sø og bade, sommerfuglepark, drypstenshuler, de "døde" byer der var efterladt efter jordskælvene i 2017-2018, besøgte de mindre byer og nød de dejlige råvarer fra området (samt urterne fra haven😉)

Super huis met mooie view en heerlijk zwembad

Heerlijk huis met ruime keuken en kamers. Goed (snel) contact met de eigenaren. Suggestie: toch enkele kamers voorzien van airco. Het wordt geregeld zeer warm in de slaapkamers.

We live in Perthshire in Scotland. We fell for this part of Italy many years ago and purchased this lovely house as a family holiday home 14 years ago before embarking on a restoration programme with a local geometra known to us through a mutual friend. We have had many great times in Casa Wales with our 3 children, family and friends. We love it very much.

Why they chose this property

The area is very beautiful, peaceful and populated by lovely people. It is endlessly interesting, but never overrun by tourists, even in high summer. There are many restaurants to choose from, and an abundance of beautifully preserved hill top villages and small towns to explore. The area is great for walkers and we particularly love the gorge walks in high summer, though there are many high peak options too. Also a great area for cycling (road bikes, mountain bikes, ebikes) which we love. There is information in the house on walks and on many local attractions.

What makes this property unique

The house benefits from being very accessible, whilst is secluded without being remote. There are quite likely to be memorable wildlife encounters during a stay at the house with deer, boar, porcupines, buzzards, lizards, fire flies and many other animals in the vicinity. The village, which benefits from an excellent restaurant/pizzeria, two bars and a good range of shops, is about 1.8 kms away, and is walkable along tarmac (uphill on the way there) or via the 'white' road that cuts through the fields.
