About Adrian Everton
We have lived in the same house for over 40 years in a village in Bedfordshire, where we brought up our 3 daughters. I was a Probate and Trust Manager, also advising on Tax with a large firm of solicitors in Hertfordshire. I then set up an investment department managing £32 million, (having been authorised by the Law Society and the Financial Services Authority) within the firm of solicitors, advising clients where to invest their money, before the department was sold to an asset manager for whom I subsequently worked. I became a Member of the Securities Institute. I am now a self-employed Tax Consultant working from home. I enjoy playing whist, gardening, watching football and travelling.
Adrian Everton purchased this Villa in 2003
Why Adrian Everton chose Calpe
I own jointly with my wife, Kay, (who is retired) Villa Catalina which we bought new in 2003 and furnished it ourselves. We usually visit once in the spring, again in June (with our grandchildren) and finally in October/November to coincide with Calpe’s Moors & Christians Festival (a spectacular display of floats, marching bands & soldiers/ladies in beautiful authentic costumes) for a total of 7 or 8 weeks. We originally had a small holiday townhouse on the Costa Brava which we sold, as we wanted to move further south so as to extend the spring & autumn holidays. The Northern Costa Blanca is not too dissimilar, in places, to the Costa Brava with its rocky coves, mountains and cliffs. Also, there are many flights to Alicante from Luton, our nearest airport.
What makes this Villa unique
Most guests comment that the kidney-shaped pool, which is south facing and the gardens are the best features. However, the peace and tranquillity is something to be treasured when relaxing on the patio around the pool soaking up the sun with a cold drink and a good book. Another feature is that the villa is fully equipped for more than 6 persons, in that there are ample cutlery, crockery, dishes and glasses, together with a full range of facilities to cater for any cooking required. There are several bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk. A children's park and another one with family BBQ areas are nearby. The villa is only 5 mins. from the nearest sandy Blue Flag beaches, supermarkets and restaurants and only a little further to the main centre of Calpe. Benidorm with its water and theme parks and night life is only about 35 mins drive away. Safari parks and zoos are within 30 mins drive, also caves, medieval villages, go-karting etc.

Lovely villa, south facing pool, sunshine all day around pool with terrace area to relax out of sun if needed. Area quiet, loved our walks along the beeches trying out all the bars and restaurants. Great holiday at Villa Catalina
Villa Catalina what a great base for our holiday. The villa was as discribed and was equipped with everything we needed and more. On our arrival the villa was immaculate inside and out. The pool very inviting and used at every opportunity. There really is nothing negative to say about the villa. Calpe itself what a great place the beaches are clean and safe. Plenty of restaurants and places to visit in the area. A car is a must to fully enjoy the area. We will certainly be considering a return visit in the future we only scratched the surface.
Thank you so much for your lovely review which is representative of our own feelings towards our beautiful villa. We look forward to your return visit.
Beautiful holiday villa , great position
The villa was great , we had a lovely stay , everything was wonderful . Pool beautiful and maintained twice a week . Close to Calpe and if you wanted to stay local Gran Sol hotel was just around the corner .
It was a pleasure having you at our beautiful and cherished villa. The restaurant at Grand Sol Hotel is excellent and is within easy walking distance.
Excellent well equipped and spacious villa with all the amenities required
It was a lovely villa in a private location not overlooked by neighbours. The pictures on the website were 100% accurate and it is indeed a home from home.
Everything that we needed for a comfortable holiday was provided. The villa was spacious and bright and very clean.
The location when you find your bearings is ideal. There are enough bars and restaurants within various walking distances ranging from 10 minutes to 25 or so. If you are happy to walk then you will find plenty of options available.
I would say a car is essential really although the bus stops are not far away and are pretty regular.
Adrian provides lots of information before you arrive and then plenty more is available in the villa itself.
We weren't blessed with good weather for the 1st week of our stay but found our location a great base for exploring the surrounding area and then a lovely place to sit outside until late evening soaking up the surroundings and the peaceful ambience.
It's the first time we've stayed in this type of accommodation and never had to contact anyone regarding anything, we'll done Adrian.
Overall we totally fell in love with both the villa and Calpe itself and we would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone else who may be considering such a stay.
Thank you so much for your glowing review, which reflects the views of previous guests and ours! We would love to welcome you back in the future. We always try to be as helpful as possible to enable our guests to feel at ease.
peacefully location, close to a few bars/restaurants
We had a lovely time staying at the villa just to mention about the pool it was perfect for my self and my husband, but I would be aware of young children as the bottom step into the pool is very high and quite a drop. It was lovely and clean on arrival, we didn't have a mid week clean and had to leave our dirty bedding and towels outside to be collected where the "cleaner" then left our clean bedding ect, unfortunately for us it was a windy day so our clean sheets and pillow slips where blown on to the ground.
Considering all that was mentioned above it's a very good Base to go into benidorm and site seeing and a lovely place just to chill and relax had a great holiday

We always warn our guests that the pool is deep and to keep an eye on children at all times when in the pool area.
We have never offered a mid-week clean but we could arrange this for an additional fee, if required.
We had always thought that the dirty and clean linen was left in the hallway but in view of these comments we have now arranged for all future linen changes to be picked up from a box in the garage. We have apologised to this guest for any inconvenience but this is the first instance, that we were aware of, of the linen being blown away in over 10 years of letting. The reason why the linen was left on the doorstep was, because without permission the cleaners never enter the villa when the villa is let.
Despite the guest’s comments we were pleased to note that she enjoyed her stay at our villa but we are disappointed at being only awarded 3 stars which does not reflect the quality of the villa, or previous guests’ experiences.
description of the villa is accurate. I liked the fact that the pool was well maintained and cleaned twice a week. The owner is quick to get back to you regarding the property' very friendly maid who came and did the midweek changeover of sheets ect.I would defiantly recommend this property to friends and relatives.Lots of good resturants to pick from' but keep away from the chinese close to the beach. Mad waitress running about all the time.
This is one many dozens we have received over the years and reflects the pleasure and satisfaction our guests have benefitted from, due to our attention to detail.
The nearest beaches (both Blue Flag) to Villa Catalina are about 5 minutes drive into Calpe with its fishing port, fish restaurants, marina and long promenades. There are long white sandy beaches with lots of restaurants, bars and children's play areas. Here you can find the famous spectacular Calpe Rock rising 332m high which dramatically divides the two beaches. The salt lake on the edge of Calpe is home to flamingos and numerous other aquatic birds.
A car is advisable and we can direct you to an excellent hire company who, we have found, are the cheapest. Alicante is the nearest airport and is less than an hour’s drive away; although there are also flights to Valencia which is about 30 min. more. There is a coach direct from Alicante airport or a coach from Alicante airport to Alicante City and a train or coach from here to Calpe.
Villa Catalina is only 15-20 mins drive from the popular coastal resort of Moraira and only a further 10 mins drive to the beautiful Jalon Valley, with its terraced citrus and almond groves and wonderful scenery, Oliva, Denia & Javea. Benidorm is 40 mins drive away offering more attractions such as discos, nightclubs, shows, bars, Aqualanda Water Park, Mundomar (a marine and exotic animal park) and the theme park of ‘Terra Mitica’. There are also a zoo, caves and a safari park nearby.
The local shops, supermarkets, main restaurants and beaches (Blue Flag and sandy) are all about 5 minutes drive from Villa Catalina and the main town of Calpe is only a few minutes more. However, there are several restaurants and bars within walking distance of the villa.
The Costa Blanca offers virtually year-round sunshine making it one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe. The Northern Costa Blanca remains one of the most scenic areas of Spain, where unspoilt fishing villages and historic towns lie between miles of beautiful rock coves and white sandy beaches, most of which have received the prestigious European “Blue Flag” award for safety and cleanliness.
In this region as you drive around the winding roads there is spectacular mountain scenery and many charming traditional towns and villages, such as Benissa, Gata and the magnificent fortress town of Guadalest built on a precipice.
There are also many other activities such as safari parks, zoo, kiddies fair, tennis, golf, go-kart racing, climbing, walking, various water sports/parks, sailing, swimming, diving, boat hire, cycling, ice skating, caves, horse riding and trips nearby (Benidorm) for you to enjoy.
The local green countryside is dotted with beautiful individual white-washed villas. Shady pine woods, citrus groves and vine terracing make a pretty and relaxing setting for those of you wanting to unwind on a peaceful holiday away from the package tour crowds. This is a fantastic area with no shortage of things to do, or places to visit and catering for all your tastes.
Villa Catalina is ideal for families looking for a relaxing self-catering holiday away from the crowded coastal resorts.
Caring families will appreciate the villa and its environment. We are confident that this is the perfect place & you will thoroughly enjoy your holiday in this beautiful villa.
