About this property
Costa Rican life! Beautiful oceanfront with pool!
Experience private Costa Rican beachfront life at our Esterillos Oeste home. This is a true ocean/beachfront, with no access road separating our property from the beach, which allows for much more privacy. Three spacious and comfortable bedrooms, with separate room entrances. Two adjoining rooms share a bath, third bedroom has private bathroom. Brand new pool completed August 2016. *** See important note below, if you need additional space for your group***
Large separate covered rancho area contains kitchen, laundry room, half bath, outdoor shower and barbecue. Kitchen can be used open air, or with shutters closed. Kitchen has full size fridge, gas range/oven, microwave, coffee maker, rice maker, juicer, blender, and all utensils, dishes, cups, pots and pans.
Relax poolside while seeing the Scarlet Macaws and seagulls fly around, listen to the waves, and soak up the sun. Don't forget sunscreen.
Cancellations: In spite of our "No Cancellation Policy," we will give a FULL refund, if you cancel and we are able to rebook the dates. If we are able to rebook some of the dates, we will refund you for those dates. In the case of travel restrictions, that results in airport closure (as was the case with Covid), we will give a full refund of all money paid.
***If you have a larger group, and need more space, we have another vacation rental next door that sleeps 6. The VRBO listing # for Both houses is 1027742. If you'd like just the smaller 2 bedroom rental the listing number is 929906.

About the host
Hosted by David and Nancy Leonetti

Owner is a licensed Realtor. We have been enjoying trips to Costa Rica for many years, before we finally made the move to purchase a vacation home of our own here. We purchased a condo in Herradura, and enjoyed that for 4 years, before making our move into the more "authentic," Costa Rica beachfront home that we own now. A close friend owned and enjoyed this home for many years with his family and friends, before selling it to us. We couldn't be happier with our home here. We live full time in the states, on the bay front, 2 blocks from a beautiful (manicured) white sandy beach, but there is something so special about the natural beauty of the beaches of Costa Rica. Were it not for our family and business obligations, we would love to live here full time.
Why they chose this property
Of course, we are partial to our beloved home, but we see this place as a unique tropical paradise, encompassing the best of the Costa Rican beach lifestyle. The spacious breezy rooms are unique, with beautiful hardwoods, antique tiles, tastefully decorated and the sound and views of the ocean within sight and earshot. The separate rancho/kitchen just enhances the experience every morning when we go outside, and open up the shutters to begin our day with some strong Costa Rican coffee and fresh fruit. The landscaping offers a lot of privacy on every side. Our beach frontage is lined with large and small beautiful coconut palms, fan palms, almond trees (the macaws love them), and various small plantings providing a privacy barrier, as well as shade if you'd like to get out of the sun. Our home is situated on the beach where low tide offers spectacular access to beautiful shells, a volcanic reef, with tide pools to explore and float around in. Great for young and old alike! The Esterillos mermaid is also very close to our home. The wildlife, of course is abundant here, birds, iguanas and an occasional monkey! Esterillos Oeste is a little surf town, with a couple of little grocery stores, with quite ALOT of stuff. There are also a handful of restaurants, all very good. Playa Hermosa and Jaco are close by, and offer shops, restaurants and great surfing. Los Suenos Marina and Golf Course is about 25-30 minutes away, and also has a lot to offer. We realize this type of living is not for everyone, so please do your research. I will honestly answer any questions you have about the house and the area. The town is a beautiful mix of Tico's (Costa Rican), surfers, ex-pats and tourists from all over the world.
What makes this property unique
Typical day for us: Wake up just before sunrise, open up all the windows and doors, and breath in the fresh morning ocean air. Throw on the swim suit, and and head out to the rancho. Unlock the rancho door, and lift open up the shutters..... more ocean breezes! Grind up some fresh coffee beans and make coffee. Grab a few mangoes from the trees, or the ground (if in season), or some fresh pineapple or papaya from the fridge, and make a plate of fresh cut fruit, or a smoothie in the blender. If you like juicing in the morning, grab some carrots, beet, apple and ginger and whip up some fresh juice. Make sure you take five minutes to stop and watch the sunrise. Sit on the chairs outside the room or in the rancho and enjoy your breakfast. After breakfast, grab some water, your iPod and head out for a walk on the beach. Head to the right, past the mermaid to a beautiful secluded area where the jungle meets the beach, or to the left toward the center of town, still pretty quiet...... you may see a life guard, some beach chairs/umbrellas being set up, a couple of people walking, a dog or two, and a local panga boat going out fishing. I've experienced horses roaming free, dozens of pelicans, macaws, and thousands of butterflies migrating overhead, on the beach. If you keep walking, in about 1.5 miles, you will come to a river mouth, and the beginning of Esterillos Centro, where you might see some surfers, and a huge sand bar, at low tide. While you're walking, leave your stuff on the beach, and take a quick dip to cool off. When you get back to the house, rinse off in the outdoor shower, and jump in the pool, for a few laps, or just a relaxing soak. It's only 8:00AM and you have the rest of the day to experience a new adventure: zip lines, horseback riding, river/crocodile tours, waterfall hike, etc. Get back in time for sunset! Certain times of the year you can watch sunrise/sunset from the same spot on the beach!
