About Helen Platel
Hi, I'm Helen Platel, welcome to Solva Group and Family Holidays. We have lived in Solva for almost 3 years but we have been visiting Solva for over 12! We first came across Solva on a Bank Holiday weekend where we joined some friends, the surf at Newgale looked stunning in the sunset and that was it, we were hooked! We have 2 children aged 10 and 8, we made the decision to move here as a family and build 2 beautiful houses, Maes Y Gwaelod and Y Bwlch. We have never looked back since moving to Solva, being so close to the sea and the coast path alone is wonderful but living in a village like Solva with your family is stunning. Our children love Solva as much as we do, they love Solva Harbour for the crabbing and jumping off the Quay wall, I think you'll feel the same when you visit.
Helen Platel purchased this House in 2011
Why Helen Platel chose Solva
We built Y Bwlch in 2011, it is a beautiful house in a lovely part of Solva. With sea views of St Brides Bay and walking distance of all of Solva it is in a fantastic location to allow you to make the very best of your visit to Solva. We have created offroad parking area in front of the house, accommodating 3 cars. The back garden is paved and grassed with plenty of outdoor seating. Solva is a beautiful village, the people are very friendly and welcoming, the four pubs in Solva are all great for food, drink and company as are the 2 cafes. The lovely Solva Harbour and the Pembrokeshire Coast path are both within walking distance of the house.
What makes this House unique
When setting up Y Bwlch for our visitors we have tried to think of everything we would enjoy if we were coming to stay for a week in Solva. With the sea as your playground we thought a surf board, some body boards, wetsuits and kayaks may be useful, there is a selection for you to try. Y Bwlch has beautiful sea views and some great outdoor areas for relaxing and enjoying the sun. Inside we have set up the lounge to allow the whole family to relax and watch the TV, there is a great library of DVD's and books for you to use. Less than 5 minutes to one of Solva's 4 pubs and 5 minutes walk to Solva Quay and the Coast Path, this is the perfect location for your holiday in Pembrokeshire

Lovely house with great facilities. Really clean and all mod cons! Hot tub was amazing and the fire was cozy, just lovely after a bracing winter walk on the beach. Host was especially helpful and super quick to respond to any queries, giving great recommendations and local info. Out bookclub weekend away was a great success..
Beautiful house, clean and welcoming. Excellent facilities!
A beautiful house, clean and welcoming. We had an amazing, relaxing stay. Modern kitchen and bathrooms, comfy, clean beds, and a hot tub! What more could you want?! A lovely weekend away with the girls.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review, we are so pleased that you enjoyed your visit to Solva & hope that you will return. All the very best, Helen
A very comfortable, well equipped house in a great location. The house is very nicely furnished and has everything you could possibly need for a great stay, plus a hot tub - you may not need it but sitting in it, looking up at the stars was a highlight of our stay.
The owner is very helpful and quick to respond to messages, I would 110% recommend this property.
The village of Solva is very pretty, it has good pubs and restaurants.
Solva Beach is just a 5/10 minute walk from Y Bwlch, it is a lovely walk at low tide with the Pembrokeshire Coast Path to each side should the tide be in, it is dog friendly all year round. Whitesands beach is approx 4 miles away, perfect for families, surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, walking and more. Newgale beach is approx 4 miles away, perfect for families, surfing, kite surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, walking and more. In between there are some lovely hidden coves
Once in Solva if you prefer, you do not need a car however, the surrounding area is wonderful and I would recommend a car, you can also use the local buses. Haverfordwest is the nearest town and is 11 miles away, here you will find the main bus station and train station. The nearest airport is Cardiff,
St Davids is just 3 miles away
Access to Pembrokeshire Coast Path just 5 minutes walk away
